Because they were tired from their excursion, their trip to the lake was delayed. They left the house in the afternoon, but Sabrina wondered why they didn’t go to the tourist attraction in Clayland right away. Sabrina squinted her eyes when she understood what Kenneth was implying.
“Okay. You had enough of me, Kenneth. Aren’t you satisfied yet? Let’s go and enjoy kayaking,” Sabrina said and she walked out of the room ahead of him.
Meanwhile, Kenneth followed with a sour expression because he didn’t get what he wanted. He had wanted to stay in the room with Sabrina and take a short nap. He was feeling sleepy.
“You’re making a face. Is something wrong?” Sabrina asked the man when she suddenly turned around and saw him frowning.
Kenneth was surprised by what the woman did because he didn’t expect her to turn around. He was caught pouting like a child. “Nothing,” he replied.
Sabrina stopped walking and waited for the man to catch up to her. “Is there really nothing, or do you just want us to stay in the room?” Sabrina asked the man, and when he smiled, she quickly confirmed her suspicion.
“I just want to be alone with you,” Kenneth explained. In truth, there were many things he wanted to do with Sabrina.
“We’re the only ones here, so you still have me alone,” Sabrina said.
“Sabrina, I just want to replace your bad memories in this place,” Kenneth explained.
Sabrina furrowed her brow because what Kenneth was saying seemed impossible. “Is that possible? Besides, if I were given the chance to go back to the past and change everything, I still wouldn’t do it.”
“Why?” Kenneth was puzzled why the woman didn’t want it, especially since he had caused her so much pain before.
“Because Scarlet was born because of what happened back then,” she replied. “In fact, I already miss her and I want to go home,” she admitted.
Kenneth scratched his head because he didn’t expect Sabrina’s answer. “I’m sorry,” he apologized for his selfishness. Because of his greed, he convinced Sabrina to leave Scarlet for a while.
“It’s okay, I am enjoying this trip with you,” she told him.
“By the way, Sabrina, when are we getting married?”
“When you propose,” Sabrina answered.
“But I already did!”
“It didn’t look like one. So, do better next time, okay?”
After their conversation, they both agreed to go to the lake. They were having fun, so much fun that they forgot about the time. They played in the lake like kids! Sabrina laughed as she and Kenneth chased each other, but suddenly the sky darkened and the wind grew stronger.
“Looks like a storm is coming,” Sabrina shouted.
“Let’s go back to the resort!” Kenneth shouted back.
They hurriedly paddled back to the resort before the bad weather reached them in the middle of the lake. Just as they arrived, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning poured down. Holding hands, they ran back to the common area where they had lunch earlier.
“This came out of nowhere,” Sabrina complained as she wiped her wet face.
“Let’s just enjoy the rain,” Kenneth suggested, as he would prefer to spend time with Sabrina in their room.
“Seriously?” Sabrina asked, and when Kenneth nodded, she walked ahead toward their room.
It was a distance from the common area, and she was sure they would still get wet even if they ran, so she decided to simply enjoy the pouring rain.
“Sabrina, wait,” Kenneth called out to her, and she stopped walking as he caught up with her.
While waiting for him, she entertained herself by picking up leaves from the San Francisco plants that were abundant in the resort.
“Why?” she asked when Kenneth approached her.
“You would look so sexy without a bra,” Kenneth said, but he received a pinch on his side from Sabrina. He stepped back, surprised, as Sabrina relentlessly pinched his skin.
“You’re so rude!” Sabrina angrily said although she wasn’t really angry at him. She was just caught off guard by his words. Since they arrived at the resort, he had been acting as if nothing had happened between them. She was so eager!
“I’m just telling the truth,” Kenneth explained because one of his fantasies was to see her drenched in the rain without a bra.
“I thought you preferred a big butt,” Sabrina replied.
“With other women, yes, but with you, I want everything. Ouch! Why again?” Kenneth exclaimed when Sabrina pinched him once more. Did he say something inappropriate again?
“Let’s clarify things, Kenneth McBride! Do you still plan to replace me? If you do, do it now while I can still flaunt myself!” She talked to Kenneth because it wouldn’t be fair if he didn’t inform her.
“I’m not replacing you,” Kenneth joked, and Sabrina got annoyed again. If he hadn’t dodged, she might have scratched his eye. “You’re so hot-tempered,” he complained.
“It’s because of you! I told you that you’re mine, so you should only be mine!” Sabrina insisted before leaning in and kissing Kenneth on the lips. “You’re mine,” she said to him after releasing his lips.
“Oh, I didn’t know you were possessive, Sabrina,” Kenneth said, shaking his head.
“Just let me know if you don’t want me because I can let you go… after I break all the bones in your body,” she warned Kenneth, but she was just joking. “Are you scared?” she asked him when she noticed that he had paled, or maybe he was just shivering in the rain.
