Gabriele’s POV
“This had better be good Basilio!” I hissed again as we walked down the corridor.
“I know how much you want Ariana Fratello, I wouldn’t have disturbed you if this wasn’t important,” he replied.
I knew what he was saying was right. But the boner between my legs would take a while to relax, hence my brain
too.
“Who is this mole?” I asked to distract my mind.
“It’s best if you see it for yourself.”
We reached the lower floors where the dungeon was and he led me to the corner cell.
As my eyes fell on the person, my body froze.
I was shocked to find who was inside.
“Gabriele, it’s not what you think. Basilio is just looking for ways to throw me out of here!” She screeched so loud, a ringing developed in my ears.
Her tears had ruined her makeup so bad she looked like a drenched bimbo.
“Gabriele listen to me, I will never do anything that will hurt you. You know it! I love you too much to do that!” She added and somehow she had touched a soft spot in my heart.
Sara loved me too much to have sold me out. She was technically opposed to me. Plus all my women had no rights to leave the house except I was with them. How could she have sold me out when I and my men are the only people she knows?
“Sara?” I asked, shocked out of my wits. Of all the people I thought could sell me out, Sara was never even on the list.
“Basilio, are you sure about this?” For the first time, I questioned my best friend’s better judgment and I saw the pain in his eyes but it was only normal that I asked.
Sara, a mole -it was unbelievable.
“Fratello, how do you explain this?” He asked, flashing a cell phone I recognized as Sara’s.
I took it from him and went through the content.
My body immediately changed temperature as I glared at her.
It was a message of her telling someone that Arianna would be with me and she even went as far as telling them the location and how she was dressed.
“What’s the meaning of this Sara?” I growled.
She shook all over and her fake tears suddenly stopped flowing out from her face.
“Gabriele… I-”
“Do not even think of twisting this because I will kill you with my bare hands and you know it!” My voice boomed in the small cell and she scampered to the corner as she resumed crying.
“I am so sorry Gabriele. Please don’t kill me…” She cried as she covered her face with her hands.
I narrowed my eyes at her as I felt my body tremble with anger.
“What the fuck were you thinking?!” I howled as I hit the cell’s door.
“Argh!” She screamed in fear.
“I am so sorry… He told me he wasn’t going to harm you… Just her…”
“What?!” I spat out and then turned to Basilio, “open this damn door! Open it!”
“I am sorry Fratello but I can’t let you get in. We need her alive. I have a feeling Gianni is involved in this-”
“Of course, Gianni is fucking involved in this!” I hissed out, running my fingers through my hair.
“I saw the men shooting out there and they were his men! He is involved in this and this… She helped me!”
I felt the edge of my toes curl as anger only brewed hotter. I gave her everything. I even let her use my name and whatever she wanted that belonged to me.
I favored her over other women in the house and this was how she chose to pay me back.
“We will have to conduct a new sweep over everybody in the house. No one is to be trusted. The message proves that she is the mole but anyone else could be added as well,” Basilio said in a calm voice.
“How did she even get in contact with the fool?” I spat out as I glared at her.
My hands still itched to squeeze out her very soul and if I had a gun on me, she would have been dead a long time ago.
Basilio tapped me on my shoulders and I moved my burning gaze away from her.
“We need her alive for questioning Fratello. Gianni must be found and punished.”
Basilio’s words sank into my skull and I only fumed but my anger reduced to a drastic level.
“Who is this person you sent this message to?” I asked in a low yet dangerous voice.
“Gabriele, I am sorry,” she cried. “I didn’t know it was going to be like this… Basilio, please talk to him…” She cried.
The more tears she let out, the more I felt like squeezing the life out of her.
“If I have to repeat myself one more time then I swear even Basilio won’t be able to stop me!” My voice boomed in the hallway echoing into the distance.
“Demyan!” She spat.
“Who?” Basilio asked before I could let the word leave my mouth.
My uncle Demyan had once again allowed Gianni to use him as a pawn.
“Fuck!” I hit the walls with my bare hands as everything fell clear to me.
“What exactly did you tell him?” Basilio asked her.
“I just told him that I wanted Arianna out of Gabriele’s life for good… I swear on my mother I didn’t know he was going to attack you as well! Gabriele, I can assure you I didn’t know you would be harmed at all.”
“You know how much I love you. Gabriele, I will die first before I let anyone harm you… Please believe me, my target was just Arianna…”
I grabbed the cell’s door so suddenly it rattled under my hold. “I feel like slapping some sense into you right now!”
“I am sorry…” She cried in reply.
“What did you tell him Arianna is to him?” Basilio asked again.
“I- I told him that she was a new woman in his life and she was trying to steal him from me… He promised to help me get rid of her…”
Basilio and I exchanged looks. Demyan might have acted on his own. Gianni would have killed her right away without hesitation.
They had Arianna but for some reason, they didn’t kill her.
This was Demyan acting on his own. Probably to get some cash.
“Basilio keep her locked up until I think of what to do with her. In the meantime, I need to see my uncle,” I said as I walked away from the cell.
“Gabriele! Gabriele, please don’t leave me here! I am sorry!” Sara called out over and over but I tuned out her nose and continued walking out till I stepped into natural light again.
I got into my dark sports car and drove off to my uncle’s place.
I needed to calm my head by listening to his advice.
“Angelo,” He said the moment he opened the door.
“Godfather,” I greeted as he welcomed me into the house
“Basilio called and informed me of the new development. I have always known that Sara girl was not to be trusted.” He walked in and I followed slowly behind him.
“I don’t even know how to put my head around it. I gave Sara everything!” I said as I settled into a couch.
“Aish, women.” He poured me a drink and passed the glass. “Don’t think too much about it. The good thing is Both you and Arianna are safe and that’s all that matters.”
“Of course,” I said as I gulped down the drink.
“Who has she been in contact with?” My godfather asked.
“Demyan,” I whispered.
My godfather dropped his glass and focused his beady eyes on me. His brows pulled together and I knew he was thinking.
A let out a breath after a while and said, “we need to inform your father about this…”
“No, that’s out of the question. That man isn’t my father plus he shouldn’t be trusted with any sort of information. Plus Demyan is his brother. What do you think he would do?”
“Angelo, your father has been searching for Demyan longer than you have. I am sure he would have more leads and this occurrence might have been predicted by him long before it happened!”
“If you are trying to say that I should have communicated with him then you are wasting your time. I won’t talk to that man!” I hissed out.
Silence filled the room. I know he was giving me time to think but I didn’t need to think about my decision. I would rather die than talk to that man.
“How do you propose we find him then?” My godfather said, finally breaking the silence.
“Sara. She will send him a text and she will go to him.”
“You think he will fall for that?” He asked with raised brows.
“We will just have to give it a trial.”
