Dolores was left speechless.
Since she didn’t have much to do and Terry would handle things later, Teresa could manage the shop on her own. It had been a long time since she had felt so free. After giving birth to Samuel and Simona, she had to study for her exams and then work. She hadn’t had a chance to relax in years. These days should be used for rest.
Leaning back in her chair, she withdrew her hand from Matthew’s and said, “Drive carefully.”
Matthew felt like he was missing something, even with his hands on the steering wheel. He felt a sense of emptiness, and he only felt complete when he was closer to this woman.
They stopped at a red light, and almost unconsciously, Matthew placed his hand on Dolores’ thigh. Dolores was speechless… this man.
He began to caress her gently, and before Dolores could object, he said, “We’re married.” He thought that if she wouldn’t sleep with him, at least she could let him touch her. He was just an ordinary man, after all, and she couldn’t expect him to be a monk.
A woman’s thigh was a very private part of her body. Moreover, he was audacious enough to continue rubbing her thigh until she began to feel a tinge of arousal. She tightly gripped a part of her clothing, looking away and avoiding his gaze.
Her heart continued to race, and she couldn’t seem to control her own emotions whenever she was with him. Dolores didn’t protest, and Matthew felt satisfied. His hand remained on her thigh but didn’t move as he continued driving toward the towering business district.
Soon enough, the car arrived at the underground garage of the WY Group building. It was a new car Matthew had recently purchased for Dolores, and it hadn’t been registered with the parking system yet. The guard exclaimed, “This is the garage for the WY Group and is not open to the public. Please go elsewhere.”
Matthew rolled down the window, and as soon as the guard saw him, he quickly raised the barrier and welcomed him, saying, “Oh, it’s Mr. Nelson. I didn’t know it was you.” He certainly didn’t want to prevent the boss from entering and risk losing his job. He glanced at the woman sitting beside Matthew and was taken aback. He had been working there for almost five years and had never seen a woman in Matthew’s car before. This was the first time, and he couldn’t help but give her a good look. Matthew glared at the guard and rolled up the window to block his view.
After parking the car, Matthew handed the keys to Dolores, who accepted them.
“Thanks,” she said. Although he kept emphasizing that they were married, Dolores knew that this marriage wasn’t based on willingness or mutual attraction. It was an arranged marriage by their parents.
She realized that the car cost over a million yuan. He didn’t want any money from her, but she felt uncomfortable and wanted to express her gratitude.
“Do you really want to show your gratitude?” Matthew grinned.
Dolores responded naturally, “Of course.”
He leaned closer. “If you really mean it, then kiss me to show your gratitude, hmm?”
Dolores was speechless. What was this man thinking? Didn’t he realize where they were? It was his office! What if someone saw them?
Dolores pushed him away and said, “Don’t play around.”
“Then you owe me,” he said, taking Dolores’ hand and placing it on his arm as they walked toward the elevator.
Dolores felt uneasy and bit her lip as she said, “Wouldn’t it be inappropriate for the staff to see us like this?” Her position was rather awkward.
Moreover, he had just rejected another marriage proposal. What would others think if they believed she was the cause of it?
“I don’t want others to think I’m a mistress. I don’t like it,” she explained. Dolores didn’t approve of the concept of being a mistress. The idea of falling in love at the wrong time or meeting someone you love at the wrong moment… They were all excuses to her.
Just like Randolph, who had a change of heart and didn’t care about his wife’s life or death for the sake of his own pleasure.
“We’ll do this differently in the future…” She was willing to hold his hand in public if he still cared for her and not just due to a surge of emotions.
Matthew fell into deep thought. He also didn’t like mistresses because there was one in his family. He let go of Dolores’ hand.
When the elevator stopped, some people entered and greeted Matthew, saying, “Mr. Nelson.” Matthew nodded in acknowledgement. The elevator ride was unusually quiet.
Matthew slowly reached over to touch Dolores’ hand, and she felt a jolt of electricity run through her. She quickly pulled her hand back and took a step away from him.
One of the staff members in the elevator turned around to look at Dolores and asked, “Are you new at WY Group? I don’t remember seeing you before.”
Dolores didn’t know how to respond and simply said, “Yes, I’m new here.”
“Oh? Which department?” a male colleague asked.
Dolores was left speechless, wringing her hands.
Matthew stood tall, occupying a significant portion of the elevator. He wore a slight grin, genuinely curious about Dolores’ response.
Ding.
The colleague exited the elevator, and Dolores breathed a sigh of relief, her tense shoulders easing.
“I need a secretary,” Matthew stated.
Dolores looked at him and swiftly declined, “That’s impossible. I have my own job.”
She had no intention of serving him. It would be madness to give up her passion as a designer and work as his secretary.
“Should I talk to Mrs. William and have her close her branch here?” Matthew suggested.
Dolores immediately faltered, “No.”
“No what?” Matthew pressed on.
“Don’t mention it to Mrs. William,” Dolores replied.
“Okay. Give me a kiss, and I won’t say anything,” Matthew teased.
Dolores was left speechless, on the brink of losing her mind due to his antics.
“Aren’t you a scoundrel?” Dolores glared at him.
“I always am,” Matthew declared.
Once again, Dolores found herself speechless.
Suddenly, Matthew seized Dolores by the waist. Before she could react, she could feel his warm breath against her neck. His soft lips gently pressed against her forehead. It happened so swiftly that Dolores almost thought she was imagining things. But she knew she wasn’t. She could still feel the lingering warmth on her forehead and his breath.
Standing to the side, Matthew grinned like a child who had just received a new toy.
As the elevator stopped, Matthew stepped out and headed towards his office, saying, “I’m thirsty.”
Dolores looked around but didn’t see anyone else. Was he talking to her? She wondered. It was evident that he was addressing her since there was no one else around. Did he really see her as his secretary? Dolores let out a sigh and, with a sense of familiarity, made her way to the pantry as if she had worked there before. She easily located it and poured a glass of water for him.
There were some changes. In the past, there used to be several women, but now it seemed only men occupied this level. Emotionally, she sighed, contemplating how time could bring about significant changes.
As Dolores and the manager of the finance department, Candance Jones, entered the Director’s office, an accident occurred. Dolores carelessly spilled water on Candance, causing her expression to darken instantly.
