“Katie…” Orva called out as she stumbled into Katie’s room.
“Yes Mom.”
“Felicia called.”
“Tell her, I’m sleeping.” Katie said.
“Do I look like your gofer? Will you stand up and take the call?”
Katie rolled over the bed without the thought of standing up.
“If I had a cellphone, this couldn’t have….” She didn’t finish before Orva interrupted.
“Don’t start with that.”
“But Carmen and Robert had cellphones but…”
“They never got phone until they were old enough. How do you think they will feel when they come to realize that you had a phone when it isn’t time. Huh?”
“For Robert… I don’t kow. Carefree maybe. But I’m sell certain that Carmen will be so happy for me.”
“Their opinion doesn’t really matter.” Orva stated. “Do you want to talk to Felicia or not?”
Katie let out a deep audible breathe, “No… I will talk to her latter.”
When Orva was done conveying the message to Felicia, she stumbled back to her daughter’s room. “You don’t wanna tell me what happened. Do you?”
“No. I don’t want to” Katie answered with staring at her mom.
Orva sat close to her and said “Hey come here. Sit-down.”
Katie sighed, “It’s not an issue. It’s no big deal mom.”
“Then we will be quick with it.” Orva pressed on.
Katie flumped down from her bed to the chair beside. So, she was sitting oppositely to her mom. She didn’t hiked her head up. She was staring gelidly at her legs.
“You got into a fight with Felicia?” Orva asked.
“No Mom… I didn’t.”
“Then what’s the matter. What happened?”
“Nothing actually.”
Orva knew she was going to talk. It was all written all over her face that something was wrong but she couldn’t discern what exactly was in her mind. But she believed that Katie was going to talk. She always do. So she pressed on.
“So… Tell me what happened. I remember you coming back from Felicia’s place with a gloomy face.”
“It was Felicia.” She finally raised her head.
“What happened to Felicia.” Orva pressed on.
“All she kept blabbing about was Robert. Maybe that was why she called. Talking about Robert like they had a thing. Bringing her up on almost every discussion just because he rub lotion on her back. Just so stupid.”
“We both know that Robert doesn’t take much liking to younger girls.”
“Even though. I just don’t get comfortable talking about how cute and how he gave her a great massage of her life. What was all that for. Was that why I came?”
“I understand how you feel and someday you will love someone’s brother. So don’t be too harsh on Felicia.”
“If only I have friends who has cute brothers.”
“Of course you will.” Orva said with a concerning tone.
“That’s not what I should worry about. It’s Dad. Who knows if he will allow me to spend the night with my friends who had cute brothers.”
Parents are supposed to have a great harmony within themselves so as the children can enumerate that examples. That was what Kebbi do tell her. With all of that being considered, she loved to abide by Kebbi’s rules. Even those ones that ain’t accepted, she will have to. She doesn’t want to risk the children’s happiness.
“Sweetie, you can spend the night at any of your friend’s house okay?” What? She just went against Kebbi’s protocols. Well, the facial expressions on her daughter’s face made it worth the risk. Rebellion was perilous but empowering in her case.
“Thanks Mom.”
“You know Robert isn’t interested in girls of her age. So don’t be too harsh on her and by telling her that Robert isn’t interested in girls of her age will crush her.”
“I’m her age Mom. And we ain’t kids anymore.” Katie sound like she was being pained.
“No… You girls ain’t kids anymore. But when Boys gets to age like that of your brother. They have a kind of picture they braced and they also consider how things might look with their friends. See, when you get to Carmen’s age. You won’t be interested in freshman.”
“That’s so absurd. Love shouldn’t be based on age difference. That’s what I know about love.”
Orva couldn’t help but keep smiling thinking her daughter had a crush on Robert. One doesn’t need to be told. And she was able to understand that because she once had the same crush on her brother;Larry.
“You might be right. But there are way these things work.”
“Let it go. Call Felicia in the morning. Goodnight sweetie.”
Robert had quite recently finished his call with Derek, and he was distraught. Obviously it was lost indignation, however he wasn’t willing to concede he was pissed at himself.
No one had been home, aside from her. Imagine a scenario where Orva truly had been sitting tight for him. Then, what happened at the entrance of the bathroom could have ended in a unique way. Rather than her snickering and saying she made her point, she would have taken him up to his room and roll in the hay with him.
That is crazy, she’s a lady, an adult, and your mom. So is Miss Rose, and despite the fact that she isn’t my mom, she is Felicia’s mom, and she’s more seasoned than Orva.
He was nearer to Orva’s age than his dad was. He realized he would treat her better, love her more, hold her and never let go. That implied, in the event that his dad hadn’t hitched her, he would have a preferred shot with her over his dad would.
Obviously he realized he was attempting to legitimize his emotions, yet he contemplated the day he helped her peel potatoes. His mom had been in the kitchen, possibly hanging tight for him, without a bra. They shared a close second while his arms scoured her bosoms and his rooster contacted her back.
Had she anticipated that he should follow her to her room? He shivered and shook the idea off.
Robert wished Carmen was home. He wouldn’t let her know what happened at the entrance of the bathroom, that could be one of his secrets with Orva if happened, but he needed to talk to Carmen. He had to clear the strain between them. Also, having her there would make him stop imagining what she might be doing with Erica.
They likely weren’t actually lovers doing the things he imagined, but he was jealous. And that was something he had never disclose to himself talk alone to anyone.
He stripped, got under the covers and pulled his extended pad on top of him. He embraced it, imagining it was one of the ladies he had loved.
