Fortunately, Kingsley had already drunk the tea, otherwise he would have definitely spitted it all out, but Anna’s words still made him choke. He grabbed some napkins to wipe his mouth. His facial expression was hard to describe.
Anna continued, “I just want to have a grandchild sooner. You’re not young. You have to work harder to get a child. The lady next door already has a grandson who can call her grandma.”
Kingsley held his head embarrassedly, “It can’t be rushed.”
Anna patted him on the back, “Drink the tea and seize your chance.”
“…”
After taking a shower, Nora came out of the bathroom with her hair wrapped with a towel. She wore a bra under her pajamas today, which was a bit different than usual.
This was the room where Kingsley used to live in. Nora lived in another room when she came here in the past. It was her first time to be in Kingsley’s room, so she felt lost. She stood in front of the bookshelf after drying her hair.
Kingsley was renowned in high school and was expected to be sent to the Capital University, one of the best institutions in the country. But unfortunately his father had an accident that year, and all of his qualifications were withdrawn. He did not even take National College Entrance Examination in the end. Later on, he disappeared from the public sight. When he showed up again, he was already a famous businessman in City A and the CEO of the Rivertown Group.
The bookshelf was full of all sorts of books, especially the books about military science and economics. There were lots of trophies on the desk: the champion of long-distance race in City A, the first prize of high school mathematics competition, and so on. Nora scanned through each trophy, and her sight landed on a photo on the desk.
Nora picked it up and took a look. It was a photo of Kingsley and his father. Kingsley’s father was well-dressed and looked handsome in the photo. He seemed to be righteous, but he was accused of corruption and committed suicide in fear of crime like a coward.
Kingsley looked like him, but inherited more of the traits from his mother Anna, which was the reason why Kingsley possessed those perfect facial features and a more refined outline.
Kingsley was only around twelve or thirteen years old in the photo. He had short hairs and wore a blue-and-white school uniform. He grinned, revealing his big white teeth, he looked naive and outgoing. He had never smiled like that later.
As the noise sounded, the door was open.
Nora hurriedly put down the photo, but dropped it to the ground in a panic.
She knelt down to pick it up immediately.
“Boom!”
Her head crashed into the corner of the table.
Darkness blurred her eyes, and she felt the world spinning upside down, followed by a severe pain that almost made her cry out.
Kingsley paused slightly at the door and walked to her quickly. He knelt down by her side, trying to help Nora up.
Nora shook her head a few times and then stood up slowly with the support from the table. She sat down on the chair with her eyes closed and took a deep breath.
She was too painful to speak.
Kingsley caught sight of the photo frame on the ground, and he picked it up, putting it back to its original position. He frowned deeply and looked very unhappy.
Nora took a deep breath and said carefully, “Did… did I break it?”
She looked at his face carefully and explained. “I was just curious and took a look.” Noticing that Kingsley remained unhappy, she smirked, “Your father looks really handsome, and you look like him a lot.”
