All that mattered was the feel of Adrian’s skin across her fingertips and the taste of him on her lips. His hands wandered and conquered the expanse of her body eliciting moans from the most mundane of touches.
He reached for the small bow she had used to lace up her night dress and undid it. She reached for his nightshirt and their lips parted for seconds so they could undress each other.
When next they touched it was bare skin against bare skin sending shivers all over Ava from the contact. She wanted. No, she needed more of Adrian.
His lips left hers and she gasped in air almost greedily only for Adrian to take it away by dropping scintillating kisses on her neck and nibbling on her mark as though to get back at her for her teasing earlier on.
She inhaled sharply and held on to him even together knowing she was marking his back but she couldn’t care less as she rocked against him seeking relief. She felt his sharp intake of breath and knew she wasn’t the only one who was in the throes of need. The only difference was that Adrian obviously had a better rein over his desire.
His lips dropped to breasts and Ava’s vision went white as pleasure surged through her veins.
“Adrian. Please. I can’t…”
She couldn’t wait anymore. Her need for him was like a fever in her veins.
He heard the desperation in her voice and moved to flip them so she was sprawled rather inelegantly on the bed and he hovered above her.
Then he was in her. The pleasure from the contact was so complete that she might have come from that alone then he began to move inside her. Her legs wrapped around his tapered and defined waist as he took her, their combined moans, gasps and grunts filled the room.
She panted as though running a marathon and nearing completion. She was approaching an orgasm and she could feel that Adrian was nearing his as well.
They were nothing but motions of desire clashing, parting and coming back together in that moment.
Then she was there, her world narrowing down to Adrian as the orgasm rocked her to her core shattering her into a million pieces. She clenched around him so tightly that Adrian bucked a couple of times, his movement erratic before coming inside of her.
He collapsed for some seconds above her keeping his weight braced above her with his hands as they fought to catch their breath afterwards.
Then he moved to the side pulling her on top of him so they could cuddle skin against skin.
The moment she could speak without saying something stupid like how much she enjoyed sex with him, she spoke.
“I love you, Adrian.”
“I know.”
Ava raised her head up to glare at him though that turned out to be more difficult to do seeing as he had just given her the orgasm of a lifetime.
Adrian laughed.
“Fine. I love you too, Anna.”
This man. He just had to use the nickname she had so detested in the past. Before everything.
“I’ll take it either way.”
There was a pause then Ava spoke again something just occurring to her. She had never gotten around to telling Adrian and wondered if he would react poorly to it.
“Adrian. I am on birth control.”
The last thing anyone should talk about right after sex was pregnancy. Even if you and your partner were mated till death parted you. Not only was it a mood dampener but there were so many ways to take it. To read into it. It just wasn’t said. Yet that was what had just fallen out of Ava’s lips.
She felt Adrian tense beneath her and for a second she worried.
Did she want to have Adrian’s child?
Hell yeah. Just thinking of a child that would share both of their characters and be a symbol of all they shared was more than enough to bring tears to Ava’s eyes. But she had to be pragmatic about this. She couldn’t let her emotions rule her judgment.
Deciding to remove children from their current future plans should have been a mutual decision from both parties but she had gone ahead to do it because of all the recent circumstances.
Looking at Cynthia, she had come to the realization that no matter how much the dream of being a mother mattered to her, this was the wrong time for it. She would be unable to fight for the better part of the pregnancy and that was something she could not afford to do now.
“Adrian?”
She asked tentatively when the silence had gone on for too long.
“Yeah?”
“What do you think about it?”
“Think? I don’t think I’m capable of that at the moment. You might just have blown out all my brain cells with that.”
“Adrian!”
She lifted herself from his upper body quickly to glare at him. Adrian was simply just too much. Here she was worrying so much about something and if he would be cool with it while he wasn’t even taking her seriously. She just couldn’t deal with this man.
“Hey. I was kidding.” His voice grew serious as he looked up at her. “I want you to have my children. Our children.”
His hand drifted to her belly and she felt a spark at his touch.
“You don’t know how much but I want you to want it even more. We have our entire life ahead of us. I can wait. I know it’ll be worth every minute. You can take as long as you need to.”
And just like that he melted her heart again and left her reeling. She leaned down and kissed him before whispering against his lips.
“I love you, Adrian.”
His arms tightened around her.
“I love you too, Ava.”
She placed her head back on his chest feeling content and at peace. The atmosphere was warm and so thick with emotion that Ava sought to diffuse it with something.
“We should go out on a date.”
Adrian shifted beneath her curiously.
“A date?”
Seriously. The tone of his voice sounded like it had never occurred to him that she might want to do actual couple stuff.
“We never went on one. Like a normal couple.”
Adrian laughed.
“True. Our courtship was very unusual.”
“Courtship? Did we even have one?”
“Of course, we did. It was just unusual as well.”
A laugh escaped Ava at that.
“But if you want to go on one, I would love to.”
Ava squealed and threw herself at him dropping a kiss on his lips.
“I’d love to.”
For the first time in a long time, it felt like they were finally done with their problems, and complications and would now have time to enjoy and luxuriate in their bond. To discover new things about each other and to fall more in love with Adrian every day.
There were still problems on the horizon. The rogues that had almost decimated her pack showed her how important every day and breath was. Her sister was gone and Ava would have to find out where they had sent her to even if she couldn’t bring her back anytime soon.
Her mother might have a chronic werewolf ailment that honestly felt like a joke. A really cruel one. But in Adrian’s arms, she felt peace and love and so many good things envelop her. She felt she would be fine. She had hope for a greater, better future.
Ava knew she would be able to get through these problems with the support of her mate.
