“Bring him over right now,” Kelly ordered.
The man was dragged over by Kelly’s men. His head was still lowered. When they reached the safe and made him stand up, the man fell to the ground with a plop. He could not even stand up straight.
It was only then that the people in the room realized that the man had long fainted.
Kevin and Kelly were shocked as they looked at each other.
Kelly could not believe that just one kick of his will render a man unconscious. He was flabbergasted as he looked at the fainted man on the ground.
The man did not seem to be faking it. He looked like he was injured pretty badly.
“I told you to take it easy. Now our only hope has been lost. You know that we can’t wait any longer since we have no idea when Ashton will be back.” Kevin said. He was so mad that he felt like kicking someone but he could not. The only thing he could do was take a deep breath to calm himself down.
Kelly was his alpha and he could not just act on impulse. Whatever happened and no matter how pissed off he was, he could only swallow the anger down to the bottom of his stomach.
“Uncle don’t worry. My brother won’t be coming back anytime soon. I have already inquired about it. He went to the northern mountains with that witch and it might take him years for him to come back. Who knows, he might even never come back which will save me the trouble of killing him.” Kelly said.
“Where did you get the information from?” Kevin asked with a frown. He might be considered Kelly’s right-hand man and he was good at collecting Intel, but he didn’t know about such kind of thing.
He couldn’t help but look at Kelly. He felt like he was only being used by Kelly and he wasn’t someone important to him.
“That is not any of your concern. Just make sure that this man wakes up and he opens the safe. The sooner the better.” Kelly said.
“I’m going to see the old man. It is time he fulfilled his promise.” Kelly said as he left the study room without even turning back.
Kevin looked at his retreating back then at the poor young man lying on the floor then sighed.
He really was aging faster the more he stayed with Kelly. The young man was arrogant and he had no sense of responsibility. He didn’t even know if he was doing the right thing or not.
When he decided to help Kelly he thought that he was a meticulous and calm person. But the more he stayed by his side the more he realized that that brat did not have even one trait of an alpha. He was way too arrogant and impatient.
He did not have the patience and cunningness that Ashton had. Ashton liked to watch and see as his enemy lost his cool and patience before he made a move. He never did anything irrational and he never involved himself in a battle he wasn’t sure of winning.
Every strategy of his was well planned out. If not for the fact that his father, Gael had neglected them and treated them as bastards, Kevin would have followed Ashton and worked for him.
He did not want to be disgraced like Leonard. He did not want to be only a mere gamma, he wanted more. He wanted to serve in the royal council.
Now he had no choice but to betray Ashton. He knew that the moment Ashton came back would be the end for them. Although they had destroyed half of Ashton’s powerful supporters they knew that one Ashton would be able to destroy three to four packs on his own let alone an arrogant Kelly.
Kevin dragged the man and left the study room. He had to find a way to wake him up before the ‘great alpha’ called him incompetent.
The moment he left Maya and Ashton revealed themselves. Maya had been holding it in and the moment she let go she fainted due to exhaustion. It was the first time she was performing such a powerful spell since it hadn’t been long since she learned that she could actually use magic.
Ashton caught her in time and placed her on the sofa that she was used to sleeping on. He made her sleep into a more comfortable position, locked the door from the inside, and walked towards the safe.
He actually had not had the time to lock it and if by chance they had tried to open it, they could have succeeded. It was only thanks to Kelly for losing his temper and kicking the man until he was unconscious.
Ashton immediately emptied the safe and closed it after activating the self-destruction device. The safe was specifically designed for him and if anymore tried to forcefully open it, it will self-destruct.
It was only he and his most trusted beta, Theo that had the highest authority to open the safe.
He had not activated the self-destruction because he knew that no one would ever want to open his safe.
But now he had no choice. Kelly had betrayed him and wanted to take over the pack. Why would he help him? He would let him know that it wasn’t easy being an alpha.
After destroying everything that was in the safe, Ashton walked toward Maya. Her face was slightly pale. She seemed to have used up all her energy and even with the help of her wolf abilities, it will take her some times to recover. But Ashton did not have time to lose.
Kelly had said that he was going to see his grandfather. He didn’t know the deal that the two people had made but he needed to find out.
He also needs to find Theo as soon as possible. Although it was very faint, using their alpha-beta bond, he could feel that Theo was still alive.
Ashton sat on his chair and concentrated his mind on finding his grandfather’s location.
He wanted to use his super hearing abilities to listen to the conversation between Kelly and his grandfather.
But he never imagined that he will be blocked out the moment he linked his mind. He felt like his heart was being ripped apart.
Ashton felt something was wrong. He felt something flow from his nose and when he touched it he was stunned.
He was bleeding. But why? But when he looked at the color of the blood, he was even more stunned.
It was his wolf’s blood. He was the wolf who was injured, but why?
