She touched Ronan’s face and confirmed it was indeed him. She didn’t say anything but looked towards what was behind him.
“What are you looking for?” He asked tenderly.
“Uhm… nothing.” How strange there was no one behind him! When she spotted the fried eggs he was carrying, which looked delicious, she asked, “Did you make these?”
“Yep!”
She stuck out her tongue and slowly made way for him.
“Halle, bring me the bread and milk.”
When she walked into the kitchen, she saw two shares of bread and two cups of milk were placed neatly on the tray. She brought them to the dining table and turned around to leave. She assumed that those had nothing to do with her because Ronan made the food for his girlfriend or boyfriend. How awkward it was to mention his girlfriend or his boyfriend!
“Come back!” Ronan shouted to her when she was about to enter her room.
“What?” She looked at him impatiently. She was hungry when smelling the flavor of the food.
“Sit down.”
Why would she obey his order? She thought but walked to the dining table spontaneously and sat down to find Ronan in front of her, who must be worn out last night.
“Time for breakfast.”
“Uh-huh.” She said coldly and looked at him eating while holding her jaw, “Shall I call them for you?”
“Call whom?” Ronan asked and had a bite of his fried egg which looked really delicious. The fried eggs made by him looked especially delicious.
“Don’t you ask the lady or the man in your room to have breakfast?”
“What is the lady or man thing?”
“Um… nothing.” He wouldn’t admit it but she did see a man and a lady walk into this house last night.
“Halle, are you gonna wait until the food is cold? It will be awful to eat then.”
She was surprised to hear that and asked pointing at herself, “Are you asking me to eat the breakfast you prepared?”
“Absolutely.”
Earth to her. She quickly picked up the chopsticks and enjoyed the fried eggs with a large bite. Frankly speaking, the fried egg he made was quite something. And the bread was so soft and yummy. It seemed it was the first time she had tried the freshly baked bread. It was such a perfect match to have a bite of the bread and a sip of the milk that she ate up the food. When she finished her breakfast, Ronan was wiping his lips in front of her, “Shall we go now?”
“Oh, no. I’m gonna be late for school.” Halle just noticed the time when Ronan reminded her so she stood up immediately and was stopped by Ronan when she was about to rush out to catch up the bus for school.
“Hold on!”
“What? I need to go to school now.” She turned back to him subconsciously.
Ronan glanced at her from head to toe and said, “Go change your clothes.”
“Change what?” She didn’t understand what he meant all the sudden.
“Change your clothes and your shoes. All of them.”
“I only have one pair of shoes. I don’t have other alternative. I’m heading to school. Bye!” When she turned around and walked to the door, Ronan held her shoulder and brought her to his room as easy as lifting a little pet.
He opened the wardrobe and he picked carefully from the whole rack of clothes. He took out an outfit and threw them to her, “Put them on.”
“But…” These were for his girlfriend. She just helped to try the size yesterday. When she was still doubting, she glanced at his room which was clean and tidy without any trace left by his friends last night as if the man and the lady hadn’t been here. But she was sure they had been here. She saw them last night with her own eyes.
“But what? Put them on now. Or you will be definitely late for school.”
“Nope! I don’t like wearing other people’s clothes.” She turned away without hesitation.
“Who told you they are other people’s? Come back.” He shouted.
She was confused at his words and turned back to him pointing to herself, “Don’t tell me that they are mine!”
“Yes, they are. My grandpa will be visiting us soon. You must wear them whether you like them or not. I don’t want to give those flunkies any chance to tell on me that I’m horrible to you. Or my grandpa will not believe us.”
She understood what he meant so she took over the clothes from his hands and ran into her room to put them on. When she walked out she found him leaning on the front door waiting for her. At the sight of her, he nodded and said, “Okay. Let’s go.”
“Okay.” She still felt kind of unease as she had never worn such nice clothes and she was not accustomed to it. She walked to him looking at the tips of her shoes and walked out with him after he opened the door.
When they were in the elevator, she pressed the 1st floor while he pressed basement.
“Ding-ling.” They just reached the 1st floor. She was about to get out of the elevator when Ronan pulled her back, “I’ll drive you to school. Don’t tell me you prefer to be late for school.”
When Ronan opened the door for Halle with a charming smile, they were such a perfect match. Everyone around was looking at them enviously, which made Halle rush towards the school gate without another look at the black trendy BMW or Ronan who got into the car elegantly.
What happened this morning with the breakfast, clothes and stuff was so natural as if it was meant to be. When sitting in the classroom, what Halle pondered on was not the lecture given by the teacher but what Ronan had done for her this morning which was a big surprise to her.
What did he do with the man and the lady last night?
Oh, she should really stop thinking Ronan who was nothing but an episode in her life.
But the harder she tried not to think of him, the easier he came to her mind spontaneously.
Anyway, it was not bad that Hunter no long disturbed her.
She got by the whole day’s classes puzzled. When she just got out of the classroom after school, her phone rang.
“Hi, Halle. I’m gonna work overtime tonight. You go back home yourself. The key is in the inner pocket of your bag.”
“Hi, tonight, I want to…” She was gonna reject him but she didn’t make it. Before she could finish her words, Ronan had hung up the phone after sending her his order.
She checked the inner pocket and found there was indeed a key which was put by Ronan without her notice.
“Alas!” She sighed and walked towards the school gate. She was really led astray. After she had some sliced noodles in a street restaurant, she went back home. She was so tired because she didn’t sleep well last night.
