chapter 8

Book:Alpha Badass Luna Published:2024-6-2

After confirming that they were mates, Maya and Ashton spent almost all their time together.
Maya was eager to know more about Ashton and especially her past while Ashton was eager to know the kind of life Maya had led for the last fifteen years.
Ashton had assigned most of the pack matters to his beta, Theo.
Everyone was happy to finally learn that their alpha has found his mate, but when they saw the frail-looking Maya, they were shocked.
Others looked at her with disdain especially when they learned that she was already twenty and never shifted even for once.
The ladies who were obsessed with their alpha Ashton would send her hostile gazes making Maya tremble in fear.
She thought that if she were to walk alone around the pack, she will never come back alive.
Those people would probably kill her at the first sight of her.
But they were afraid to make a move as most of the time, she was always with Ashton, hiding behind his back.
“Hmph, I have never seen such a weak luna. How is she supposed to help alpha Ashton lead the pack when she even doesn’t know the basics of being a wolf?” Someone grumbled angrily when Ashton and Maya passed by.
The person thought that she had lowered her voice enough.
But who was Ashton, he had the sharpest hearing that he could even hear the breathing of a fly let alone the murmuring of a grown person.
He turned around and looked at the person who was talking.
Just one glance and that person almost went down on her knees.
She felt that she had already died from the glance and only after Ashton disappeared from her sight did she touch her pounding heart.
It was just a one-second glance but she felt like she had already reached hell.
“Wooah, that was dangerous.” The person said to her friends.
“Who told you to talk about your luna? You know that she is his precious gem yet you dared gossip behind her back?.” Someone whispered.
“I thought that he wouldn’t hear.”
“What! Are you kidding me? He is the alpha. If he wanted to, he would expose all your secrets with just one glance.”
“You are lucky that he has been in a good mood recently or else, you would already be rotting in hell already.”
“The best thing we can do now stops judging our luna and start accepting her instead.”
At alphas villa…
Maya was sitting on the sofa, sighing from time to time.
“What is it?” Ashton asked.
“I just feel that we are being incredulous!” Maya said.
“Why?”
“Everyone is judging me and talking behind my back, I feel like I’m a pig who was eaten their good cabbage,” Maya said.
A self-mocking smile was hanging on her lips, making Ashton’s heart break into pieces.
“Why would you say so? Who dares look down on their luna? I will kill them immediately.”
“Aren’t you afraid that you will end up killing your whole pack?” Maya asked. She knew that Ashton was probably joking with her.
She thought he was just placating her to make her happy.
But instead, she saw alpha Aston taking her small face in his huge palms and looking at her seriously.
“As long as I’m with you, I can always start all over again and again. I created this pack and I can uncreate it if I want.” Ashton said.
“As long as you are by my side, I will do anything for you as long as you are happy, my princess,” Ashton said.
Maya was shocked as she looked at Ashton with an emotional gaze.
Although she had once been promised the whole world, she did not feel as touched as she did right now.
At that time, she had naively thought that it was only normal for a boyfriend to give his girlfriend the world.
But after her world shattered in front of her, she had no hope left in life.
She thought that she will always be a slave. An unwanted omega whom everyone stumbled upon.
But now, she was sitting right in front of the most powerful alpha and he was making such a solemn vow.
She knew that Ashton meant every word he said to her.
After knowing him for the past few weeks, she knew that he has never gone back to his words, no matter how small the promises were.
“You don’t have to get rid of your pack. It’s not worth it.” Maya said as she hugged him.
“But they are talking bad about you, it makes my heart hurt,” Ashton said.
“No matter how much your heart hurts, promise that you will never do anything stupid,” Maya said.
“Aren’t you bothered?”
“Of course I am. But even if they talk, it’s none of my business. They are just envious of me and think that I don’t deserve to be with their alpha.”
“I’m just a nobody who popped out of nowhere and snatched their most brilliant and powerful alpha, if I were them, I would also hate myself.” Maya tried to explain to Ashton.
“And if you kill anyone, I’m going to feel guilty for the rest of my life, so dear, don’t worry about what they say. They are just a bunch of envious people.”
“As you say, my queen,” Ashton said.
The two continued to hug like that until Maya’s stomach growled.
They looked at each other and burst out laughing.
“You should be hungry, right?” Ashton asked as he looked at Maya.
“Yeah, kind of.”
“Come on, that growl was loud enough to make my house tremble like it was an earthquake attack,” Ashton said.
“Are you saying that…” Maya blushed at being teased by Ashton.
She was already embarrassed enough and yet he was still making fun of her!
“No princess, I didn’t mean anything,” Ashton said, grabbing the pillow that had been thrown at him.
“And you should stop calling me princess already,” Maya said.
It felt weird for someone to call her a princess when she had been a slave somewhere else.
“But you are my princess.”
“Just call me by my name.”
“What about babe, baby, honey, honeypie, darling, sweetheart…..”
“Stop it!” Maya blushed.
This man was out of his mind.
Those cheesy words coming from his mouth made Maya’s body to be covered in goosebumps.
“Which one do you choose?”
“Nothing. Just do whatever makes you happy.”
“Alright, honey,” Ashton said shamelessly.
“I think the princess is better.”
“I will go and see if the servants can prepare you some food,” Ashton said as he got up from his seat.
“Wait.”
“Aren’t you hungry?”
“I am but….” Maya hesitated. She didn’t know if she could try and test her limits.
“Just say it. Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”
“No. I wanted to ask if you can….. you know…. cook.” Maya said, looking at Ashton nervously.
“Just forget about it. You are an alpha, how could you know how to cook, just get the servants to prepare anything for me.” Maya said.
Ashton did not say anything as he stood up and went to the kitchen.
“Alpha…” The servants lowered their heads as they greeted Ashton.
“I want to borrow the kitchen for a while.”
“What would alpha like to do in the kitchen? Just tell us, and we will do it for you.” The servants said.
They did not know what their alpha wanted to do, but they could never allow him to enter the kitchen.
“Just move out for like one hour and don’t let anyone come in. There is something I want to do.”
“But your alpha, you…”
“Just do as I say,” Ashton said.
With his powerful aura, the servants had no choice but to leave in submission.
Maya waited in the sitting room for thirty minutes but the man did not show up.
‘Was he displeased because I asked him if he could cook?’ Maya thought.
Maya had no choice but to walk towards the kitchen. She was feeling hungry and she couldn’t wait anymore.
She has been eating well lately and she has gained some weight. At least her thin bones now had some meat on them.
Maya walked to the kitchen, wondering how petty that man could have been to dump her in the living room.
Couldn’t he have just denied it? What was the need of ignoring her?
When Maya reached the kitchen door, she was stunned and stiff by what she saw.
Ashton was in the kitchen cutting vegetables with great concentration.
‘What is he doing? Could he be….” Maya was shocked.
She felt a myriad of emotions overcome her.
Who would have thought her careless words would lead to her seeing the almighty alpha personally preparing her dinner?
She felt so touched that she felt like crying.
“What are you standing there for? Go out it’s kind of oily in here, dinner will be ready in a bit.” Ashton said without even turning to look at Maya.
He could already imagine her expression even without looking.
