“Ronan Grant, I guess there’s a generation gap between us. This is really delicious. You don’t even try it. Come on! Try it!” She said and fed him with his chopsticks. He had no choice but to take it. It was indeed not bad. So he grabbed his chopsticks and started to enjoy the noodles in front of him. To her surprise, he ate faster than she did, which amused her. Not only she but he were both hungry.
“How delicious!” Halle stretched contentedly after finishing her last mouth of noodles. Then she took out a ￥20 banknote from her backpack and said, “Can I have the bill, please?”
“Certainly!”
“Let’s go! Forget the change! I will give you a hundreds of them later.” Ronan Grant said in frown. He wouldn’t ask for the change for a ￥100 banknote, let alone a ￥20 banknote.
She didn’t pay attention to him and waited for the change. Whey they walked towards the gate, she said in a low voice, “Mr Hill used to be well-off but now he may not have enough money for a bowl of noodles.”
He was shocked to hear that and didn’t say anything more. She was supposed to get used to his lifestyle while it was he who was trying to fit in her lifestyle. She moved into his house that night because he told her that it was their home from then on.
Everyone in the school was gossiping about Natalie’s dropping out without knowing what happened. But she knew. So did Natalie and Hunter. When she saw Hunter again, she no longer had any crush on him. Well, justice did exist in this world while the justice for her lay on Ronan Grant.
“Mom, which hospital is it? I’m coming over to you now.” After school this afternoon, she called Agnes.
“Halle, don’t bother to come. Last night, the doctors rushed here to perform the surgery on Mr Hill. Everything’s fine now. Mr Hill has returned to the ward this morning. I’m busy taking care of him and have no time for you. You should concentrate on your study. I know this time you’ve been a great help. We will repay you when things become better for Mr Hill.”
She was stunned to hear that. To her surprise, Ronan Grant took care of it as early as last night. Because they slept in different rooms, she had no idea what he had done.
“Mom, take good care of yourself.” In fact, sometimes you had to be selfish to care for yourself.
“Thank you, Halle.”
“Mom, it’s all right.” She was not sure of it when Ronan Grant agreed to help her. She just took her chances which didn’t let her down. Whether he loved her or not, at least he was a man who kept his promise.
She suddenly felt like giving him a call. But she just remembered she hadn’t kept his phone no. She immediately checked the contacts in her phone when she thought of the call she had made to him last night. She had no idea when all the hotkeys directed to the same number. This number should be Ronan Grant’s. She pressed the button gently. She was eager to hear his voice now.
“Hello, Halle!” He answered in a tender voice.
“Hi, Ronan! I want to see you.” Not only did she want to hear his voice but also she wanted to see him in person.
“Have you finished your classes?”
“Yes. I’ve finished my classes today.”
“Well, I’ll pick you up.”
“Okay! When are you off duty?” She talked to him on the phone while walking.
“I’m off duty the moment you finish your classes.”
She was happy to hear what he said whether he meant it or not. “I will make noodles for you tonight.”
“All right.”
“Hi, Halle, your fiance has come to pick you up.” A girl came over to her and said enviously while she was talking on the phone.
Halle was kind of puzzled and asked, “Huh? Where’s he?”
“He’s in the BMW, right in front of our school gate. Everyone in our school will be talking about it if you go there any minute later.”
“Ronan, is that you?” She asked in doubt and ran towards the school gate which had been already jam-packed with students of T University.
Ceremoniously, Ronan even arranged to set up a flashy flower wall with roses of red and yellow saying “Halle I love you.” The sweet words were so beautiful and striking that Halle walked towards them spontaneously just like she was summoned. And the crowd made way for her. Slowly she walked in to find Ronan leaning on the front of the black shining BMW. He was in a black shirt with black pants. Handsome and cool as he was, girls around kept cheering at him. Seeing this, Halle was struck dumb with amazement and looked at him in wonder as if she were enchanted.
She had only felt the love from Hunter before in her whole life, which was also the reason why she was so obsessed at it. But her vision with Hunter turned into ashes the moment she saw him and Natalie kissing.
She walked up to the BMW with gleaming eyes. Ronan blew a whistle at her and stood up elegantly. Then he walked up to her passing the crowd like a leopard, elegant and agile. He opened the door and said, “Halle, let’s go for dinner.” His voice was so attractive without affectation as if they were old friends. It just happened so naturally that no one would remember Hunter’s betrayal to Halle. What they saw was Ronan’s affection to Halle.
She walked up to him spontaneously as if she were enchanted. She suddenly felt that this cool guy was kind of cute and attractive with masculinity. Not knowing when he held her hand, she felt she was led by some power to the front passenger seat. When she leaned on the back and the car started, she didn’t hear the students’ screaming out of the window but Ronan’s cold voice, “So, what do you think? I guess now no one would think that your fiance is no match to Hunter, huh?”
She was originally so moved by him. Hearing what he said, she just realized that he just did all this for her to show off in front of her classmates. “Huh! I don’t need you help.”
“You are getting married to me, aren’t you? As your man, it’s my job to help you keep up appearance.”
“Well, I’ve changed my mind. I’m not getting married to you,” she said with an unhappy voice. He was such a bossy man.
Steering the wheel skillfully, Ronan snickered and said, “Well, I’d like to remind you Halle that you have signed your name on the deal. Now that you are on board, you belong to me.”
“I’m led astray, huh?” Halle said glancing at him. It was her first time checking his face seriously and she suddenly felt that they seemed to have known each other for many years.
