Sabrina didn’t bother changing her clothes and simply collapsed onto the bed. Before she knew it, sleep had claimed her, causing her to completely forget about the movie date she was supposed to do with her husband. Earlier, she expected that Isabelle would leave after lunch but the woman stayed until later in the afternoon. So, after lunch, she just had a few minute’s break before cleaning, then she had to prepare some tea.
She had no idea why her body felt so tired, but when she woke up, her eyes widened upon checking the time. She had overslept! Panic surged through her as she realized it was already past nine in the morning of the following day, and she was worried that Kenneth wasn’t able to eat his breakfast because of her tardiness. So, she hastily tied her hair into a messy bun before rushing downstairs and going straight to the kitchen. As she entered, she found her husband with Isabelle, and she wondered why Isabelle paid a visit again!
“Sorry, I overslept,” she said with a shy smile directed at Kenneth. “Hello, Isabelle. What are you doing here at this time?”
“Hi, Sabrina. I came here with Lorraine, but you were still sleeping when she came. Hungry? I cooked some breakfast,” Isabelle said.
“You cooked breakfast? In here?” Sabrina asked in disbelief because even though they were related by married, the woman had no right to touch the kitchen, or worse, to cook for her husband.
“Yes, I had no choice. When I came, Kenneth was struggling in the kitchen so I helped him,” Isabelle explained.
“You didn’t have to,” Sabrina said to Isabelle.
“Well, if I’m only cooking for the three of us, then it won’t be a problem,” she replied.
Furrowing her brow, Sabrina sensed that they were hiding something. She glanced at Kenneth and he was so uncomfortable. “Do you have something to tell me?” she pressed, determined to get the truth.
“None at all,” he replied, and then he got a plate and filled it with breakfast. “Sit down, Sabrina. Hmmm, milk or coffee?”
“I can manage, Kenneth. What about you, Isabelle?”
“It’s okay, don’t mind us. Kenneth and I have already eaten our breakfast,” Isabelle replied.
“I see,” Sabrina said, but then something in her gut told her that Kenneth and Isabelle were hiding something from her. “Ken, since Isabelle is already here, why don’t you ask your brother to have lunch with us?”
Kenneth and Isabelle exchanged glances before simultaneously stating the meal they had been craving. Then, they both laughed as if they said something funny. As she took a bite, Sabrina wondered when they became so close to one another.
“Then, we will have some steak for lunch,” Sabrina said.
“Alright. Hmmm Isabelle, would you like to check the aquarium? I bought some rare species last week,” Kenneth offered.
“I’m not really into fish, Kenneth. Why don’t we go swimming? The pool is empty and I think I need to work on my muscles again,” Isabelle said.
“Oh, swimming is good, too. Do you want to come with us, Sabrina?” Kenneth asked.
“I don’t know how to swim,” Sabrina replied.
“Oh, what a shame! You should learn to swim, Sabrina. It’s fun,” Isabelle stated. “Are you sure you won’t mind? Really?”
“Yes.”
“Alright. Ken, let’s go!”
“Go ahead, Isabelle. I have to talk to Sabrina first,” he said.
“Alright. See you later.”
When Isabelle was gone, Sabrina expected that Kenneth would be honest to her but he chose not to come clean at everything. He just reminded her to prepare the steak for lunch because Isabelle or his mother would be joining them.
Sabrina groaned as he left, then she continued eating.
“Okay,” she said to herself while trying to motivate herself to do good in cooking.
Well, she was good at preparing meals because she was trained to become the best wife a man could have. Kenneth was supposed to experience it first but he dared to humiliate her and treated her badly. So, in retaliation, she had to offer the bare minimum.
After filling her stomach, Sabrina went to the pantry for the necessary ingredients. Then, she retrieved several rib-eye steaks from the freezer and began to thaw them. Kenneth didn’t have to tell that he liked his steak in medium rare.
She was busy in the kitchen when Kenneth returned. Sabrina expected that Isabelle was with him but he was alone. So, automatically, she arched her brows as soon as he approached her.
“Why are you here? You are supposed to be in the pool with Isabelle,” she told him.
“Daniel came,” he replied.
“Tell me, Kenneth. Did you sleep with Isabelle?” she blurted out the question and his cheeks flushed with anger.
“Do you know that you are being ridiculous right now?” he asked defensively.
“She slept here, didn’t she?”
“W-what? Are you crazy? Why would you insinuate that I slept with her?”
“Am I just insinuating, Ken?”
“You are crazy!”
“You must have thought that I am stupid or naïve but the wrinkles on her clothes told me that she had it on since last night. It wasn’t her style to visit someone in that state,” Sabrina continued.
“Are you saying that Isabelle cheated on Daniel with me?”
“Yes,” Sabrina answered fiercely.
Kenneth’s jaw clenched at her response, realizing she had crossed a line. “Isabella is a good woman, Sabrina. How can you think of her as a two-timing wench?”
“Because she is one,” Sabrina stood her ground.
“After eating the food she cooked for us, you can’t accuse her of sleeping with me!”
Sabrina smiled mockingly and said, “I didn’t accuse her or you. You really did it, Kenneth, while your wife was soundly sleeping in the next room. Do you know what’s worse? You are cheating with sister-in-law,” she said.
“Oh God, I can’t believe we are having this conversation right now!” he said angrily before leaving. “You can come to my room and check if I brought a woman there,” he said.
Sabrina frowned, interpreting his invitation as an inappropriate advance. “Why should I do that? You can just admit the truth to me then this discussion is over!”
