Chapter 814: How inconvenient.

Book:Married To The Most Powerful Man Published:2024-5-1

Before Anthony said those words, Kennedy thought that this affair between him and Zoe was so easy that he could settle it with a few words.
Therefore, to him, he didn’t give the matter any importance at all.
Once it was settled, everything went back to normal as usual.
But now from Anthony’s words, Kennedy felt that the plans he had arranged had been thrown into disarray beforehand.
It was like a game of chess. He had clearly set up his pieces and suddenly along came a rampaging animal and knocked over his board. All his efforts were in vain.
Thinking of this, Kennedy’s face became very serious. He looked at Anthony as if he were looking at a dead man.
Kennedy’s coldness made Anthony take two steps back and cough slightly.
-Kennedy, it’s really not my fault. You didn’t tell me what happened either, did you? And… when I called your assistant, he didn’t answer the phone. I almost called her a thousand times, and I thought she was angry because she knew….
Kennedy’s tone was very low.
-Who asked you to mind my business? Do you really have nothing to do?
Anthony took a few more steps back, -No, I’m a little busy, I was just passing by. Well, since I already told you what happened, I’m leaving.
Not caring about Kennedy’s reaction, Anthony turned around and started running.
After running a long distance, Anthony looked back, covering his chest. And he was relieved to see Kennedy heading in the direction of the garage.
He hoped he wouldn’t blow it this time. He really would have to kill himself if the two of them couldn’t be together because of him.

Alice paced the streets for a long time. When she realized how late it was, she started to head home.
So she took a cab. When she got out of the car, she heard a cold male voice from the darkness to her left.
-Where did you go?
The cold voice startled Alice and made her keys fall from her hand with a startled cry.
She had been thinking about something, there was no light around, and the cab had left as soon as she got out.
Alice looked toward the source of the sound.
There was a small flame in the darkness. And the familiar voice she had just heard would be Kennedy’s, if she had heard it correctly…..
At the thought of Kennedy, it naturally occurred to Alice what she had gone to discuss the engagement tonight.
After having lost all night, Alice had had enough of this feeling. She tried to calm herself, bent down to look for the keys she had just left.
But a person was quicker than her and picked up her keys.
-Why aren’t you answering me?
Alice froze.
In the dim moonlight, Alice reached for the keys in her hand, -Thanks, I just left with some friends.
The keys were taken from her. Her soft fingers brushed her palm unconsciously.
For a moment, Kennedy didn’t know what he was thinking, but he wanted to grab her hand and keep it.
But when he froze, Alice had already taken the key and opened the door.
Kennedy watched her silently, put out the cigarette in his hand, and followed her inside.
After a few steps, Alice realized she was being followed and stopped.
-Why?
-It’s too dark. I’ll walk you upstairs.
Alice didn’t know how to answer him.
In fact, she wanted to ask him why he found her at this hour. And hadn’t he gone to discuss the engagement? Wasn’t it ironic to come looking for her after the discussion?
In the end he didn’t say those words and moved forward in silence.
Soon they reached the front of the house and Alice looked up at him, -I have arrived.
In the darkness, Kennedy’s eyes seemed brighter than the moon, and he stared at her in silence. Then he asked, -Won’t you invite me to your house? I want a drink of water.
Alice was speechless.
Did he ask her to come into his house? How strange!
Alice remembered what she had gone to do before coming here tonight. She bit her lip and replied, -It’s too late. It would be inappropriate.
-Haha.
Kennedy let out a low laugh. He took a step closer to her and Alice could feel his breath around her neck.
-Then tell me, what’s inappropriate?
As he spoke, his breath brushed her neck, tickling her. That’s why Alice took two steps back to avoid him.
Kennedy seemed about to move on. At once Alice opened the door in fright, stepped inside and turned on the light.
-Sit down, I’m going to fix you a glass of water.
Following her, Kennedy went in and closed the door. He was pondering how to explain tonight’s events to her.
“Would it give her the wrong impression if I actively explained? Or would I wait for her to ask me and explain? Well, that might work.”
After Alice gave Kennedy some water, there was silence between them again. It was late and quiet.
Kennedy took a sip from her glass and waited for Alice to ask her question. But after finishing her glass of water, the woman remained silent.
Soon the glass was empty.
Alice looked up and reminded him, -It’s over, sir.
Kennedy was silent.
A bit annoyed, he reached up and tugged at his suit tie, -I’m still thirsty.
-Good,” Alice nodded her head. Then I’ll pour you another glass.
He picked up the glass and returned to the kitchen for water, moving slowly.
Kennedy saw the new glass of warm water in front of him. This time Kennedy didn’t drink it slowly, because he was very upset. He picked it up and took a few big gulps.
The water slid down his throat.
Then he looked up and saw the woman sitting down. Her eyes were calm and she looked very weak and tired.
This made Kennedy even more irritated, and he suddenly slammed his glass down on the table.
Alice, who had been sitting quietly, looked at him startled, but then quickly withdrew her gaze.
-You, don’t you have any questions for me?
At last Kennedy could not resist asking.
Alice finally twitched her lips as if she had something to say, but then shook her head after a moment’s thought.
-Nothing. It’s late. You have to go back.
Having said that, she heard a chuckle from Kennedy. She raised her head and saw that he was looking at her with a mocking look.
Such a look made Alice angry.
-It was he who had gone to talk about the engagement, but he had said nothing to her. And he wanted her to ask?
-What could he ask? And in what capacity?
