“What are you doing here, Devon?!”
Sylvia pulled her arm to make her stand. “I’m asking you! What are you doing here in our room?” She looked at the mess with an open mouth. “What did you do?!”
In retaliation, Devon twisted Sylvia’s hand on her arm and choked her.
“Where is my daughter?! Where is my Emily?! Give her back to me!”
Coughing, Sylvia was able to break free from her steely grip and stepped back. “You are really going nuts! I knew it all along that you were just acting! I told you already! Lucy is my daughter! She is not yours!”
“Then let me see her! Show her to me!” she challenged her in her last effort to ditch her horrible acting. “That’s the only time I’m going to believe you.”
“I can’t let you! You are going to take her away from us!”
Sylvia ran to the door but she outran her and was able to block the door before she was able to open it.
“No, I won’t. I know what it feels to have your child taken away from you. I won’t do that to you, Sylvia. Just please, show her to me if you’re telling the truth. I’m begging you.”
But she remained firm in her decision. With lips pursed together, Sylvia shook her head in refusal.
“No, I won’t. You don’t have the right to demand that of me, Devon. Brian and all of the family will know you’re just pretending. Get out of my way.”
That’s when Devon’s face became hard and unforgiving. She didn’t come here to only be beaten. There’s no option B. Either she gets out dead or a victorious.
Slowly, she walks up to Sylvia menacingly. She also did not forget to put a dangerous expression on her face.
“I asked you nicely, Sylvia. I begged you but you chose to be cruel. You want them to know my real motive then you leave me with no choice too. I want to play fairly in the best way possible but you still won’t yield.”
Sylvia stepped back, scared by the sudden change in her aura. “What are you talking about? I did not do anything wrong. You are the one who’s crazy here!”
Devon grinned. “Don’t you ever say anything to them or else I’ll give the evidence to my father that your family corrupted billions of dollars in the cartel business.”
Sylvia’s face went pale. “W-What are you talking about?!” she stuttered while trying to look brave. “Do not make up stories, Devon! My family didn’t do anything like that!”
“I have proof. I don’t want to come to the point of breaking up your precious family so I suggest you shut your mouth, you understand?”
Sylvia studied her face and smirked when she realized something. “You don’t have any evidence. If you have then you could have used it to blackmail me for you to see Lucy.”
“I supposed I was wrong for thinking that you’re a stupid woman. You are thinking. You want me to spill it all out to them what I learned? Come on! Let’s go outside! I’ll tell them that your dad consciously delayed the shipment so the customs could seize the goods last month. And should I tell my father that the head of the customs is none other than the one paid by your own mother to sabotage it?”
“Impossible!” she yelled in a shaking voice.” H-How did you…”
“You’re scared,” she cut her. “I’m hoping I could use my trump card on other things but you forced me to reveal it.”
The truth is, she was just actually bluffing. Gestoni already knows the betrayal but he’s just protecting Brian’s family from completely disintegrating. That angers Devon more. If he can do such a thing to this extent to protect her brother, why can’t he just return Emily to her?!
If a lie can save her and her motive, then she’d willingly lie over and over again.
“So if I were you Sylvia, I’d shut up my mouth, okay? And prepare Lucy for me. I want to see her as soon as possible.”
Her body was trembling when she left her sister-in-law in the room who was still shocked by the turn of events but the scene she’d walked into would make her knees tremble even more.
“Daemon!” She called for her husband whose gun was aimed at Brian in the living room.
“My wife is not crazy. Take that back!” Daemon shouted at Brian who stood there in the middle with his hands in the air.
“Daemon! No!” Devon ran beside him to pacify him. “Please Daemon, don’t do this. Put down your gun, please. For me.”
But he didn’t listen to her. He just kept his gun at Brian.
“What is happening here?! Daemon! Put down your gun! Please!” Melena screamed in horror upon witnessing the scene.
“Please Daemon. This is not what it should be. Clear off your head. Whatever he told you is nothing but a provocation for you to act like this so he’d have a reason to keep us distracted. Please, calm down for the sake of me and your daughter,” she whispered to him.
Daemon sighed and slowly put the gun down back into his pocket.
Melena and Devon sighed in relief.
“Brian! What did you do?” Melena asked her son roughly. “They are our visitors! If you can’t treat him as your brother-in-law, then at least think of him as a guest!”
“Mom, why are you telling me this? This motherfucker put a gun into my head in my own house! He’s a Druft, an enemy of our family! Why would I host an enemy?!” Brian pointed at Daemon. “He wanted to kill me!”
“I would really kill you for saying that Devon is crazy!” Daemon said in a deep angry tone. “One bullet is not enough. I would plant thousands and thousands upon your body!”
“See?! Did you hear that, mom?”
“Brian! Come to the study! We will talk about this! If you don’t want your father to know about your recent blunder, then come quickly!”
Brian can’t believe that his mother chose to side with Daemon and Devon but still, he did not have the choice but to comply but before going after her mother, he first threw a furious look at Daemon and Devon.
“This is not the end, Druft. I will kill you someday and your crazy wife can’t do anything about it,” he threatened him and walked off.
