Lucien’s Pov:
This is one decision that I have made that I don’t know if it was for the best or not, me having to choose between three people who I treasured very well. The twins haven’t been anything but good to me, though I have noticed Nengi’s advances on Nicholas I ignored it. I know that Nicholas has always loved her since childhood, and everybody knows her bond with the twins especially Nicholas which surprised me when Alpha Den arranged a bride for Nicholas. I was damn shocked when Alpha and Luna didn’t choose Nengi as Nicholas’s bride but someone else from the crystal mountain pack far away from our pack as his wife. My shock wilted more when the moon goddess honored Nengi as my mate, my childhood crush.
We were all good till the day she found out that we are mates, her attitude towards me changed within a twinkle of an eye. My presence disgusts her, all she ever wants is Nicholas, and this still breaks me into pieces. And this makes me not like Nicholas that much. I have everything that a lady could want from a man just that Nicholas is better than me in terms of body structure and face but I wasn’t that bad. I didn’t blame Nicholas because he hasn’t reciprocated the same energy to her or does he?
They haven’t fuck yet, he only sees her as his little sister that’s what he told me. I just hope that it is all and that there isn’t emotional attachment because if I ever find out that something is going on with the two of them I won’t think twice about wiping Nicholas out of the earth though nobody knew that we were mate since she insisted that we keep it a secret till when she is ready. My family and hers weren’t on good terms but I don’t mind showing her off, she is like the air that I breathe in.
I choose to spy on the twins despite not knowing her reasons because that means we will always be stuck together. At least I will get to be seeing and talk with her every day, I just hope I am doing the right time.
“She is too innocent so I know that anything she has going in that small head of hers won’t be any bad…….” I whispered within myself.
Stopping in front of her room door, I breathe in and out before nervously knocking on it. After several knocks, the door was pulled open revealing her maid Susan.
“Good afternoon, sir Lucien,” barely her neck as a sign of submissiveness she greeted.
“Afternoon to you too, Susan…..” She blushes shyly with her head bent down. “Am I allowed inside….” I jokingly asked her since she was standing in front of me fiddling with her uniform while smiling sheepishly though I do find her behavior quite interesting that’s not why I am here, I need to see my jewel.
“Yes, yes….. you can come in,” she shifts sideways for me to enter inside.
Entering I kept glancing around her room, gazing to know if I can get a glimpse of her, my jewel. “I can assume that you are here to see Miss Nengi…..” She mumbled.
“Yes, but I can’t see her here…..” I replied.
“She is in her study…….” She countered, I tried striding towards her study when Susan quickly blocked my way, “Sorry, sir, she doesn’t like anyone entering her study without her consent…..” With her head cast down, she whispered.
“I am not anyone, so excuse me….” I tried making a move again but she instantly stopped me before I took a step.
“Are you alright……” I snapped at her, I am her goddamn mate, not anyone. Can’t she see it, gosh! I don’t blame her but Nengi who has decided to make our bond a secret.
“Get out of my way……” I coldly said to her.
“Please sir, don’t do this I will be in terrible trouble if you do this….. please,” she pleads.
Swallowing hard I proceeded towards the door but she quickly held me by the leg “please sir….” Looking at her frightened face my heart melted “Go and inform her that I am here…..” I muttered.
“Thanks….. Sir,” she seems happy and relaxed.” Please have a seat and I will be right back,” she said before disappearing into those closed doors. Sitting down on the sofa with a glass of whiskey I mumbled to myself “She got a loyal maid……”
“But why is she so scared? Nengi is not that bad, she couldn’t even hurt an ant and talk more of punishing her. She was overdoing it, maybe wanting to get a reaction out of me,” I laughed within me.
“She should be happy working under Nengi kind-hearted lady,” I uttered.
It wasn’t long before the door to the study was pulled open, sitting upright to see my jewel. My facial expression hardened as Susan walked out wanting to yell at her about Nengi’s way about, but behind her was my Jewel, the girl that I can’t trade for anything on this earth. She looks amazing just like always, closing the door she motioned Susan to leave us alone.
“You can go, Susan…..” She ordered.
“But ma, I haven’t finished my d….. The word got caught in her throat as Nengi glanced at her, nodding her head rapidly, and she fearfully left the room. ” You can sit……” she said when taking a seat a few meters away from me.
My smile got wiped out as she gazed disgustedly at me, clearing my throat. I tried speaking but she beat me to it “Why are you here……? Do you get any information?” She went straight to the point without even asking me how I have been? Her coldness toward me wounds and bleeds my heart.
Clearing my throat, I mumbled to her “How are you too?” Glaring at me, she spits “Do it look like I am here for jokes? I have a lot to do so you better go straight to the point,”
“But at least ask how am I doing?” I whined. Glaring at me, she rubs her scalp in frustration. I know she never had any feelings for me but being too cold on me wasn’t the best idea. I thought that the mate bond softens the heart but this one doesn’t seem like the mate bond has any effect on her because she is too tight on me. I will never let her go no matter what.
“Besides we are mates and mates supposed to know…… I didn’t get to finish before she interrupted me ” Just shut the fuck up!!……”
“What’s your problem? Is this what I told you to do?” She half yelled.
“Ok, sorry, calm down, is that just…… I still didn’t get to finish before she jumps in again.
” Lucien!… ” There was a hint of warning in her tone. “So what do you have for today…..?”
