When Tim heard it, his frown slowly eased.
As of now, Abby’s status has taken a huge downfall. He was hoping that she would at least have a place to stay.
The husband and wife were eagerly discussing as they walked in. As they lifted their heads, they saw Eva all dressed up and about to go out.
“Eva, where are you going?” Tim asked.
Eva wore a tiny tank top and a torn and tattered jeans skirt. Her hair draped over her shoulders and she chewed gum. She looked like a spoilt brat.
“Out for some fun.”
Tim was about to say something but was stopped by Tina.
“She is all grown up, and it’s normal that she has her own circle of friends. You’re old and don’t interfere with her matters. Come on, let’s go and discuss some matters…”
Tim wanted to say something again and was pushed by Tina into the room.
At the Davis’ Residential Villa sits at the foot of S Mountain in G City and spans several thousand acres of land.
When the children of the Davis family grew up, they would choose a place nearby to stay for ease of traveling to work. The family rules were that every weekend they will have to go back for a family dinner.
Luna drove a luxury car home late one night.
The car entered the garage and the eldest daughter carried a branded bag and exited the car. With a fling, she tossed the car keys towards the servant.
“Hey, take care of it.”
“Yes, Miss.”
Luna kept her head up and walked in her four-inch stilettos towards the main residence with the servant following closely behind.
“Where’s my father?” Luna asked as she reached the door. She noticed through the windows that the residence was pitch black and it looked like no one was home.
“Sir had gone to his bedroom.” The servant answered respectfully.
Luna stopped and appeared to have something on her mind and asked, “Are the people back for tonight’s dinner here yet?”
The servant shook her head, “No.”
Luna didn’t ask anymore. Ever since grandpa fell ill and was hospitalized, the people attending the weekly dinner have been reducing and there was never once that everyone attended. She didn’t know if it was on purpose or otherwise. It was either some were busy or others were out of town.
She turned around and walked towards the third luxury unit.
She saw the green cull de sac from afar. Under the orange light of the street lamps, it was beautiful as the ancient palace.
A servant saw her from a distance and ran over to welcome her.
“Miss Luna, you’re finally back.”
Luna nodded and pushed her bag into her arms, “Where’s my father?”
“He is at the study. Sir thought that you would be back for dinner and specially waited for you till rather late.”
“Oh, okay.” Luna nodded. She walked towards Ralph Davies’s room.
“Knock knock…”
The tightly closed door reverberated and after a while, a middle-aged man’s deep voice replied.
“Come in.”
“Father, I’m back to visit you.” Luna walked in, didn’t think twice, and rushed into his arms.
The man had a head of black hair and thick eyebrows with bronze-colored complexion. A pair of sharp and alert eyes. Though he has reached his middle age, he was dashing and authoritative.
This person was the Davis family’s main residence owner, Patriarch Paul Davies’s eldest son, Ralph.
When he saw that his daughter dived into his arms, Ralph raised his eyebrows and said responsibly, “You’re a grown girl, don’t be brash and reckless. Behave yourself!”
“Haha, dad, I missed you.” Luna acted like a pampered little girl and started to tidy up the scattered documents on the table.
Luna pouted her mouth.
“Why, have you quarreled with Ivan? Ivan is a good kid and his character is pretty good. You should watch yourself and don’t drive him away.”
“Dad, what are you saying?” Luna started to charm her father.
“Heh heh… don’t I understand my own daughter?” Ralph eyes lit up.
“It’s not because of Ivan.” Luna’s eyebrows slanted. She continued, “It’s all because of big brother.”
“Brian? What did he do to you? Doesn’t he spoil you all the time?”
Luna sighed a long breath and said, “It’s all because of a woman. A newcomer to the office and she’s a slut. She flirts with all the high management and eventually got her claws on brother.”
“There’s such a thing?” Ralph was mildly surprised.
“She wanted brother to carry her into the office in full view of the entire company. The reputation of the Davies group will be ruined by this slut. It would still be acceptable if she simply loved brother but she is still involved with other men. Dad, do you think that someone like her is able to enter our doors?”
“Of course not!” Ralph’s expression changed for the worse and the glare that shot from his eyes was stern and chilling.
“But now brother has been entirely under the spell of that woman, listening to her every word. I couldn’t endure it anymore and wanted to fire her but didn’t expect brother to scold me!”
Luna said and pouted her mouth pitifully while looking at her father, “Dad, do you think that I was wrong to do this?”
“No, you’re right, it’s that rascal that’s wrong.”
“Yes, if I was wrong, I wouldn’t retaliate no matter how he scolded me. But I can’t take this lying down with what that woman’s doing.” Luna started to tug onto Ralph’s sleeve and with a look like when she was a little girl, “Dad, you must give me some justice and sort out that woman. Otherwise, the Davies family reputation would be wrecked by her.”
Ralph was fired up internally, “I will sort out that scoundrel right after that woman!”
Luna was satisfied and was ready to leave the study room. As she walked to the door, she recalled, turned, and asked, “Dad, how is grandma’s health?”
Ralph looked at her calmly but didn’t speak a word.
The non-answer made Luna feel uneasy and she quickly continued, “I’ll go and visit her right now.”
She didn’t expect Ralph’s expression to change. The kind and gentle father suddenly turned into a stern and chilling stranger.
She only heard Ralph said warmly, “Grandma needs peace and quiet to rest. You’d better not go and disturb her.”
“Er… Okay.”
Though Luna knew that her father loved and spoilt her, in her heart, she respected him a lot.
