Gabriele’s POV
The blaring sound of my phone pulled me out of sleep.
I groaned as I got off the bed. I had barely just gotten some sleep after downing three bottles of whisky and now a call had to come in.
There was a massive ache at the side of my head and if the caller hadn’t been so persistent I would have gotten up to switch off the damn phone.
The sound continued blaring as I moved to the sofa where I had my little pity party. My eyes were barely opened as I saw the dimmed light flash underneath the bottles.
With a hand on the side of my head, I picked up the damn device and made to switch it off when my eyes registered who it was.
It was Basilio calling.
The call ended as I stared at the device wondering why Basilio was calling by -two in the morning.
“Fuck…” I drawled.
I had told the fool to take care of every matter why was he calling me so late at night-
My thoughts paused as a cold breeze embraced my heart.
Arianna.
“No,” I hissed out. Niko had informed me when they touched down. She was certainly fine.
I was about to switch off the device when a second thought flew came to me.
What if it was a major problem?
I went to my chats and checked if he had dropped anything. There were about twenty texts from him and five from Agostino.
The ache in my head disappeared as I figured out it had to be something serious. My godfather would never text me more than once except if it was a life-threatening situation and this was five.
As I made to open the text, his call came in and I picked it up at once.
“What’s going on?” I asked the moment the call connected.
“The house has been attacked,” he said and my organs stopped functioning.
“A fire broke out and everything is charred…”
A ringing went out in my head and my blood ran cold.
“Where is Arianna?”
There was a pause on the line and an answer didn’t come through. My heart started pounding as loud as the base of a rowdy club speaker.
“Agostino where the fuck is Arianna?!” I yelled already walking out of the room.
“Angelo calm down. It was tragic -”
“What the fuck are you telling me, Agostino!? Don’t you dare say another word! I am coming there myself and I pray to heaven that you have her alive or that entire city is going to burn!”
“Angelo, you need to be calm and handle this like a man-” Agostino started to say but I ended the call at once.
I wasn’t going to waste my time listening to him. Nothing happened to Arianna. I was going there and I would find her alive.
There was no need to stay calm and act like a man because I was a man already.
“Mike!” I roared as I marched out of the room.
“Boss!” Mike called, running out of his room.
“Call the pilot we are leaving for Italy, right now!”
He raised his brows in shock but knew better than to question me. He gave a quick nod and ran ahead of me.
I marched at my pace till I got out and jumped into the first car that opened.
“Where are we going boss?” The driver asked.
“The airport!” I hissed.
My legs were shaking and my mind was restless. I refused to think about whatever could have happened back in Italy.
I trusted Agostino and I prayed he had everything under control somehow because I was really going to destroy the entire city if anything happened to Arianna.
Death by fire was something I never used on any of my victims because I found it too cruel to burn a human alive.
Now to think that my house was set ablaze and she was in there-
“Shit!” I cursed under my breath.
I shook my head refusing to believe that such a thing could happen. Arianna could not die.
She couldn’t…
The driver zoomed off into the dark streets as fast as he could and in less than fifteen minutes, we arrived at the airport.
Mike’s car was already there and I believed he must have informed the pilot.
I jumped out of the car and ran to my private parking. My hands were trembling and I could blow off someone’s head if the plane wasn’t ready.
“Boss, everything is in place. We should take off in five minutes,” Mike said running towards me.
“We take off now. Go tell him!” I hissed as I walked into the plane.
I didn’t have five minutes. Damn it! Arianna might not have fucking five minutes.
I went into the plane and started pacing. I couldn’t sit still anymore. I wished I could fly over there and find out what was happening but there was nothing I could do.
I took out my phone and went through the texts Basilio had dropped earlier. He called when the incident happened and explained how Arianna was missing.
The same thing Agostino was trying to tell me.
I dialed his number and waited for him to respond. Something wasn’t right and I knew I had to be there.
It felt like when my mother and sister had died. Basilio couldn’t tell me about it. It was Agostino that did it.
But this time, I wanted to hear it from Basilio. He knew me better plus I could easily manipulate him into giving in to what I wanted.
But the phone rang and rang and no one was picking up.
My palms were starting to sweat and I refused to think negatively but the more time passed the more sweat broke off my skin.
This couldn’t be happening… Not again…
I started heading towards the exit. I had to be anywhere but kept in a plane.
“Boss, we are about to move please be seated-” Mike started speaking but held his tongue when he saw me at the exit.
“Boss, where are you going?”
My brain went blank at that particular moment and I didn’t know what I was even doing. How did I even get to the exit?
I passed a hand through my hair roughly and returned to my seat with a stump.
“If there is a way you can make this plane land in five minutes, do it!” I growled.
I saw the look of panic in Mike’s eye but as usual, he nodded and turned away.
When he left, I suddenly felt an emptiness in my chest. I felt the fear crawling into my heart, threatening to take me alive.
Arianna had to be fine…
“Boss,” Mike called making me jump slightly out of my thoughts.
“What!” I snapped.
He held out a packaged shirt to me and my crude eyes moved from his face to the shirt in his hands and back to his face again.
He wiggled his brows and I looked behind him. There was no one there-
“Are fucking playing with me?!” I roared as my temples started hitting against my skin as my anger and frustration blended and made my brain dead.
“No, boss. The altitude has changed. You will get cold,” he said pointing at my chest.
I looked down at myself and that was when I understood what he was trying to say.
I was shirtless.
“Bring it!” I hissed snatching the damned thing from his hands.
I was in such a hurry to get to Italy, I forgot that I wasn’t putting on proper clothing.
“We should land in the next twenty minutes,” He said before slowly turning away.
I wished he could have said, two minutes. Arianna needed me and here I was stuck in the fucking skies!
Damn it!
My head was all over the place for the next minutes and till we landed. I practically didn’t wait for the fucking plain to completely stand still before I jumped out of it.
I didn’t realize when I started running as I kept dialing Basilio’s number but it was in vain.
“I am going to kill you!” I roared slamming the phone on the tarmac.
What the fuck was wrong with him?
He was supposed to be my right-hand man? Now where the fuck was my right fucking hand when I needed him?
A black Mercedes swerved right in front of me and skidded to a stop.
The door flew open and I saw Mike. How he got to the car before me was a fucking trick but that wasn’t important at the moment!
I got into the car and he sped off in the direction of the house. My heart was literally ringing in my ears the faster we moved.
We had broken every rule in aviation and got to Italy in less than the stipulated twelve hours but I couldn’t help the dark void that filled me.
I couldn’t be too late…
The sound of my phone blaring snapped me out of the chaos in my head and I saw that it was Basilio.
“Where the fuck have you been?!” I hissed clutching the phone with my life.
“Fratello we are in saint Lucas hospital… She isn’t looking so well,” he said dejectedly and I felt my

heart split.
“Turn the fucking car to Saint Lucas Now!” I yelled at Mike.
