I glanced at him. A stony glare carved into his dark eyes. He gripped the steering wheel tightly and looked straight ahead.
“Rence …” my lips utter. I tried to caress his arm, but I just blew a crisp cheap.
I bite down my lip. I closed my eyes tightly to calm my heartbeat.
“Where are we going? How about Clarence?!” I finally said to break the silence. “And your dad, what will he say after what happened at the party?”
“I don’t fucking care!” he shot with anger.
I leaned heavily on the seat. I want to ask what makes him so annoyed. But I just chose to keep quiet first.
“Aren’t you going to tell me something I don’t know?” he then asked me smoothly.
There I turned to him in astonishment.
I was a little bit confused. I do not know what he refers to.
I was surprised when he suddenly stepped on the cylinder, causing us to speed up.
“What the hell is wrong with you?!” I said frustratedly.
But he suddenly braked. If I hadn’t been wearing a seatbelt, I might have sunk into the dashboard of his car.
“Damn! Are you going to kill me?!” I scolded.
“Aren’t you going to say something now?” he said lowly. His face was still dark. The muscles on his jaw moved. His gaze seemed to want to swallow me.
“J-just make it to the point, Lawrence!” I don’t even want to argue with this, but I’m really confused.
I heard him emit violent air from his chest several times. But his jaw was still working hard. He’s the most arrogant and most ruthless man I’ve ever met. He does not quickly soften my heart, even if I stare at him a few more times.
“Fuck, I’m jealous!” He hit the steering wheel hard before squeezing his forehead.
My eyes widened at what I heard. Jealous? Who?
Suddenly, I gradually realized everything.
“It is about Franco?” I clarified.
He glanced at me, looking sharp. “Don’t fucking say the name of that fucking bastard in front of me!”
I sighed. I slightly caressed the painful sensation. Just because Franco touched me makes him jealous? Then how about me? What about Elliesse and his father? Does he think I’m not jealous? I was also hurt, mainly because he kept a secret from me that he and Elliesse were still engaged. Then his dad announced their upcoming wedding, and he will now say that he is jealous of his brother? That was so unfair! I should be jealous. I should be angry now!
“For Pete’s sake, Lawrence, he is your brother!”
“That’s it. He’s my brother! He’s good-looking, hot, and with just a flip of his finger, he can get all the women he wants!” He shook his head and then combed his back hair with his hand.
“And most importantly, I don’t trust him when it comes to women!” he added with sharped intonation.
My anger flamed up; even my eyes widened. “Do you think I’m that kind of woman? Do you think he can get me that easily?!”
“I never said that, Margaux.” I heard his gnashing teeth while his attention was on mine.
“But that’s what you’re thinking!” My tone of voice was high when I spoke. How can we last like this if he will get jealous of the little things?
“He’s your brother, and he’s kind, but that’s all there is to it.”
He didn’t seem to like what he heard from me, so he punched the steering wheel hard.
“Lawrence, please, this is nonsense.”
“That bastard!” He punched the steering wheel again, and without saying a word, he got out of his car. Because I was so afraid of what he could do, I immediately followed him.
“Lawrence, tell me, what’s your problem?!”
My usual step was interrupted when he faced me. His eyes were dark and cold. I tried to swallow, but I felt it did not reach my throat.
“Problem? That fucking bastard likes you. Isn’t that clear?!”
I closed my eyes and filled my chest with air before speaking. “I’m not doing anything wrong!”
I could no longer avoid the vibration of my voice due to the suppression of tears.
I saw him shook his head and rubbed both palms on his face. It was there that my tears fell because of so much resentment.
He stopped for a moment, finally stepped closer to me, and without saying a word, converted me to hug.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.” He kissed my hair several times and hugged me tighter.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that,” I murmured as I hugged him much tighter.
“Shh. It’s okay. It’s my fault. I got easily jealous. I will talk to Dad about the announcement he said earlier.” He caught my two cheeks and stared into my eyes.
“Thanks to your unexpected surprised.” His lips twitched a bit as if he was fighting a smile.
“You …” I couldn’t help but pinch him on the side.
We stayed a few minutes in the middle of the road before thinking of returning to the rancho.
There were only a few guests when we arrived at the gathering. I immediately went to Clarence, who was sound asleep in his crib. I also sent Doris up to watch Clarence and decided to go down and peek at a few more people outside.
When I saw that it was just Jocko and some of Carrick’s acquaintances who were there, I decided to go out and talk.
I chose to sit in Julia’s group. This is quite correct due to the amount of tequila consumed.
I glanced slightly at Lawrence, who’s talking to Carrick not far away.
My heart skipped a beat as he turned his warm gaze in my direction. His lips settled into a soft smile while looking hard at me.
I nervously averted my gaze and distracted my attention by looking at those people in front of the table.
But I noticed that Franco was already there with Julia next to me at the opposite table.
“Julia, your drunk.” Jeremy was deeply toned when he spoke to her, but instead of answering, she turned to Franco, who held a glass of whiskey in his hand.
“What are you up to right now?” Julia asked him in her soft, seductive tone.
I noticed that Santino removed the blockage in his throat before drinking the whiskey in front of him. Jeremy shook his head. He’s definitely looked pissed at this very moment.
“I have a small business in the town. Lawrence also assigned me to took care of the farm and the rancho,” he said casually.
“Oh, I see! Do you have a girlfriend?”
Franco lifted his eyes and darted on me. A smile played on his lips before sipping the only glass.
“I don’t have.”
“I don’t believe you don’t have one?” Carrick replied as he approached the table.
I felt Lawrence’s warm palm on my two shoulders. I gently grabbed his hand before he looked up.
He still looks dark to Franco, who is now competing with his gaze.
“‘Cause I’m busy at work?” he said coolly, but his dark face remained as unchangeable as marble.
