CHAPTER 13

Book:Prisoner To My Mate Published:2024-6-3

“I heard it was amazing, but I didn’t know it was this amazing,” The Vampire says, removing his fangs from my neck. His mouth is covered with blood and not just anyone’s blood mine. I am so weak I am surprised I am still alive. He puts his fangs back into my neck and continues to drain the life out of me. I don’t have any strength in me to push him away. The more he drinks my blood, the weaker I become
“oh, my! I can feel myself getting stronger the more I drink your blood,” He says, retaking a break from my neck. I try to push him away, but my hands drop down before they can even reach his body. “I won’t move around if I were you. It will only make you weaker, and I wonder what a werewolf like you is doing here?” I want to speak, but the words barely come out of my mouth. “You don’t have to answer that because it won’t matter when you are dead,” He says and is about to continue sucking the life out of me when he is ripped away from my neck.
Before I is my mate in wolf form, I don’t get to admire his beautiful wolf before he runs towards where he threw the vampire. The vampire does not even try to fight Theo and runs away. I am so happy I am not going to die tonight, but I am not so sure because I start to feel my soul slipping away from my body. I try to keep my eyes open, but it’s hard with the pain in my neck and the lack of blood. I try my best to fight it but fail and allow the darkness to take me away.
I wake up with a terrible pain in my neck; I need to stop fainting a lot. Wait, I woke up; I am not dead, I am not dead. I really thought I died.
“How are you feeling?” Theo asks on the chair beside my hospital bed. I was too busy enjoying the fact that I woke up. I did not bother to look around my surrounding. My mate has my hand in his in a tight grip. He is staring at me with a lot of concern in his eyes. Why is he holding my hand, and why does he look like he hasn’t slept in days. If I didn’t know better, I would say he was worried all night about me.
“How long was I asleep?” I ask, trying to sit up but failing because I am still weak. My mate helps me adjust the pillows behind my back and helps me sit up.
“You should try as much as possible to not move around. Your body needs time to heal, and you were out for a week”
I don’t understand this sudden concern he has for me. It’s not the first time I am meeting a near-death situation, so I wonder what is causing this behavior in him.
“A week, wow, I really thought I was out for a day tops, but any luck finding my mom?”
“No,” He growls
Why does he sound angry about me asking about my mom? Does he hate my mom or something? That would be weird because I don’t think he and mom have ever met.
“Do you hate my mom?” I let my curiosity get the better of me and ask
“No, I don’t,” He says, still sounding angry
“Then why do you sound angry any time I mention her?”
“Because she is the reason you almost lost your life,” He shouts in anger and stands up to face me.
“What are you talking about?” I ask, confused. I don’t believe his words because mom would never do something to harm me. She might not be my birth mom, but I know she loves me as a birth mom would.
“Everything, you ran away to look for her, and then you almost got yourself killed by a vampire. It’s all her fault,” He roars in anger.
“How is it her fault?” I say a little higher than average. I can’t believe he is blaming mom for the misfortune that happened to me. “You were the one who refused to allow me to leave, so I had to run away. The vampire attack is nobody’s fault but mine. I should have ran the minute I saw the vampire, but I was too shocked at the moment to move my legs. My mom has nothing to do with this, and if anything, I am the bad daughter who has not found her yet.” I say, feeling tears form in my eyes, thinking about how mom is still missing.
“I told you to stay because I knew something like this would happen. You refused to listen to me and see what happened. What if I did not find you in time, and the vampire drained all the blood out of you? Will you still be able to find your mother?”
“No, I won’t, but why do you even care? It’s not like we are real mates or anything. You don’t have to pretend to care” I never understand why he is so overprotective of me when he says he does not see me as his mate. It makes me have hope that there is a future for us, but then he will do or say something that will crush it.
“As I told you before, I don’t need to show you that I care. Just listen to me when I tell you something. I can’t be saving you all the time,” He says, close to my face.
“Ok,” Even though he says he does not have to show it. I don’t believe he cares because he has never shown it.
Later in the day, Chloe, Liam, Beta Dan, and Charlotte came to see me. They were all worried about me and were happy to see me awake. Chloe told me that Theo got me treated at the crescent moon pack, but once the wound in my neck was likely not to get infected, he moved me back to his territory. Chloe also told me that he was super worried about me and stayed with me every day, praying that I woke up. She also said that I was super lucky to have survived the vampire attack. Many werewolves don’t survive after the amount of blood I lost.