“Who wouldn’t be scared by what you said? You are Lucas King’s only granddaughter!”
“Don’t worry, I will not let his minions hurt you!”
Kenneth’s liver quivered when he heard Sabrina say that she was ready to defend him from Brandon Hart. “Thank you,” he said.
“Of course! But don’t repeat what you did before because I really won’t tolerate it,” she warned him once again.
They had so much fun in Clayland, however, their vacation was cut short because they received a call saying that Scarlet had a fever. Nonetheless, the two of them still achieved what they wanted. As she leaned on the man’s chest, she couldn’t help but smile.
“Is there something funny? You’ve been like that since earlier,” Kenneth said because he had noticed Sabrina giggling while leaning on his chest earlier.
“Nothing,” Sabrina replied, but she couldn’t really control herself from smiling.
“What is it?” Kenneth prodded the woman because he didn’t believe that her giggles had no reason.
“I just remembered what happened last night,” Sabrina answered.
Kenneth furrowed his brow because a lot of things had happened last night. The older folks had a drinking session, and Sabrina almost vomited because she wasn’t used to it. After they finished drinking, they even sang and danced.
“Which one?” Kenneth asked the woman.
“You fell asleep while we were doing it,” Sabrina whispered, “but then you can make it up next time,” she suggested.
When he first heard what the woman said, he was tongue-tied because he didn’t know what to say. He wanted to ask Sabrina if she was telling the truth because it was hard to believe what she said. In truth, such a blunder had never happened in his entire life.
“It’s okay,” Sabrina added when the man didn’t respond.
“You’re jesting!” Kenneth insisted when he finally regained his senses after being so surprised that he could do such a thing.
Sabrina raised her eyebrow and gave the man a fierce look. “What do you want to imply? That I made everything up?” She was offended by Kenneth’s words.
“Is what you said really true?” Kenneth asked the woman again.
“Forget it,” she answered irritably to the man and didn’t pay attention to him anymore.
“Sabrina, I’m sorry,” Kenneth tried to talk to the sulking woman.
“You know, if I didn’t need you right now, you wouldn’t be able to go to Claybourne!” Sabrina declared.
“I already apologized because I really don’t remember the whole incident,” Kenneth replied.
“You apologized, but it didn’t seem sincere earlier,” Sabrina complained.
“It was heartfelt,” Kenneth insisted as he opened the car door for the woman to get in.
“Fine,” she said when she accepted Kenneth’s apology.
“Just try to sleep for now,” he suggested to the woman so that she wouldn’t get too stressed.
“How can I sleep when my child is sick?” She raised her voice when she asked the man. She was annoyed with him because he seemed indifferent to the fact that Scarlet was sick and they weren’t by the child’s side.
“It’s just a simple fever, Sabrina,” Kenneth replied.
“Just a simple fever? My God, Kenneth! Can you hear yourself? What if it’s dengue or something worse?” She asked him.
“You’re just being paranoid, okay? Do you really think your mother would neglect Scarlet? Meghan is there too,” Kenneth explained.
“Even so! You don’t understand because you’re new to Scarlet’s life,” she accused Kenneth of not caring about their child’s condition.
“And what do you want to imply? That it’s okay with me if the child gets sick? She’s my daughter, maybe you forgot,” Kenneth replied, recalling that Sabrina was becoming unfair. What she said was true when he was new to their lives, but nevertheless, he loved Scarlet deeply. If he could turn back time, he would willingly go back to when she was still in the womb.
“I don’t want to argue,” Sabrina said before leaning back in her seat and closing her eyes. Although she wanted to sleep, she couldn’t. Her mind was focused on Claybourne, where their child was. She really didn’t learn her lesson when she agreed not to bring the child.
Kenneth almost hit the steering wheel because of what the woman said. First of all, he didn’t pick a fight with Sabrina. Sabrina was the one who got angry at him because they were stuck in traffic, and it wasn’t his fault that there was an accident on the road.
When they arrived home, Sabrina quickly got out of the car and left Kenneth behind. “Scarlet?” he immediately asked Thalia as soon as he encountered her.
“She’s still sleeping,” Thalia replied.
After thanking Thalia, he quickly went upstairs to check on his sleeping child. His breath caught as he reached the second floor and rushed towards their room with Scarlet.
The door was open, so he entered directly and his eyes widened when he saw Brandon and Margaret playing with Scarlet.
“Mom, I thought she had a fever,” Sabrina said as she immediately approached the child. “Baby…” she called out to Scarlet, and when her little angel smiled, all her worries disappeared.
“The medicine kicked in quickly, so she’s fine now,” Margaret replied. “Where’s Kenneth?”
“I left him outside, but he’s on his way here,” Sabrina said.
“Sabrina, are you sure about Kenneth McBride?” Brandon asked.
