Slowly losing hope

Book:The Billionaire Mafia's Wife Published:2024-6-3

Daemon’s eyes shone like demons against Henry’s bloodied face. It has been exactly an hour since they all search for her missing wife but she is nowhere to be found. All the CCTV cameras are magically not working during the interval and there is no eye witness either so he went back to his home just in case but there’s no shadow of Devon.
“I told you to keep your eyes to my wife, Henry! Now where is she?! Where is she?!”
He threw him to the ground and wiped the sweat on his face. His wife is missing on the first night that he will reveal her to the world. He failed her. He wasn’t able to protect her just like she asked him to.
“Relax, big boy. It’s so unlike of you to react this way. It’s just a woman, Daemon. You can still find plenty of them. I’m available tonight, Daemon. I will love you and I will make you forget her.”
He shot Maddy a look that instantly made her shut her mouth. “That is my wife you’re talking about. Watch your mouth. And I don’t need you to be here, Maddy. Get out of here.”
He went inside the house. All the people are frantic over his agitation. His men are also on the move but he felt that something is still not enough. They still can’t find her. There must be something he is not doing right.
“Have you ever checked if she is back to her family? You must have bored her so much that she thought that it’s much more exciting to play with the old grumpy man Joffrey,” Maddy taunted him.
He slowly turned to the woman while taking out the gun from his pants. He directly aimed it at Maddy and fired a shot. Good thing that she immediately ducked down or else it could have shattered her skull.
“W-What the fuck are you doing?” she shouted with tremors in her voice.
“One more word and I’ll put a hole in your head, understand?”
He shut the doors closed to their bedroom and run his hand through his hair with frustration. This is bad. He is losing focus already. It can’t be. This can’t be.
He plucked out the phone from his pocket and called Jack, the spy he planted in the Farrows, but he is still not picking it.
“Damn it! Damn it!”
He punched the wall repeatedly until he can’t feel anything in his hand. He’s positive that his wife is held captive by her family now but he cannot even do something about it. He can’t penetrate the territory of his number one enemy.
They must have been thinking of marrying her again to Joffrey or worse, they must be planning of shipping her off overseas where she is not within his reach anymore.
“No, I won’t let it happen. I’ll take back Devon. I’ll take back my wife.”
He rushed out of the room and into the car where his goons are waiting. If he needs to kill people now, he will do it. If he needs to massacre them just to get back his wife, he will gladly do it willingly.
“COME on Devon. Get out and play with me honey. Come on, Devon. It’s okay to do it now Devon. I won’t force you just like how that Daemon did to you. I’ll make sure you enjoy your first night with me.”
She covered her ears to block out Joffrey’s voice from outside her room. She thought she will have no visitors for tonight so she was so scared when he just knocked out of the blue. The whole house must have been playing deaf to his voice or they are just giving him a pass since he will be her husband tomorrow.
“Open the door, Devon. Or do you want me to open it myself?”
Her eyes widened when the door knob moved so she ran to it and pushed her sofa to the door. He must have gotten hold of the master key.
The shaking of the door intensified so she pulled her drawers and put it on top of the sofa to prevent the door from giving in.
“Devon! Open the door or I will really force myself to you! Devon!”
She was already drenched in tears and the blood from her bitten lips is already staining her nightgown but she’d rather die than let him hear her cries. She will not give him the satisfaction to slowly kill her with fear and disgust.
“You are only making me too hungry for you, my wife. Just wait for tomorrow and you’ll see how I feast on you.”
She almost gagged at his words. She’d rather kill herself than let him touch even a strand of her hair.
Devon has already decided. If Daemon will not come for him then she will do anything to steal some guns and kill herself in front of the family.
The rattling stopped so she let go of her lips and sobbed lightly. Hugging herself, she collapsed on the bed in exhaustion.
“Why do I have to live like this? Why do I have to live like this?” She began questioning the life she has been led. “Why are they treating me like this? I am not a toy. I am just a girl. I’m a human being too. Why do they have to make me feel like I’m just an object? Why?!”
She sat up on the bed and looked up at the moon on the sky. If she jumped on her balcony, then that would be the end of everything for her. It will be the end of her suffering.
“But I won’t be able to see Daemon again. I need to see him. I wanted to see him.”
So she kept on waiting. Time is like a ticking bomb for her. Every second is bringing her nothing but anxiousness.
“Daemon, please hurry. I might really just jump now. I might kill myself before seeing you again.”
