After entering the room, Kennedy took Alice to the sink to wash and dry her hands. So far she realized that she had cut her hand, that she had accidentally cut herself when she had knelt down to pick up the fragments.
At that moment she froze for an instant and then stood up, unable to understand how things could have turned out like this.
-Such a small wound, how did you find it? -Alice looked at the wound and said.
Kennedy didn’t respond with a disgruntled expression, then took the wounded spot in her mouth and sucked it gently.
-You! -Alice blushed and tried to withdraw her own hand.
But Kennedy’s strength was so great that she could not free herself. It took him a while to release her and he said coldly, -Don’t do that again, and call the nanny.
Alice put on a grudging expression, -It was just an accident, I’ve done everything right before, it’s just….
She hesitated, curious about what Rachel had just said to Kennedy in the living room, and then asked cautiously, -Did my aunt say anything to you just now?
Kennedy looked at her and did not answer.
Her look made Alice go for her sleeve anxiously.
-Tell me.
-What’s the hurry?
She spoke lightly, and her voice was low and pleasant, with a smile in her eyes.
-Is this what you call an accident?
-It is not! -There was a moment’s silence, and Alice shook her head.
-Don’t worry.
Seeing that she looked a little crestfallen, Kennedy took her hand and cupped her pale palm in his.
-“On my grandfather’s side, I’ll take care of it, and if that’s not possible, I can still elope with you, can’t I?” she asked.
At the last sentence, Alice exclaimed.
-Are you serious? Would you come with me if your grandfather didn’t approve?
-There’s really no choice but to do it, is there? -The palm of the hand that still clenched her had moved to her lips. He leaned closer and said softly, -You’ll have to take care of me when the time comes.
Alice didn’t even think about it, she simply grabbed his hand and nodded without a half-hearted nod.
-No problem!
The contract this man gave Zain before the wedding was literally to give her all his possessions; to him, she was more important than anything else.
To her, too, he was certainly more important than anything else.
“I’m going to raise him on his own money anyway,” Alice thought secretly.
Kennedy, for his part, froze as he met her unwavering gaze, glared at her for a long moment and then suddenly smiled.
-Why so silly?
-What?
-Shouldn’t a girl’s first reaction when she hears something like that be to be shocked?
-Why? -Alice asked incredulously.
-A gigolo, and you can accept that?
Gigolo?
Alice unconsciously wrinkled her nose, -Of course I resent gigolos.
Before Kennedy could say the words that followed, she added, -But if this person is you, I don’t care!
Kennedy was completely taken aback.
The woman before him was clean and pure in her feelings for him, without a trace of impurity, and seemed to accept him for all that he was.
At this thought, Kennedy could not resist raising his hand and drawing her into his arms.
The scene of the first time he had seen her appeared in his mind .
Then she rushed toward him, all excited, gazing at him with burning, shining eyes, having a lost and found feeling.
Later, a man came up and told him that it was a case of mistaken identity on her part.
She shouted no and was taken away.
Now that she was being so kind to himself, had she made a mistake again? Or, perhaps, take him as a substitute?
At this thought, Kennedy’s eyes rolled with a flash of anger, and his arms tightened a little around her.
Alice felt a little breathless in his arms, and unconsciously put a little distance between them.
Warm as that embrace was, she still worried that it might accidentally hurt the baby’s.
But this action caused Kennedy to frown and ask contritely, -What’s wrong?
Alice merely smiled.
-Nothing’s wrong.
Kennedy thought she was overthinking it, looking at her crush. How could she think of him as a substitute when she had already called her aunt here?
-All right,” He took her in his arms again, only this time with a much gentler force than before.
After the meal, Kennedy left, and before she did she called the previous babysitter. Alice wanted to refuse, but said nothing at the man’s affirmative look.
Then the sitter arrived and after greeting Alice and Rachel she headed for the kitchen.
Alice felt a little helpless and Raquel couldn’t help but tease her at this look.
-If you hadn’t dropped the plate he wouldn’t have done it like that.
Hearing this, Alice felt a little embarrassed.
-Aunt, you don’t think I broke the plate on purpose, do you?
-Isn’t that so? -Raquel raised an eyebrow and laughed.
-No!
Rachel gave her a look of disbelief and Alice added in a heavier tone, “I really didn’t!
Alice tried to explain herself, but the look on Rachel’s face and the look in her eyes made Alice feel that her explanations were useless.
The two women didn’t have much to talk about together and it wasn’t long before Rachel got bored and wanted to go home.
Alice walks her to the door, only to open it and find Dylan, who was about to ring the doorbell.
Dylan’s hand finished ringing the doorbell, only for the door to burst open.
Both parties froze for a moment.
After a moment, Dylan awkwardly let go of her hand and nodded to both of them with an awkward smile.
He was about to speak when Rachel brought her arms to her chest and gave him a cold look.
-Dylan, I don’t even want to answer the phone, do you think I’m going to see him?” Raquel didn’t even bother to be polite, and she knew what Dylan had come for, so first of all, she just plainly stated her own attitude.
Dylan also had a slightly embarrassed look on his face, looking at Alice, who was standing next to him, and rubbing his nose sardonically.
-Mr. George misses you, he has been waiting for many years for your return, is it true that you are not going to join your father in this rare opportunity?
At his words, Raquel growled.
-Does he expect me to come back? I think he expects me to die out there, don’t you? So I don’t have to go back and make a fool of myself for him, do I? As for visiting him, I don’t think it’s necessary, what do I have to talk to an old man who’s been stubborn all his life?
Both Raquel and Rosa had left the Carlos family and had changed their last names right away, so it was clear that they were on bad terms with the family, but Alice had not expected Raquel to be on such bad terms with Jorge.
