“I DON’T HAVE much time to set up a meeting with Del’fierro’s, Dad. I have more important things to prioritize than that.” His voice was cold and arrogant.
I heard his baritone laugh at what Lawrence said.
“What is more important than visiting your fiancée, then?” Samuel asked his son authoritatively.
The fuck! I immediately lowered the cutlery I was holding. My heart soared hearing those lines coming from his father. That’s when I knew I was waiting for it in favor of me. One more thing, did I hear it, right? Is she still his fiancée? I thought the marriage was canceled?
“Dad, do not bring this up on the table.” His tone was laced with anger.
His father gently wiped his mouth with a tissue and raised an eyebrow at him afterward.
“And what do you want to talk about, then?” He quickly glanced at me with a smile that I could not name.
I seemed to have realized the heaviness of their conversation. I swallowed and quickly bowed. It’s like I just want to stand up and leave this place.
But my vulnerable body doesn’t let me move an inch. I also feel like the blade of his word has cut my heart.
I did not hear the old Saavedra speak, so I looked up at him again. His eyes were holding a disapproval gleam as he was staring hard at me.
I took a deep breath and bowed again. Damn! Was I even breathing? Why do I feel like he is killing me with his stares?
“Then I will talk to the Del’fierro myself!”
I did not hear Lawrence answer, who was continuing to eat.
“I want you to come to my office after that. We have some things to talk about,” he said to his son before standing on his throne and walking out of the dining room.
Samuel has been gone for a few minutes, but still, nothing breaks the silence between the two of us. I don’t know how to act normally after what happened in front of the dinner. Although Samuel Saavedra did not say it directly, I am sure he still prefers Elliesse for his son.
I was stunned when Lawrence grabbed my hand from the table. I slowly glanced at him with a smile on my face.
“I’m sorry about my father’s behavior,” Lawrence muttered closely, his jaw flexed and his eyes bore onto mine intensely.
I swallowed first before answering. “It’s okay, I understand. Go to your dad first. I’m okay here,” I answered in a low voice before a few avoided looking.
I know what I said was against him, but I still do not want to be the cause of their disagreement.
He let out a deep sigh before I could feel his grip on my hand.
“I’ll be back in a minute.” He gave me a drop of the lip before leaving. I did not move the food in front of me again and just waited patiently for his return.
But it was only a few minutes later when I overheard the two arguing. My heart startled me from my seat as I heard the angry voice of Lawrence. I also immediately stood up because of the shock.
My chest throbbed even more as Lawrence appeared in front of me. I watched his dark eyes and how intense they are looking at me.
“Let’s get out of here.” He clung to the baritone voice.
Before I could speak, he held my hand tightly. My heart is nearly beating out of my chest because of his tight fist around my wrist.
“Lawrence, we’re not done talking yet!” The loud voice of his father echoed in the house.
I couldn’t even look at him anymore because of Lawrence’s haste to get out.
“Get in the car!” he ordered sharply.
Out of sheer nervousness, I immediately obeyed his command. I quickly put on the seatbelt before I could feel the speed of his car.
I shut my eyes and let out a slow breath. I have no idea what the father and son were arguing about. I don’t think I have the right to know what’s going on between them.
I barely glanced at him. His face darkens like a shadow in a deep sea. He stroked his stubble chin using his long fingers, then turned slightly to look out the window before focusing on the road.
Ever since I came here, I have only seen him angry again. I remembered the days when he and Peter fought like a tiger just to win my heart. I also never thought he was that serious to me ever since.
My entire body roared to life as he decelerates his car. My back went up to the backrest as we sharply entered his proprietary resort. We arrived at the resort with my mind full of questions.
“Let’s spend the night here.” His voice was rich and rugged. He seemed sure of his decision.
“W-what?! No, how about Clarence? Mom and Dad will definitely be worried if I don’t go home tonight!”
He turned to my side. Even though it was dark in his place, I could see how his jaws tightened. His face hardened, and he glanced intensely at me.
From his seat, he barely approached me. He gently applied his arm to my backrest and peeked out of my seat.
“Why? Are you that scared of me?” he said huskily.
Despite the dark face, I noticed the playful smile on his lips.
My lips pursed a little. I barely adjusted my seat and cleared my throat. “No, I’m not! What I’m concerned about is Clarence …” I tried to speak with my calm voice, but unfortunately, it sounds uncool.
My lips tightened even more when I heard his soft laugh.
“I already inform your dad about your stay here with me tonight,” he said huskily.
I crossed my arms around my chest to lessen the tension that forms in my heart. I did not answer, and it was better to turn my gaze to the living paradise.
I missed this place. This is probably the place I want to keep coming back to. The beauty of the place still does not change. Those dancing trees and singing waves was filled with nostalgic feeling inside me.

“GOOD EVENING, MR. President!” greeted the two receptionists as we entered the hotel.
A receptionist glanced at my behavior. Her eyes squinted on me and watched me with profound scrutiny.
“Good evening, Ma’am! Welcome to Saavedra Resort, where your fantasies do come true!” the bubbly one said to me.
My lips form into a heart shape. It was as if I wanted to laugh at what she said. “Good evening. Thank you!”
I turned my gaze to a receptionist, but as before, she still looked sharply at me.
My body jolted as Lawrence wrapped his arms firmly, possessively around my waist. “Is there a problem with my fiancée?” Lawrence speaks in his cold voice.
The woman quickly confronted him as if shocked by what he said.
“Uh, nothing, Mr. President …” She continued to shake in front.
I felt Lawrence hug me even tighter, so I was immediately alarmed and looked up at him. He looked so pissed that the stiff jaw’s tension and the dark spear in front are also reflected.
