Coming out of the bathroom, Mira took a peek at Angel holding a nylon, but she ignored her and continued with what she was doing.
“Mira, Luna requested that you put on this necklace when dressing up,” Angel said.
“How? I mean, why should I put on this expensive jewelry just to stay in my room?” Mira asked, confused.
“She means when you are dressing for the party,” Angel muttered.
“Haha….. You should know that I am not a party type, and besides, who told her that I am going to a party?” Mira stared at Angel as if she had lost it.
“Nobody is saying that you are a party type, just……” Mira didn’t allow her to finish as she jumped in, “Then what? Because I am yet to understand anything that you are saying……”
“Can you calm down and allow me to finish?” Angel pleads.
“Ok, whatever, go ahead……” murmured Mira.
“Fine, she means tonight’s party…..” Angel mumbled cheerfully.
“Tonight’s party!!……. What do you mean? Is there a party tonight that I didn’t know about?” Mira surprisingly muttered.
“Yes, there is a party tonight…… ” replied Angel.
“And you didn’t tell me…….” Mira uttered surprisingly.
“Sorry……. that was what I wanted to tell you yesterday, but we both got carried away about the secret passage,” Angel mumbled sadly.
“Ouch!!…. So what are they celebrating?” Mira said as she ruffled her hair in frustration. She is not ready to meet any of the siblings, but she’s curious about the celebration.
Though she knows she won’t run away from her fate for long. She has to face it sooner or later, and the time is now. The time is tonight,” she signs, glancing at Angel.
“They are throwing a welcome party for Derrick,” Angel mentioned, beaming with a smile as her eyes lit up.
With the way Angel drools over Derrick, Mira fears their relationship wouldn’t be the same if Angel found out they’re mated. That’s why Mira was afraid of opening up to Angel. She didn’t want anything to put an end to their relationship, especially now that they were getting along well. She still had the urge to growl as Angel dreamily and lustfully talked about Derrick.
“Enough!” Mira couldn’t bear Angel talking about Derrick in that manner, so she told her to stop.
“Any problem?” Angel asked, confused. If only she knew how Mira was trying to calm herself to avoid tearing her canines into pieces.
“Nothing,” Mira gives her a phony smile, trying to calm herself.
“So, when is the party?” Mira asked, not because she wanted to know the time, but to change the topic and avoid any regrets.
“Tonight, around 8 p. m.,” answered Angel, nodding her head. Mira thanked her. Meanwhile, Luna mind-linked her.
“Mira, baby, are you busy?” Virginia asked through the mind link.
“Nope, any problem?” Mira asked, feeling confused. This was the first time Luna mind-linked her since she joined the pack. It was the first time she received a mind link after the ritual done a day after their wedding to seal her with the pack.
“Please, I need you to come to my room and help me out,” Virginia pleaded.
“I’ll be there in a few minutes,” retorted Mira.
“Luna needs me in her room now,” Mira turned around, shutting the mind link. She told Angel, who nodded and gestured for her to go ahead.
“I’ll use the opportunity to look for the clothes you’ll wear tonight,” Angel said with a beaming smile. Mira smiled in return before exiting the room.
Walking down the passage, she tries to find a strategy not to attend the party because there is the possibility that she is going to meet Nicholas and Derrick, and that little witch Nengi. She sighs before she continues her walk. Her nose flares as the smell of a mixture of the deep ocean and dry woods hits her. This is the smell that she has grown familiar with, and as much as she likes the smell of the ocean and the woods, she hates the person that it is coming from.
“Well… well, who do we have here?” the tiny sweet voice that disgusts her so much says. Even without turning her back, she already knows the person behind her, and dealing with her is the last thing that she wants to do now.
“Where did you run to?”
“I thought that you were dead, but here you are walking like the dead creature that you are,” the person taunts her. Mira breathes in and tries walking away, but luck isn’t on her side.
“When I am talking to you, you turn around and look at me… you ugly bitch!” the person yells as she yanks Mira back and flings her around to face her, her nails sinking into Mira’s skin.
“Ha!… You are hurting me, Nengi,” Mira mumbles, though she tries to act strong to avoid Nengi seeing her in pain. The hurt is visible in her tone and eyes.
“Next time when I am talking to you… you look at me, do you get me!?” Nengi sneers at Mira.
“Are you not talking, you pathetic fool?” Nengi dangerously growls at her. But with the Alpha blood coursing through her veins, Nengi’s growl had no effect on her. However, she couldn’t deny that Nengi’s menacing presence was intimidating. As the pain in her shoulder intensifies, Mira’s focus snaps back to reality.
“What the fuck!” Mira cries out as Nengi digs her nails deeper into her skin, realizing that her aura has no impact on Mira.
“You’re seriously hurting me,” Mira pleads, tears streaming down her cheeks. She fights to keep her composure, but Nengi smirks, reveling in Mira’s vulnerability.
“Please…” Mira’s voice trembles with pain. “What do you want from me?”
“I want you to disappear into thin air… I want you…” Nengi’s words trail off as a deep, intoxicating voice interrupts her. Caught off guard, Mira hadn’t noticed the presence behind them.
“What’s happening here?” The deep, captivating voice inquires. Nengi pushes Mira aside, pretending to help her up.
“Ouch!” Mira cries out as her backside hits the cold floor.
“Baby girl, can you stand on your own?” Nengi asks, pretending to help Mira up. As she leans down, she whispers in Mira’s ear, “This is just the beginning…” Her words send a dangerous chill down Mira’s spine.
“Hmm…” the figure behind them chuckles, captivated by the sweet scent of vanilla and strawberry.
“Oh! Baby boy just trying to help this pathetic fool up,” Nengi sarcastically mumbles, her tone flirty as she turns around. Mira resists the urge to growl at her, determined to avoid any trouble with Nengi. But her attention is drawn to the figure behind them, the one person she’s been avoiding all this time… Derrick.