It’s been a few days since I woke up, I am getting ready to leave, and I am waiting for Charlotte to arrive. I don’t really know my way around the territory, so I need her to help me find my way home. The door cracks open, and the person that steps in is not Charlotte, and I wonder why he is here.
“Are you ready to go?” Theo asks. I don’t think he was ever taught how to greet. His opening line is always a question.
“Yes, I am,” I say and get up from the bed to follow him.
We walk outside the hospital with either of us saying anything the whole walk back to his house. I wonder why he came instead of Charlotte, so I ask.
“Why are you here instead of Charlotte ?”
“Do you have a problem with me taking you home?”
“No, I don’t.”
“Then why are you looking for Charlotte ?”
“I was told she was the one coming and was just wondering why she didn’t come.”
“Charlotte has better things to do than walk my mate home,” He says, which causes my eyes to widen. I can’t believe he called me his mate. He has never called me his mate in such a casual way.
“Your mate, you just called me your mate,” I ask, wondering if my ears are working well.
“Yes, I did. Do you have a problem with that also?”
Why does he keep asking me if I have a problem with everything?
“No, I don’t. I was just surprised you called me your mate.”
“You are my mate.”
“Yeah, I am” I don’t know what more to say.
The next day while having breakfast in the kitchen, Theodore walks in.
“Once you are done eating, get ready; you are coming with me to the office.”
“Why”
“I leave in 30 minutes, don’t be late” He ignores my question and walks out of the kitchen.
Why does he want me to follow him to the office? Is he trying to make sure I never run away?
Once I am done eating, I quickly wash the dishes and walk upstairs to get ready. It’s a good thing I showered before eating breakfast. I walk over to my closet to find something to wear to his office. The only clothes in here are jeans and t-shirts. I don’t think that’s the right outfit to wear to the office. I think about going down to tell him I don’t have what to wear or just wearing what I have already. I think I would just wear the most presentable outfit because I don’t want to face his temper.
I walk back downstairs once I am done dressing. I find him on his phone, and seeing him with his phone makes me miss having a phone. I wish he would let me have a phone. I am sure I would have enough things to occupy my mind if I had a phone.
“I am ready,” I say to get his attention. He takes his eyes away from his phone and looks at me. He looks at me from head to toe.
“You need to go shopping if I want you to follow me to the office every day,” He says, walking out of the house.
“Every day?” I ask, following him.
“Yes, you will be coming with me to the office every day from now on.”
“Why,” I ask, even though I have an idea of why
“You will also move into my bedroom.”
“What,” I asked wide-eyed, but he does not say anything and continued working. I knew running away would put me in big trouble with Theo, but I never guessed it would be him wanting to be with me 24/7. This is not good.
I spend the whole day in Theodore’s office while he attends meetings with the council. I think today was the most boring day of my life. I had nothing to do in his office other than sit down and look at the wall. He didn’t even have books I could read and no computer to browse the internet. I was bored as hell the whole day. I wanted to ask him to find out how the search for my mom is going on, but I haven’t seen him again since we arrived at the office. I am praying my old Alpha did not stop searching for her.
I start feeling sleepy while waiting for him, so I decide to get comfortable on the couch in his office. I might as well get some sleep because if he was serious about me moving into his room. I doubt I would get any sleep tonight.
THEODORE
Theodore walked back to his office after spending hours listening to Alphas complain about how the other Alpha had bigger land than the other. He was exhausted and couldn’t wait to go home and sleep. While turning his office doorknob, he smelt his mate in his office, and he was confused why she was here. He walked inside and found her sound asleep on the couch in his office. He forgot for a minute he asked her to follow him to the office today. Theodore gently lifted his mate into his arms and walked out of his office to go home.
Theodore was trying to place his mate on the bed so she could sleep alone on her bed, but it seems his mate liked the idea of moving into his bed more. He knows he said that she would move into his room tonight, but he later realized it was best she didn’t. It was bad enough he smelt her scent every day and couldn’t touch her. He tries to place her on the bed again, but Anastasia refuses to let go of him.
Theodore gave up hope and got comfortable on the bed so he and his mate could sleep, but he knew he would not get any sleep. His mate was sleeping beside him, and his wolf would disturb him all night to mark her. He already swore to never do that, so he prepared his mind to be up all night.
The following day while Theo was taking a shower, he smelt arouse in the house, and he was confused. His brother had already moved out, so he wondered where it was coming from. He quickly finished showering and barged into his mate’s room to find out if she was cheating on him. What Theo saw before him left him perplexed. His mate was on the floor crying and scratching her skin. The minute her eyes locked with his, he knew why. His mate was in heat, and he was the only one who could make it go away.
