Why would Chester come here in the middle of the night?
They hurriedly got up, changed, and came downstairs. All the lights in the living room were on.
Chester sat on the sofa that lied at the center of the living room, silent. Behind him stood a bunch of bodyguards.
“Dad?” Manfred went forward and greeted him.
Chester immediately looked at him up and down, his eyes finally fixed on the wound on his arm.
“Take a seat, Doctor Vincent, please check his arm.”
“No big deal. I’ve taken care of this.” Manfred said.
But Chester was still worried, “Then let the doctor take a closer look at it. You can’t afford to be careless. Don’t forget who you are.” While he said that, Chester glanced at Selina sharply.
Manfred then sat down, and let Doctor Vincent examine his wound.
Finally, Doctor confirmed that it was just a minor injury, and he then redressed his wound.
Before leaving, Chester looked at Manfred and said seriously, “If you don’t want to go back to the Gordon Mansion, you don’t have to. But you’ve forgotten about your responsibilities over and over again just for a woman. I am disappointed.”
Hearing this, Manfred was still the same as usual, without a single expression on his face. After Chester finished his sentences, Manfred smiled, “You are right. I also feel bad. So I wanna take a month off. Can I?”
Chester got angry, “You think I can do nothing to you, don’t you?”
“Yes. Doesn’t Carl also work in the company? Uncle Jayden has always wanna look like a big shot, then why don’t you give them a chance?”
“Manfred!” Selina, who was standing aside, thought they were talking about angry nonsense. If they really fell out because of her, she would feel guilty.”
“Master Gordon, it’s all my fault. Please don’t blame Manfred.”
“It’s between father and son. You are not allowed in this conversation! If he really wants to take a break, then I’m all for it!” Chester then turned around and said to his assistant, “You heard him. Mr. Gordon is gonna take a month off. Make an announcement tomorrow. Jayden will take over all the business, starting tomorrow!”
The assistant looked at Manfred worriedly, and then at the furious Chester, and nodded, “Got it.”
After that, Chester and others all left.
“I’m sorry, honey.” Selina was frustrated, “It’s all my fault.”
Manfred shook his head, “Don’t you think it’s great now? Come on, I have a month off! Quite looking forward to it!”
Selina was speechless, “Why are you so happy? It seems you want to take a break from the very beginning.”
“What’s wrong?” Manfred said.
“Fine, just forget it. Maybe it’s good for you to get some rest.”
“Will you stay with me?” Manfred smiled.
“I have to work. Since now you don’t have any salary, I have to be the breadwinner, right?”
The breadwinner?
Selina looked quite serious, but Manfred couldn’t help but laugh, “Jeez. I am the president. I get paid annually.”
“Oh!” Selina looked shocked.
“What? Are you disappointed that you can’t be the breadwinner?”
“Well, yeah. Horace used to give me 10, 000 every month, so he could just boss me around. I hated that! Just 10, 000 a month. I can make that money soon.”
Manfred felt sorry for what she said. He patted her on the head, and said, “I trust you. If you get a raise, you treat me to dinner, what do you say?”
“No problem!” Selina smiled and nodded.
“But before that, how about treating me to an amazing sex?”
“Oh god, help me!” Selina turned around and ran away. But soon Manfred got her and hugged her tightly.
The next morning, Selina insisted to go to work instead of staying at home.
Manfred had no choice but to let her go.
However, it turned out no one had come to the company. After walking around for a while, Selina called Darnell.
“Why nobody’s in the company? Are we having a day off?”
The other end of the line sounded noisy. Darnell didn’t say anything until he found a quieter place, “Hey, you called me. What? You feel better?”
“Yeah, just a minor injury, no big deal. Hey, listen, I’m in the company now, but where is everybody?”
Darnell smiled bitterly and said, “This time our company are really done. After yesterday’s incidence, the project manager called me and threatened to terminate the cooperation, and asked for compensation. He said because of that, it’s very likely that their houses will be unsellable.”
Selina was stunned, “Then where are you now?”
“I’m working on it, but it doesn’t work. They want to sue us, and all our investments have been down the drain. Sorry, I am afraid that we don’t have to wait for Manfred to buy our company. We’re done.”
“Don’t be.” Selina also felt upset. In her heart, Long Peace Group was not only her career, but a legacy from her mother. It always reminded her of her mother.
It had taken her a long time to accept the fact that Darnell was in charge of the company, but now she was gonna lose it like forever?
After hanging up the phone, she stood alone for a long time.
“No, I can’t give up.”
Thinking of this, she hurriedly went downstairs and drove to that company.
When she arrived at the door, she happened to see Darnell being evicted by security guards. He didn’t seem to be in a good mood, as if he was going to hit them the next second.
She hurriedly ran forward and pulled him away, “Mr. Cornell.”
He was sulking. This was the first time Selina had seen him like this, without a trace of gentleness.
Judging from his expression, she knew that they hadn’t had a pleasant conversation.
She pursed her lips and said, “I’m the designer of Long Peace Group. May I speak to your manager?”
Before she could finish her sentence, the project manager walked out.
For some reason, he was polite to Selina. Maybe it was because that he was punished by Manfred last time. He said to her, “Ms. Jones, please don’t make it hard for us. It’s not that we are unsympathetic, but that we also can’t do anything about it. Do you know how much we have spent on this real estate project? But now with this whole thing, it’s gonna be difficult to sell these houses.”
What he said was reasonable. Selina also knew that if she didn’t stop now, she would be the unreasonable one.”
Maybe she really needed to say goodbye to Long Peace Group this time.
She turned around and was about to leave when the manager suddenly said, “Ms. Jones, there is another way. If someone can buy all the houses here, we might consider not to sue you.”
Selina stopped.
This was a good idea, but no one in this world would be so stupid.
Even though he knew that it was like selling ice to an Eskimo, he would still do it? Come on, it was so stupid. Then how about throwing hundreds of millions into a pond? At least there was a sound.
Seeing her turn a deaf ear, the manager continued,
“Ms. Jones, it may be impossible for others, but you can make it. You know Mr. Gordon of Far Eastern Group? Just say the word, and he can help you, right?”
