Xena
It was currently Friday and Archer and I were sitting on my bed playing with Apollo, Archer had ended up staying over after school and today we were about to head out with Brie, Cam, Owen and Felix. I’m not really sure where we were going but they just said to bring a swimsuit and pack a small bag with some clothes in it for the weekend, so I’m guessing it’s the beach.
“Well, I’m heading home cause I need to change. I’ll come back at around 2. Bye baby” Archer says and gets off the bed before leaning in and giving me a forehead kiss. He then proceeds to give Apollo a kiss on the top of his nose before he waves and walks out. I think my dad was downstairs because I heard them talking about something. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to it.
I continued to play with Apollo for a while before I ended up watching a movie with him sleeping beside me.
Around 2 hours later, I realised it was already 1 so I decided to change into my clothes.
Once I was done I just applied some chapstick and went to sit in the living room. Apollo was asleep so I didn’t decide to disturb him.
I ended up scrolling through my phone for a few minutes before my dad walked downstairs.
“Hey sweetie, when are you guys leaving?” My dad asks and sits on the sofa beside me.
“I think at 2, Archer said they’ll be coming here to pick me” I say.
“Do you know where you’re going? Archer told me you guys are staying for the weekend” dad questions.
“I’m not sure cause they didn’t say anything, but I think we’re going to the beach cause they did to bring a swimsuit and some clothes” I shrug.
My dad nods his head before he switched on the tv and watched whatever he usually watches.
Around 20 minutes later the door bell rang. I opened the door and Brie, Cam, Archer, Felix and Owen walked in.
“Where’s Apollo?” Brie asked and she runs upstairs.
“Damn. Hello to you too” I playfully roll my eyes before laughing.
After a few seconds Brie’s head pops out from my room from upstairs before she starts walking down the stairs with a sad face.
“He’s sleeping” she sighs before walking down the stairs.
“Well, dad. I’m leaving” I say and say bye to my dad before we all walk out my house. As usual Archer and I got into his car, Brie got into Felix’s car and Cam got into Owens car.
“We’re going to the beach?” I ask Archer.
“Yup, something like that, we’re staying at a beach house that my dad owns in the Hamptons. Brie and Cam had mentioned that you liked to surf when you were a sophomore” Archer smiles.
“Oh, yeah. It used to get my mind of my moms death” I shake my head with a smile.
“I don’t have my surf board though” I say and turn to Archer.
“Brie brought two from her house” Archer says.
I nods my head and I was already excited. I love surfing, it’s my favourite thing to do. And I’m staying at a beach house with my friends. That’s even better
“Wait. Do you know how to surf?” I ask Archer
“Yeah, Owen and I used to always go there to surf during the weekends before” Archer laughs.
“So what about Felix?” I ask
“He doesn’t want to surf, he said that he only wants to get tan” Archer shrugs.
I laugh and nod my head before I look out the window of the car waiting in excitement.
———
Around 2 hours later we reached the beach house and all of us got out of the cars. It was already 4. The house was wooden and there were floor to ceiling windows that faced the beach.
“I’m pretty sure you already know why you’re here. Are you excited? You haven’t surfed in almost 2 and a half years now” Cam says and rests her arm around my shoulder and pulls me towards the house.
“Damn. This place is beautiful” Brie mutters to herself.
“I’m excited” I smile and Brie pulls out the surfboards from the boot of Felix’s car and handing me one and as well as giving me the wax for the board.
Cam was holding her surfboard in one arm while the other was around my shoulder. Just then the surfboard falls from her hand and she lets go shoulder.
“Oh. Whoops” Cam grins and picks up her surfboard again.
I shake my head and laugh at her clumsiness while I continue walking.
We entered the house and it was really big. It had wooden flooring and it gave out very homey vibes.
We all picked out a room to sleep in. There were three rooms. Archer and I in one room, Owen and Cam in another room and Brie and Felix in another.
Archer and I got a room at the bottom and it had a sliding door that faced the beach.
“Thank you for taking us here” I smile at Archer.
“It’s all good, we can come here whenever you want. Even if it’s without them” Archer says and places a kiss to my forehead.
We heard a knock on the door and then Felix’s voice follows after.
“Are you guys ready to hit the hay? I want to get tan” Felix says. I burst out laughing and I open the door.
“Felix, hit the hay means going to bed” I correct him.
“They are you ready to hit the ocean? Cause I want to get tan. I haven’t gone to the beach in a long time and I need to get tan. So let’s hit the ocean” Felix talks to him self as he walks to the living room sliding door that leads to the beach. His voice getting more quieter as he continues walking out to the ocean.
I shake my head and laughs but I follow Brie, Cam and Felix to the beach, picking up my surfboard as I walk out the door.
There was a small boardwalk that lead to the beach. Archer and Owen were still inside. They said they’ll come out a bit later.
Felix was already laying down with a towel on the sand. This man was living his best life.
“You might want to put some sunscreen on first babe. You’ll get sunburnt” Brie says
“I don’t get sunburnt. I think I’ll be good” he shakes his head before he puts on his sunglasses and lays in the sun.
He’s going to get sunburnt. But… oh well.
Brie sighs and shakes her head before plopping herself down on the sand and started to wax her board as she continued so talk about how she couldn’t wait to surf.
“You remember how to surf, right?” Archer comes from behind me and wraps his arms casually around my waist.
“I mean… I haven’t surfed in almost 2 and a half years. I remember how to surf but I’ll be a bit rusty but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it” I shrug and turn to him.
“Can you start waxing that thing? I really want to start surfing already. The waves are calling out to me” Brie says as she stands up and points at the surfboard that I had in my arms. Before she quietly start mumbling the lyrics to ‘How far I’ll go’ from the movie Moana.
