Marabella
Time seems to stop the moment my brother steps onto the field. Panic seizes me, and my fathers look at him, startled. Eziah only has shorts on, showing he shifted and ran here. How he escaped my mother’s watchful eyes is beyond me. But regardless of all that, he is definitely pissed off.
This is precisely why I never intended to tell anyone. Jonah, telling his father what happened with Kyan, had started this entire mess. And suddenly I can’t find a way out of it. I don’t want my mate to get hurt. No matter what he did, he is still my mate. It’s just a colossal mess now. And I wish I could turn back time.
Kora whimpers in my head. Eziah spends most of his time training with his magic, while I am too scared to try with mine. Despite my parent’s urging, I should, but it is more than that. Eziah always goes to the Moon Goddess realm while I struggle to even pass through the portal into that realm.
It is like stepping into a place I don’t belong, and the chills it gives me make me never want to go back after the first few times. Eziah is powerful and in control. Whilst when I use my power, I lose control and end up hurting people without meaning to.
Maddox presses forward and steps toward him, but Eziah backhands the air, sending him flying before he even gets within twenty feet of him. Seeing this firsthand is overwhelming. My heart pounds faster. Fear of what could happen ignites a storm of emotion within me.
“Eziah!” I call, rushing over to him, and he growls at me. However, I am shocked to hear the thunderous roar that leaves Kyan when he does. I whip my head in Kyan’s direction as our eyes meet. But I am moved from my position when Eziah smiles, tugging me behind him and turning his gaze on Kyan. Sage rushes over, trying to pull me away, and I struggle against her hold.
“We have to stop this,” I whisper to her, but she ignores me.
“It is how things are handled here. We can’t interfere,” she says to me dismissively.
Is nobody even going to give me a second to explain? “No, you don’t understand,” I tell her, panic clear in my voice, as I plead for her to just listen to me. However, everything I try to say falls on deaf ears.
“No, what I understand is Kyan needs to pay for what he did, Marabella!” Sage growls at me before cupping my face. Tears trek down my face, and I shake my head.
Can’t they see the only person any of this would hurt besides Kyan, is me? I don’t get a chance to voice any of that when I hear a thunderous clap. The sound explodes across the sky and bounces off the trees. I glance over at Kyan to see Eziah’s golden, glowing hands connect with Kyan’s face.
The hit is like a blow to the stomach, and I stagger back as pain ripples through me. I gasp, glancing at Eziah to see Maddox and Ares trying to separate them, but Kyan isn’t even fighting back. He is simply blocking him, which is making Eziah angrier. The more Kyan refuses to fight back, the more Eziah becomes mental with rage.
“Fight back, you bastard!” Eziah growls, before suddenly shifting. His black wolf Malachi takes over him. Eziah is a sight to behold, his fur jet black except for the tips, which are a gold and silver color; he is truly magnificent and the complete opposite of Kora.
Kora is snow white with black-tipped fur. Both are beautiful in their own ways, alike yet complete opposites. He launches himself at Kyan, his eyes blazing with rage with one thought in mind.
To my horror, Kyan doesn’t shift. Instead, sidesteps and deflects his blows. I try to run out on the field when I hear storm clouds roll across the sky, and I see Kyan’s blistering fiery anger. I notice the dark clouds are linked to Kyan, his anger fuels the intensity of the storm brewing. The angrier he gets, the darker the sky gets, the stronger the wind becomes, and the air feels thick with electricity.
Thunder booms around us, but Kyan still only defends, not fighting back, as if he is trying not to hurt my brother. Instead, he just takes whatever Eziah throws at him.
“Kaif, shift you fool,” I scream out at them, escaping the clutches of Sage only to be grabbed by Jonah. My anger grows. Why is no one listening?
“Dad, do something!” I scream when Eziah shifts back before both his hands glow vibrantly. I have never seen him use power like this before. In fact, I didn’t even know he possessed such power.
I’m both equal parts in awe and horrified by the sight before me. Did my parents know about this? Mom always said she was unaware of exactly what we were capable of. We were supposed to both be Gemini wolves like her, but when she died and was brought back, our power was split between us. No one knows what that truly means.
Now witnessing it for myself, I can see why she fears our powers. Eziah is a monster when angry. And right now, that anger is burning white hot. His anger is unrelenting as he raises his hands, and the ripple of energy blasts through me.
“Fuck, we need to get out of here,” Jonah gasps behind me, trying to yank me back, but all I can do is focus on is Kyan, standing there glaring at Eziah.
Maddox and Ares try to grab a hold of Eziah and haul him off, only to be tossed back, both hitting the ground with a crashing thud. They roll as the wind picks up, and the light suddenly becomes blinding. I shield my eyes, not able to handle the brightness as Eziah’s hands glow brighter; it’s like trying to stare at the sun.
The orbs grow bigger and bigger until his hands are completely obscured, before he brings them together, forming a large sphere. I have never seen something so powerful, and for a second, I feel like I don’t know this person. I don’t recognize Eziah.
He rolls his hand together; the power emanating from him takes my breath away. Kyan drops his hands, his fingers flicker, and I see the tendrils of darkness slivering between his fingers. Slowly, they move like he is just waiting to see if he is gonna play this game or not.
“Eziah enough, point proven,” Kyan says calmly.
“No, I don’t think it is; it will never be enough for what you tried to do,” Eziah snarls. Eziah flings the gold orb at Kyan, who moves quickly. A ball of black mist erupts from Kyan, engulfing him, and electricity slivers up his arms, shielding him. Kyan moves with blinding speed. Eziah has power, but he doesn’t have the skill Kyan has.
