Mira’s Pov:
As I sit in front of my dressing table, Angel skillfully styles my hair into a sleek ponytail. It’s the night of the welcome party, and I’ve already finished assisting Virginia in choosing the perfect outfit for tonight’s event. I’m excited to see everyone’s stylish ensembles and have a great time!
The memories of yesterday flood my mind, overwhelming me completely. Dealing with Nengi’s presence and the conflicting emotions I feel towards Derrick is a constant struggle. I can’t help but wonder how the people around me will react when they find out that I’m mated to both brothers, my husband’s twin included. It feels like an impossible situation, my worst nightmare comes true. I question how the moon goddess could see any goodness in this.
It feels like a bad omen like this whole situation is destined to end in heartbreak. I’m damn sure that the bond between Derrick and Nicholas won’t be broken, and it’s me who will end up crushed. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before everything backfires on me, and that’s why I feel the urge to run away from this place before they find out.
For I don’t know how long I am going to hide from them, soon or later they will find out and that will be my doom. The thought of facing Derrick is terrifying, and running away seems like the only option to escape the impending doom. But hiding forever won’t solve anything.
“Now we are all set to go…,” Angel exclaimed with a smile, admiring her handiwork.
“So soon…” I surprisingly uttered as I stared at myself in the mirror, taking in my transformed appearance. I can’t deny that I look more beautiful, but that very thought fills me with fear. The last thing I want is to become the center of attention, to attract the gaze of Derrick and Nicholas. I know deep down that it won’t end well if they start to notice me. It’s like walking on a tightrope, trying to maintain my balance between wanting to be myself and the fear of the consequences that may follow.
“I am sure I am not this person that I am seeing in this mirror,” I mumbled.
“Haha… really, if it’s not you, then who is it?” Angel teasingly muttered, playfully rolling my eyes. Well, I guess it’s still me, but with a little extra sparkle and confidence. It’s just amazing how a little change can make us feel like a whole new person, isn’t it?
“I don’t want to attract attention to myself…” I started to say, but before I could finish, Angel excitedly clapped her hands and jumped in happiness. “That’s the spirit, baby girl! You have to turn heads tonight,” she exclaimed with enthusiasm.
I glanced at her before sighing and walking towards my bed. I sat down and perked up at her with a troubled look. “And that’s it because I didn’t want attention… I don’t want to attract attention to myself,” I reiterated, emphasizing my desire to stay out of the spotlight.
“I understand, dear. But remember, you’re Luna, and you’re not supposed to dress tattered. You’re supposed to be the one that everyone wants to see tonight, aside from the celebrant, Derrick,” she said, walking towards me and sitting beside me. She gently rubbed my back to comfort me. Sometimes we indeed have to step out of our comfort zones and embrace the attention but definitely not today.
And this is my fear because being the future Luna with Derrick as the celebrant, all eyes will be on us, and that’s what scares me too. I’m afraid of attending this party, but I can’t come up with a good enough excuse to skip it without raising suspicion. It’s a tough situation to be in.
“You won’t understand, dear,” I muttered, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness.
“I understand, dear. You didn’t want attention because you’re not ready for that yet,” Angel countered, her voice filled with understanding.
“I wish it was only that…,” I mumbled within, my voice filled with a mix of frustration and sadness. It’s true, there’s more to it than just not being ready for attention. Sometimes, there are deeper fears and concerns that hold us back. And I am not just ready to share my worries with her yet.
“We are together in this,” Heaven says to me, her voice filled with assurance and support. It’s comforting to know that we have each other to lean on during challenging times. Let’s navigate through this journey together, supporting one another every step of the way. We’ve got this!
“Thanks,” I nod my head as I appreciate her, expressing my gratitude. It means a lot to have someone like Heaven by my side, offering support and understanding. Our friendship is truly invaluable, and I’m grateful for our connection.
“Where are you guys? The party has long started……” Virginia mind link me.
“We’ll be there in a minute,” I replied, my voice filled with tension.
“Take your time and look good for the………. Mmm,” she said with a beaming smile, her words filled with excitement.
“Ouch!…..” I mumbled with a disgusted tone.
“Haha…” She chuckles, enjoying the lighthearted moment before she shuts the mind link.
“We have to go…” said Angel, her voice filled with a sense of urgency. It’s time to wrap up our conversation and move on to our next adventure.
“Yeah, indeed…….” I weakly mumbled.
Standing up, I walked towards the mirror and stared at my reflection again. I stretched my clothes, swallowed hard, and looked at myself in the mirror, trying to calm my breath. “It’s just for tonight, we can do it,” I whispered, encouraging myself.
“It is just for tonight, we can do it… It is just for tonight, we can do it. It is just for tonight, we can do it,” I repeated, echoing the words of encouragement while reminding myself that I am strong and capable.
With my eyes closed, I kept repeating the words, “It is just for tonight, we can do it… It is just for tonight, we can do it,” allowing them to echo in my head. I tightly clenched my hands on my gown, feeling the power of those words. They wrapped around my thoughts, giving me the encouragement I needed. Taking a deep breath, I opened my eyes, ready to face whatever lies ahead.
“Let’s go…” I mumbled to Angel, exhaling deeply before motioning for us to start. With a phony smile on my face, she opened the door for me to step out, and we began our walk towards the party.
“Hey, where are you? Everybody wants to see you…” Virginia asked.
“Everybody!!…” I undoubtedly muttered. It’s amazing to feel so wanted and appreciated but today is not one of those days.
“Yeah, Derrick wants to meet his brother’s wife…” Virginia complained. I felt a jolt of surprise and disbelief as those words echoed in my mind. My head spun, and I struggled to maintain my balance, holding onto my thoughts.
“You ok, dear…” Holding me to keep me steady, Angel asked.
“You there……you there, Mira!” with concern Virginia called me.
“Mira, baby… you there,” Virginia kept calling me. Feeling overwhelmed, I cut off the mind link. With nerves racing, I looked at a confused Angel and suggested we continue our walk. Hopefully, I just pray for a way out of this situation. As we arrived at the place, the music was booming, creating an electric atmosphere.
People were roaming all over the place, some were drunk, and some were making out. Glancing at the whole scene, I gestured for Angel to mingle with the crowd. I needed to find a way to escape from this party. After hours of her persisting in staying with me, she eventually left.
As I walked sneakily towards the river bank, the whole place was calm, with only the sound of the river filling the air. Standing there, watching the river, the breeze gently blowing my hair sideways, I folded my hands and closed my eyes, savoring the scent of the river. But suddenly, my peaceful moment was interrupted by an electric sparkle that shot through my body. I felt a muscular figure hugging me from behind, and in that moment, it just felt right. I didn’t want to wake up from that dream-like embrace.
“Hello, pretty…….” My heart raced as he whispered, his hand caressing my body, and his head resting on the nook of my neck. It was a moment filled with a mix of excitement and panic.
“Umm…….” With my eyes closed, I let out a soft moan, feeling a sense of familiarity in his intoxicating voice.
“I have been searching for you throughout the party……. Why do you always run away from me?” He barely whispered to my ear and that’s when it hit me ***Derrick**** His whispered words sent a shiver down my spine.
Startled, I turned around and pushed him away. My voice filled with surprise and frustration, “What the heck? Why are you doing this?”