“Jeez. Calm down. The ocean isn’t going to drain out” I roll my eyes playfully before I sat in the sand and started waxing my board. Cam, Owen and Archer doing the same thing.
Brie was just kicking the sand and muttering impatiently about how we were taking so long. She was already in her bikini jumping impatiently.
Once we were all done, Brie practically ran to the ocean(almost tripping face first into the sand). Cam and I smiled a bit because it reminded me of sophomore year.
I stripped down into my bikini as well. And walked to the ocean as well. Cam, Archer and Owen all walking with me as well.
Once the waves touches my feet I pushed my board and got onto it. I started paddling until I found a good wave. I jumped on my surfboard and it was a bit hard to balance on it in the beginning for the fact that I haven’t surfed in a long time but a few minutes later I started to get the hang of it all over again. I started surfing like I used to during my sophomore years a and it made me miss going surfing every weekend. I missed this feeling.
I looked around and Archer was already surfing. Not going to lie he looked hot. His curly hair was being blown by the wind and his muscles flexed sometimes.
I know you’re imagining it, and I know you know that it’s hot.
Hours flew by before the tides weren’t that great. The waves had become too big and a bit slow. It was currently 6pm.
We walk to where Felix was laying. He still had his shades on.
“Uh. Felix?” Brie questions picking him on his toned tummy.
“Oh fuck! That hurts” Felix says and stands up.
His stomach and face was red. He got sunburnt.
“Oh gosh. See! I told you. You should have put sunscreen. Now you’re sunburnt.” Brie shakes her head.
“Je ne savais pas que ce serait si mauvais” Felix shakes his head and groans.
(I didn’t know it would be this bad)
“Yes. Oui oui. You can get food later. Get into the house”Brie confidentially says
He gives her a confused look before picking up his towel and belongings.
“He didn’t say anything about food Brie. He said that he didn’t know the sun burn would be that bad” Archer laughs.
“Well… I thought he was taking about food. On that note, what’s for dinner? I’m hungry” Brie says as she walks into the house.
Felix turns to walk inside but I couldn’t help but realise that his back was perfectly fine.
I burst out laughing and fall down onto the sand. I silently laughed as I slapped the sand and while everyone just looked at me weirdly. Archer was holding in a laugh probably because of my laugh. I had those windex cleaner laughs mixed with the dolphin laugh. If you know what I’m trying to say.
“Felix. You—you” I say as I gasp for air, my eyes started to water as I continued to laugh.
A few seconds later I calmed down and asked for Archers hand so he could lift me up. Once I was on my two feet I turned to Felix.
“Felix if you were thinking of sun bathing and getting tan, did you even think about the fact that you have a back and that you’re back is still pale… not that you did get tan. You’re red. But if you did end up getting tan instead you would have had a pale back. Thinking about it now, it’s good you didn’t turn to your back. Or your back would have also been sun burnt” I say
“Okay. We get the point Xena. Now hush and get in the house” Archer says and ruffles my hair and takes my surfboard and his surfboard inside the house.
My hair was wet and sandy. It was probably salty too.
I picked up a bit of my hair and licked it. The taste of salt covering my taste buds. Yup. It’s salty.
I look up and start to walk inside the house and I caught a glimpse of Owen staring at me holding in a laugh.
“Did you just lick your hair?” Archer asks me. He was standing near the entrance of the sliding door of the living room.
I turn to look at Owen and Archer.
“I did. Have a problem with that?” I say and walk to the sliding door and playfully push Archer out of my way as I walk to the bathroom in our room to take a shower.
I heard Archer and Owen laughing and I get my cheeks become pink from embarrassment. Why did I lick my hair?
To check if it was salty of course
I laugh a bit to myself before I striped out of my bikini and took a shower.
While I was taking a shower I heard the bathroom door open.
“Xena?” Archer asks from behind the curtains of the shower.
“Yes?” I ask as I tried to get all the sand out fo my hair.
“We’re having a barbecue for dinner. Mind hurrying up? I need to take a shower too” Archer says.
“You know you can join in if you want” I joke.
“Really?” Archer says. He sounded like I just told a kid that he could have his own candy shop.
“No. Now get out. I’ll be done in a few minutes” I say then burst out laughing.
Archer mumbled something to himself before he closes the bathroom door shut.
Once I was down with my shower I changed into my clothes that just consisted of some black comfy shorts and a white hoodie since it was getting a bit cold.
Everyone was outside in the living room because I could hear them.
The room door opened and Archer walked in.
“Finally” Archer smiles before he walks up to me and gives me a hug.
“That hug was very random. But I won’t question it” I say and hug his back.
“I’m going for a shower now” Archer says before he walks and closes the bathroom door shut.
I walk to the living room and took a seat on the white leather sofa. Everyone looked like they already took a shower.
We all talked about random stuff and I couldn’t help but keep laughing about Felix and his sun burn.
Around 20 minutes later Archer walks out of the room. We all head out to sit outside. There was a place for a born fire so we lit the wood up and sat around it. The heat from the born fire was keeping me warm from the cold air around me.
Archer was the one who was doing the barbecuing. We were having hotdogs cause those were the only type of buns we found.
We all talked and ate our hot dogs and it was lots of fun. It was already around 8:30 so it was already dark. The moon was reflecting off from the ocean and it have the very peaceful. The waves overlapping one another. It was comforting.
I looked at all my friends and we all were having a lot of fun. If you told me in the past that I would become friends with Archer and Owen as well as make a friend from France, I would have never believed you.
