Book:The Selfish CEO Published:2024-6-2

“Stop it, I’m uncomfortable.” Xia Feiqing was a little uncomfortable and held her hand in place. She was somewhat helpless. Drinking so much wine, how could it be good?
“Don’t sleep here, let’s go back.” She only had to push him again with her other hand. His head moved uncomfortably and he slowly opened his eyes. In his hazel eyes, the small, clear face appeared, and he shifted slightly.
The crest of a suppressed brow, furrowed, and then, slowly, relaxed, “It’s you?”
“Why are you drinking so much?” Can smell the alcohol all over him, she pulls him a little, “Can you get up? I’ll take you back.”
He was drunk. Not realizing that this was reality, but that he was dreaming. She pulled him and he didn’t move, instead reaching out and pulling her right into his lap to sit in a good hug. She was stunned, remembering how out of control she had been last night, and now this ambiguous proximity was also disorganizing her mind.
“You’re drunk.” She struggled slightly.
“Well, drunk …” he lazily responded, just now the mood is still very depressed, now holding her, all of a sudden like a lot better. His whole face was buried in the nape of her neck, greedily breathing in her scent deeply. That burning breath all sprayed on the nape of her neck, she shuddered, her body burning, wanting to escape. However, she was dominated by him with one hand to hoop her waist, “Don’t move, let me hug you!”
She sighed and really just didn’t move. He leaned against the nape of her neck for a long time and murmured, “Lan Lan …”
“Hmm?” She dropped her eyes, her voice softer.
“Why won’t you remarry me?” He asked suddenly, his voice muffled.
She froze, her heart fluctuating, biting her lip and not answering him back. He didn’t even know what he was talking about at this point, I’m afraid.
“No answer?” He lifted his head and leaned wearily over toward the couch’s backrest. A long arm wrapped around her, allowing her entire body to lie on his chest. His eyelashes drooped, his long lashes capping them down and diffusing a light shadow. He kept his eyes on her, staring, and asked insistently, “Why not? Do you still hate me?”
His chest thumped and jumped, each stroke strong and firm, pounding through her chest directly into her heart “Are you serious?” She looked at him in return, a thin mist of water covering the bottom of her eyes, “Are you serious about marrying me?”
He smiled sarcastically, “I even brought my account book, do you think I’m serious?”
“I can’t see it.” She shook her head, “I used to … think that you might be a little bit serious about your feelings for me, but, as it turned out …”
She was silent as she spoke.
He also fell silent.
At the mention of the past, the atmosphere immediately became a bit stiff and condensed. She breathed out, “Forget it, the past is over, there’s no need to be too stubborn.”
She feigned a lighter tone and ruffled her hair, “I’m sorry, there’s no way I can marry you. It may seem to you that I should be grateful for your favor, but … there is no longer any possibility between us.”
No way …
He stiffened, his eyes darkening.
She stood up with feigned briskness, “Get up, I’ll walk you back.”
He reached out his hand to her, indicating that he couldn’t stand up. Zhao Lanlan had no choice but to frame his arm onto her own slim shoulders, and then, gritting her teeth, she struggled to help his heavy body up. He was so heavy that the strength of his entire body was almost leaning on her.
“Lan Lan …,” he called to her again.
Her hand, resting on his waist, was called by those two words that made her heart tremble lightly, and her hand subconsciously tensed. It took a moment before a hmmm came out of her nose.
“Since we’re never going to make it, now … why are you here?” He smiled sarcastically, his entire body resting on top of hers, “Was I dreaming?”
“… Not a dream.” Zhao Lanlan returned to him, eyes downcast, helping him out, “We … might be able to get along peacefully and be friends.”
“Friend?” He snorted, “Can you consider me a friend? We … used to be so close, can you forget?”
“There’s nothing you can’t forget if you want to.”
***
“Like this?” Xia Feiqing lightly exhaled, “One day, I will be able to forget about you too …”
“…” Zhao Lanlan didn’t answer again, her heart was in fine pain, like there were many holes constantly being stabbed out in her heart. She lowered her head and continued to walk outside with him.
“How do we get back?” He asked suddenly, changing the subject.
“I’ll put you in a cab.”
“Oh.”
The two were quiet for two minutes before he spoke again, “Are you relieved that I’m alone … drunk like this in a cab?”
“Should … be okay?”
“I don’t know.” The two people entered the elevator together, down, he refused to lean against the wall, or lean against her. His muffled voice fell on her ears, “Anyway, … if I meet thugs who take my wallet and cell phone, I can’t fight back now in this condition …”
She felt deeply that this guy was doing it on purpose.
Results …
When she waited for the cab to arrive, she was still hesitant to go with him as she shoved him inside. He was so drunk, he didn’t know if he’d be able to find his way to his own door.
While hesitating, Xia Feiqing reached out and pulled her hand. His body was still sitting in the car, his head drowsily leaning against the car’s backrest, and he didn’t say anything, but the meaning was already obvious.
“You might as well go with your boyfriend, I’m not responsible for driving you home when you’re drunk like that.” The driver poked his head out and said, “Turn around and puke on my car, and I still have to clean it up myself.”
“… Okay then.” She compromised.
She was going to go in the front seat, but, he tugged at her and wouldn’t let go. She had no choice but to bend over to the passenger seat, and he moved his body inward, leaving the seat empty for her.
Xia Feiqing was honest and peaceful. He had been sitting against the side, his hand pressed down on his brow in agony.
Jo Langland hesitated, but asked, “Headache?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Stomach’s not so good either.” He added.
“You didn’t have dinner?” She frowned lightly with her fine eyebrows.
“… hmmm.”
She was a little helpless, wanting to say something, the words reached her lips and she wanted to stop.
The car, on its way, sped through the dark night. Zhao Lanlan kept her eyes on the window, staring at the scenery that swung by in a daze. There was a weight on her shoulder, and his head leaned over and rested on her shoulder. She lowered her eyes, looking at his difficult appearance, and eventually moved her hands to move him around, adjusting him to the most comfortable position.
By the time the car arrived at Natsu’s house, her shoulders were sore and aching. She pulled out money for the driver, who had woken up with his eyes open.
“Get out of the car, we’re home.” Zhao Lanlan went out first and reached out to help him out. “Go on inside, I’ll drop you off here.”
“Not going up?” Xia Feiqing looked at her.
“Well … not going.” Already divorced, it was more than a little uncomfortable and awkward to go up to his house again. What’s more, he already has a fiancée. It was really too abrupt to go up like this by himself.
