Happily Ever After or Not

Book:My Sister's Boyfriend is My Mate! Published:2024-6-3

Ivy was bored.
Good things didn’t happen whenever she was bored.
It had been a month since the Silverwolf pack had been punished by the council. There had been no more attacks by rogues or hunters on any pack.
Everything was slowly returning to normal. As normal as everything could be with Ava being the Luna of their pack.
Her father came home every day cursing the woman’s name so much that Ivy could almost recite the minutes of all his meetings verbatim. Ava was doing this, Ava was doing that.
Ava was influencing Adrian, Ava was trying to reduce the authority of the Elder council.
Ivy could have cared less. She just wanted the position of Alpha but Adrian’s eyes never left Ava for even half a second. Before she could have a chance at her dream, she would need to get rid of Ava, preferably without losing her head.
But that was an impossible plan. She couldn’t kill her, it would be too messy and the chances she would be caught were astronomically high.
She could see her dream dying a slow but final death.
To make matters even worse, she overheard her father’s conversation with someone over the phone discussing a possible mating partner for her. A Gamma. A fucking Gamma. Was that how low he saw her value now that he couldn’t marry her off to Adrian? The Gamma would be coming in a month for her.
She had exactly one month to find a way out of the constricting web of distress around her.
Excusing herself from the pre-mating celebrations for Calvin and that freak from the Silverwolf pack, Rhea, she escaped to the balcony nursing a drink.
That was why she was able to see it happen. She heard the rapid footsteps of someone leaving the pack house. Looking over the railing, Ivy identified Calvin’s mate. The girl was weird. She obviously didn’t fit in with them since she was from a different pack but she still rubbed Ivy the wrong way.
Every time she saw her it was like seeing an image superimposed over another. Like she was seeing two personalities nothing alike. Rhea looked around but forgot to look up then she was off. Running away from her own party.
Ivy would have gone after her if she hadn’t been so tired. So what if she wanted to escape that dreary affair, why would Ivy stop her from doing that?
Seconds later, she was back with a parcel with a very interesting insignia on it. Ivy watched with barely concealed interest as the girl looked about before entering the pack house from the deserted side entrance.
Ivy picked up her phone to call her trusted aide.
“I want you to dig up everything that you can of Rhea, last name unknown of the Silverwolf pack. I’ll send you a picture.”
*********
“Let’s send Calvin instead.”
“He and Rhea are still getting to know each other, I can’t separate them now, besides I
promised in front of the Elders. I can’t go back on my word, Adrian.”
“Who said anything about separating them? They can go and see the in-laws together.” Adrian was obstinate.
“Adrian,” Ava hid a smile. “You are getting way too clingy.”
He gave an unrepentant grin.
“You are my mate. I have a free pass to be clingy. Besides, you have just one place.” He kissed her lips, his hand moving down…
When he let her pull away, she asked him breathlessly.
“And where would that be?”
“In my bed.”
And just like that it didn’t matter that they had been in bed for hours, she was hungry for him again.
“I think you meant ‘our’ bed. Besides, I’m a woman of many talents. Far too many to be confined to the bedroom.”
Adrian smiled at her and her core tightened reflexively. That smile almost always preceded something that made her forget her name much less whatever they’d been arguing about.
“Perhaps I can convince you.”
Goddess, she had never wanted to be convinced so much, perhaps they could even spend the entire day convincing each other.
Adrian pushed her gently to her back, his body hovering over hers, his hands holding hers down as he claimed her lips thoroughly.
She wanted to pull him closer, mark his skin but all she could do was writhe restlessly beneath him as he kissed her while keeping her hands trapped. All she could do was surrender.
His lips left hers and drifted to her nape where he dropped raspberry kisses on her mate mark and blew air over the bite marks he made over it.
She gasped, her entire body thrumming with need, her hips rocking on the bed seeking, needing, wanting. His hold on her hands remained secure.
His head dipped lower, capturing a nipple and then the other. Ava couldn’t escape the waves of passion pulling her under and demanding that she yield to Adrian.
When she thought it couldn’t get better or worse depending on your vantage, he went down on her finally releasing her hands as he very leisurely ate her out.
Her legs parted even wider involuntarily as she held onto his hair bringing him even closer.
His tongue teased, darted and played with her clit hood, and her walls tightened around his fingers, a series of sharp gasps escaping her as she moved with time with his thrusts.
She felt her body wind up second after second of his exquisite torture, she felt like she was balancing on the sharp edge of bliss and need as screams and moans of pleasure took over her.
Then she came, her body drenched with sweat, her mind peacefully blank and her limbs like limp noodles that she felt a disconnect with. She was high, basking in the afterglow of Adrian’s touch.
Slowly she came to herself and when she could feel her body again, she looked at Adrian next to her looking more than a little smug at all the moans and screams of pleasure he had wrung from her.
She wanted to tell him about her decision. Her decision to stop her birth control medication. But she held back. That could come after the trip. Everything was stable now. Their pack was safe. She wanted them to start trying for a child.
She was scared about whether or not she would be a good mother but at the same time, she was looking forward to it. She knew it would be a great learning curve but if she had Adrian at her side then she knew she could do anything.
She would go to the Silverwolf pack and return in a few days max then they could talk.
She smiled back at him and then climbed astride him.
“My turn.”
This was her happily ever after. Nothing would ruin it.
It was half an hour to departure and Ava was saying her goodbyes. She was going to the Silverwolf pack because Felicity was having some problems taking over the running of the pack.
The complaint had come while she had been in the Elder council meeting and somehow gotten manoeuvres into taking the assignment since it was ‘beneath the Alpha but somehow above his Gamma and Beta.’
She knew Elder Elvis just wanted to get her out of his hair. Not that she minded, she would do well outside of his circle. The only thing she felt sorry about was leaving her mate, brother and sister-in-law. Her parents had left two weeks back to go on their travelling. There was still nothing about Gabby. Nothing.
It was like she had just upped and vanished into thin air.
Ava refused to talk to Elder Elvis about it again after their last disastrous conversation.
“Call me.”
“Yes. Every day.”
“You can come to visit me as well.”
Ava arched her brow.
“Adrian, that doesn’t even make sense. I’m staying there for three to five days max. I’ll be back before you know it.”
Adrian dropped a kiss on her forehead.
“I can’t think straight when it comes to you, you know. I still don’t know why we can’t just send someone else but fine. I’ll respect your decision. Reluctantly. I’m doing this under duress.”
“Sure.” Ava kissed him. “Don’t miss me too much.”
“Too late. I already do.”
