“Is it safe for me to eat with her?” He joked, trying to lighten the mood. Becky frowned.
“Lucy is really a nice girl. She had a fight with her boyfriend, Sylvester, that’s why she overreacted to the pillow fight,” she replied. He sighed because he could tell that Becky was upset. Becky went to her closet and pulled out a towel.
“Here. You need a shower,” she said without preamble. He turned red and opened his mouth to explain, but she turned away and led him to the guy’s bathroom before he could respond. She grabbed his shoulder just before he entered.
“Look, just be careful. Linda is one of my best friends,” Becky said with a sigh and turned without another word, leaving him to his shower.
Mike thought about her as he showered. He realized sleeping with her sorority big sister was probably a mistake. He would only be here for three days, but she would have to deal with whatever he did long after he was gone. He didn’t want her to lose friends because of him.

Twenty four minutes later, Linda came to the room. She smiled warmly at him, but said nothing about their earlier activity. They met Lucy at the cafeteria. He apologized for the earlier pillow fight, but she just shook her head.
“I should be apologizing to you,” she said with a smile. She had striking blue eyes and her smile was just as attractive in person as it was in her pictures.
“No, it was your room. If there’s anything I can do to make it up, please let me know,” He said sincerely. Linda laughed.
“Watch this one, Lucy girl. He’s dangerous,” Linda said. Becky snorted and he blushed slightly. Lucy watched in confusion. He quickly changed the subject.
“Let’s go back to the room and have a couple of drinks before going out,” Becky said once the meal was over. They stopped and picked up some wine and beer on the way.
Lucy set up a trivia game as Becky poured drinks. Lucy was pretty upset about her fight with her boyfriend Sylvester. He wanted to see other people. Lucy told him that he could see whomever he wanted, just not her anymore. It sounded like she was serious.
Mike went to the bathroom after an hour or so, when he came back, the girls quickly went silent. He figured they were talking about him from their expressions. Lucy was looking at him oddly, so he guessed they informed her about Linda and his earlier antics. She sat further away from him as they started playing the trivia game again. He sighed.
Another hour passed and they once again laughing and playing. There was a phone call and Becky looked unhappy as she spoke to the person on the line. She hung up the phone and cursed.
“Linda, you and I have a sorority function to go to right now,” she said after she calmed down. Linda nodded.
“A big sister’s job is never done,” Linda replied with a sigh, and then she added, “I thinkI know what this is about. If I’m correct, then we won’t be back until after midnight.” Becky cursed again.
“Lucy, would you mind entertaining my cousin for the rest of the night?” she asked her roommate. Lucy smiled and shrugged.
“No problem. My plans for tonight are open,” she said, half in jest. It was obvious she was thinking about her breakup with Sylvester.
“Thanks,” Becky sighed.
“Lucy, be careful. He’s sneaky,” Linda added.
“Hey!” Mike said. Linda cut him off before he could say anything else.
“But he is very talented!” He blushed as both Linda and Becky left. Lucy watched him wearily.
“Oh, relax! I’m not a hormone-crazed monster. What happened between Linda and I was as much a surprise to me as it was to her. I will get another glass of wine. You reset the game,” He said and went to their small fridge. They began chatting about the difference between their schools. This seemed to relax Lucy.
They were both feeling no pain an hour later. The games were close and he was having a lot of fun. He was resetting the board once again when Lucy surprised him by asking questions about what happened between Linda and him.
“So, did you and Linda really sleep together?” she asked calmly.
“Yes,” He replied honestly. Both him and Lucy blushed.
“Was it as good as she said?” Lucy asked.
“I enjoyed it,” He replied, stunned at the turn in the conversation. “Lucy, where are you going with these questions?”
“Well, you are attractive and I like you, but Becky is my roommate and I don’t want to screw our relationship up,” she finally said.
“Hey, don’t worry about it. I have no intention of making things difficult for you and my cousin either,” He replied.
“Yeah, but we’ve been drinking and I’m well into buzzed, coming real close to drunk. After today, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, I need to know whether you would take advantage of a drunk girl,” she said with a straight face while looking at him.
“Only if she asks nicely,” He replied nervously. It was a stupid statement, but he had far less experience than Becky and her friends seemed to think.
“No, I’m serious!” Lucy snapped. “My relationship with Sylvester was not a good one from the start. I need some time before I get involved with someone else.”
“Hey, relax! I’m not into taking advantage of anyone,” He replied. She started at him for a few moments.
“You sure you’re just not interested in me?” Lucy asked. He groaned to himself. First, she thought he was going to take advantage of her, and now she was thinking he don’t find her attractive.
“Lucy, you’re very attractive and a man would have to be crazy not to want to be with you,” He said. She looked at him carefully, finally nodded, and visibly relaxed.
“So, you would sleep with me if I were willing?” she asked.
“In a heart beat,” He replied honestly.
“Even considering that I’m your cousin’s roommate?” she asked. He knew she was just teasing him, but he decided to go with it.
“Look, you’re a beautiful girl. I wouldn’t want to lead you on or anything, but if you were just in it for the sex, who am I to refuse.” He replied.
