Confronted him

Her hopes were shattered like a cheap glass. She did not expect this to hear from him knowing that they have somewhat already formed a bond or so she thought. Maybe she’s just assuming things that were not there in the first place.
“A surrogate? But I thought… I really thought it would be our child. That’s what I thought we had agreed upon.”
Daemon scoffed and shook his head. “See what I mean now? You caught feelings with me even when all I did was barely touch you. Now I’m really curious if you’re willing enough to kill me if I ever have sex with you and you bear my babies.” His face became menacing. “Don;t attempt to box me in, Devon. No woman will.”
He headed for the door and all she could do was let her tears fall.
“I really thought…” she tried to steady her voice when it began stammering. I really thought you are starting to have feelings for me,” she wanted to say but decided not to.
“You don’t understand me, Daemon. It’s not just because of your kisses or touch that I fell for you. It’s because of your sincere eyes when you look at me, in your concealed kindness,” instead she said.
Daemon stopped at the doorstep.
“You wanted me to fear you but your actions betray you. You tried hard to put a wall between us but your sincerity still reached me,” she continued. “Am I just being delusional? Am I just drawing it in my little head? Am I just being delusional? Am I Daemon? When you said that I’m trying to box you in, I am really hurt because how can you say that when you know that I truly depended on you? How can a mere helpless little me think of that when you’ve been nothing but a savior for me? I would not dare, Daemon. I would never overstep my way to you.”
“Then why are you telling me this? Why are you confessing your feelings to me if not for you to mess with my head and hope that you could reform me.” He turned to her. “I understand what you’re feeling now, Devon. You were swayed by my actions, of saving you but I only did it out of my responsibility. It’s not for your own sake actually. It’s more of mine. I need you to do something for me that’s why I did it so get rid of all the baloney you’re having with your head. Now decide if you will be the surrogate or not. There are plenty of women in line waiting to do it. If you decide not to do it then, I’ll give you a ticket and leave the country.”
Devon breathed hard and released her knuckles from her own clasped hands. “I’ll do it, Daemon. I… I’ll be the surrogate. I’ll bear your kids.”
“Good,” he said nonchalantly. “You’ll have a hefty sum of money after you deliver my kids. I’ll arrange a check-up tomorrow.”
Devon just smiled to herself bitterly and slowly sank on the soft covers of the bed that she knows that she’ll need to vacate given the development of her relationship with Daemon.
She is shocked and beyond perplexed with what happened. She cannot even grasp how it goes from this. She swore he is so happy and relieved too when he saw her at that wedding and when he touched her finally, she heard him sigh in gratitude.
“My father made some sense here. Our worlds will never collide, Daemon.”
After contemplating, she went out of the room looking like she never experienced her first heartbreak in love. She glammed herself, put on some make-up, wore the new dress he bought for her, and sprayed her favorite perfume. She might have been rejected by the mafia king but she is still his wife. On the outside, no one should look down on her.
She learned a lesson today. Sure, you can confess all your feelings to someone and be rejected by him but do not let yourself be stuck in it.
He doesn’t want her but it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the world. There is still a far new life ahead of her.
Devon went to the ground floor of the sprawling mansion to search for the man who had been there during the time when she was abducted. She saw him, punching his beaten punching bag hanging from the ceiling down in the silent gym.
She knows he sensed her when she entered the door but he continued acting like he didn’t so she walked up to him to stand in front of him replacing the punching bag.
“What do you want, princess?” he asked, trying to look down at her.
“Ahh, now you know me. Princess? I’m no longer that, Henry. I am now the wife of the man you are serving with your life. I am your mafia’s wife but you dare let me fall in the trap. You handed me the phone knowing it’s my mother in the other line.”
She approached him until her nose briefly touched him.
“Henry, do you know that it’s my mother who called but you didn’t notify my husband?” she asked while staring at the trickles of sweat on his bare torso. “You’re guarding me and yet you didn’t stop a potential threat. How can Daemon ever trust someone who can’t do his job well?”
That sent Henry on an edge. He looked at her in disbelief like he finally discovered her true nature.
“So you are now finally showing your true colors, Devon. My suspicion is right all along. You were sent by your family to ruin Daemon and he perfectly bit the fish trap. What are your plans? What do you want from him?”
She smirked. “Another assuming male who pretends that he can read minds and situations.”
“I won’t let you succeed, Devon. You won’t. I will keep my eyes on you.”
She smiled at him bitterly when she remembered how Daemon rejected her. “Sorry to say but you’ve got nothing to guard for anymore. I failed. Miserably.”
Meters away from them, Daemon just stood from a distance watching them.
