Evangeline’s POV
.
After what felt like an eternity but in reality, it was only a few minutes, I moved away from him because I felt like we were moving too fast in this relationship without knowing each other. A low growl came out of Daniel’s mouth before he couldn’t control himself. I raised my eyebrow to know the reason behind his sudden growl.
“My wolf doesn’t like it.”, He said. “But I understand. You will be needing some personal space. I won’t mind it.”, He added.
Should I thank him or something for that? How awkward…. And I could feel staring at me, too waiting for my reaction.
Unable to come out with a proper answer, I just nodded stupidly. “I think we should sleep?.”, I finally said openly my mouth to speak but it came more like a question.
“Yeah, we should.”, He responded nodding his head.
“You take the bed. I will use the couch.”, He added after thinking for a while. Just because I need some time, didn’t mean we couldn’t sleep together!
“Well, we can share the bed.”
He smirked and raise his eyebrows in a teasing manner. His eyes beaming with mischievousness.
“Don’t get any wrong ideas, Mister. I need some space but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to give any chance to our marriage.”, I thought to explain that to him, who was giving me not so innocent expressions.
“What do you mean by wrong ideas? I was just happy about returning to my bed that’s it. But I just realized that you have a colorful imagination.”, He replied teasing me.
My cheeks were full of red color now. He really has a way with his words.
“I can see your thoughts through your expressions so don’t feel all high and mighty.”, I replied.
“By the way didn’t the idea of me touching you against your wish come in your mind if we sleep together in the same bed?”
“At least in all these hours, I realize one thing about you that you are not that kind of person who will take advantage of a girl against her wish.”
His eyes twinkled with happiness when he heard me. “How can you be so sure?”, He asked.
“Why should I answer you that?”, I teased him now.
“Because I want to know.”
“Um…umm! Your answer is still not convincing.”, I said, showing him my tongue.
“Fine. It’s because my heart missed a beat when I heard your unquestioned faith in me.”, I was surprised to see that he really admitted that. I meant that was so unlike him. “It’s really important for any woman to trust her mate in such a way. I didn’t want to admit but yes, my chest swelled with pride listening to you and I mentally promised myself never to turn down your trust.”
I closed my mouth quickly composing my control.
‘Take a grip on yourself, Eva!
Take a grip!’, I scolded myself while my wolf was jumping like a puppy.
“You don’t easily trust people, do you?”, I asked but he didn’t respond on this but I could see that. “But I have my own reasons for my trust. I met with your mother and aunt. And I can say that you have been raised by a wonderful ladies who must have taught you how to behave. Not to forget, you have a sister too. And besides, I’m capable of saving myself.”, I said, showing him my fists on which he chuckled. And after a second later, I found him smiling.
“And you know you don’t like JERK when you smile.”
“Wow, did you just call me JERK?”
“Yes, because you’re a JERK because sometimes you behave like one.”
“Then you are like…. like an ANGEL.”
“An Angel?”, I asked to reconfirm.
“Yes! Because you’re like an angel in my life.”
I opened and closed my mouth like a fish again, not knowing what to say. I meant I didn’t expect to hear that from his mouth. At least not between this friendly argument. I had heard him calling me angel before as well, but then I thought he only call me by that name because that’s the part of my name. But I clearly didn’t expect him to compare me with Angel.
“I think we should sleep now.”, I muttered and quickly took my blanket and crashed towards my side.
I tried to sleep but couldn’t knowing that Daniel’s eyes were still on me. I felt him reaching near me on which I quickly closed my eyes, trying to act like I was literally sleeping.
He stayed near for a while before speaking, “I’m not sure whether I have those qualities which you wanted in your mate or not. All I know is that I’m quite difficult for others to understand and maybe you will feel the same but then I never give a damn whether they understand me or not. Now, I can’t say the same for you. All I want you to be please be patient with me.”, He left from my side after saying this. I couldn’t say that he was aware of the fact that I was sleeping.
I didn’t open my eyes but from the moment I came to know that I had to marry this man, I knew I had to be patient with him because not just he was a JERK but also a short-tempered person who had a problem with him named trust issue but it would never mean that I would comprise my self-respect or listen to all his orders.

Next Morning!
I woke up early in the morning because unlike yesterday I didn’t want others to think that I was not at all a morning person. To my surprise, even Daniel was not there on the other side of the bed.
Where could he go at this moment? I wondered but then dismissed that thought after all he was not a kid who couldn’t take care of himself.
After taking an early bath, I quickly went downstairs to help others in preparing breakfast if required. And I was surprised to find only Daniel’s Mom in the kitchen.
“Good Morning, Eva!!”
“Good Morning, Mom!!”, I greeted her. “Where are the others?”
“Nora’s still sleeping. Emma will be joining me after some time and Stephen, along with others went for training.”
“Training?”
“Yes, all the male werewolf after attending the age of 16 has to attend the pack training.”
“What about the female?”, I asked in surprise. I meant wasn’t that important for the female werewolves as well?
“Umm…As per the rules they have to look after the family and handle homes.”
“And you’re okay with it?”, I tried not to raise my voice at her.
“My days are long gone.”, She dismissed the topic after diverting my mind by saying. “By the way, you should have rested in your room for a few days.” When I looked at her in confusion, she said it clearly. “I mean, you’re on your periods, right?”
“Oh, that. Not an issue, Mom. I don’t feel any type of weakness or anything these days so I don’t want to sit in the room, doing nothing.”, I responded casually but she look worried after listening to my answer.
“Is everything alright, Mom?”
“Umm.. yeah!”
“Okay, Mom, if you say so.”, I said, not pressuring her. “Since Daniel is not here, I am informing you that I have to visit my apartment in the city to get some of my belonging from there. As you know that this marriage happened in such a hurry that I couldn’t get a chance to bring my stuff from there. So, I was thinking to leave for the city at this moment itself.”
“Daniel will be back from his training after 3 hours. You can go there with him.”, She suggested.
“I don’t want to disturb him in his daily schedule. Can you please inform the same to him from my side?”
“But Eva, Daniel will not like this.”
“What will he not like?”
“You, leaving alone in these days. You, leaving without him by his side and you without taking permission from him.”
I pressed my lips from saying anything against his son. I just nodded and left from there. I went directly into my room and grab my purse and then walked out of the packhouse.
‘I can’t handle so many restrictions.’, Ivory huffed and I agreed with her.
‘And it seems like we have to break a lot of stereotype thought of our mate.’, I added. I meant even in this era, he was thinking that females are born to handle homes and family? And they needed someone for their help when they are out? Not to forget, one had to rest in their room during their periods.
I knew by breaking his so-called rules I had invited a storm in my life but then I was not going to follow those rules at all.
