When Lolita left, Alice was alone in her chair for a while.
It was true that she didn’t want to get too involved with Lolita, and she was tired.
She had been busy every day since Kennedy’s accident, and the last few days she hadn’t stopped looking for ways to get closer to him.
Still, she felt satisfied.
Now, he was by her side. She was tired and needed a break.
Judging by today’s interview, she had a 50/50 chance of getting the job.
After a while, when the interviewees had left, Alice slowly got up and headed for the elevator.
She walked slowly because she had nothing else to do. She just had to wait at home for the notice.
She planned to buy something to eat at the nearby supermarket and then go home to cook.
As she walked, Alice felt that something was wrong. When she looked up, she realized she was in front of the President’s, or Kennedy’s, elevator.
She was speechless.
-Shit,” Alice said secretly.
Then she turned around and walked away to avoid running into Kennedy.
But she had only taken a few steps when she heard what sounded like keys.
Why were there keys here?
Alice turned curiously and saw a tall man walking toward her. His figure was straight, his features handsome, and his deep gazes were fixed on the girl’s face.
And so, without warning, the two men’s eyes met in mid-air.
One second, two seconds, three seconds….
Alice averted her gaze and turned away.
-Stop.
She heard a cold voice and Alice stopped as if by magic, biting her lip in disgust.
“What’s going on? I just avoided him, how can I meet him here again?”
She thought the interview was close to being a success. But after her meeting with Kennedy, Alice felt that the chances of succeeding in the interview had suddenly diminished.
He was the president of the Charles Group, and if he didn’t agree, she couldn’t become assistant secretary.
“Should I run, or explain it to him?”
Anyway, Zain had explained to her that day, saying that Alice had mistaken him for someone else. If Alice said it again, would he believe her?
Feeling the man behind her getting closer and closer, Alice tensed.
-Turn around.
It was then that Alice realized her voice was even hoarser than before.
Was it the after-effects of the injury?
Alice became distressed, then slowly turned to look at Kennedy.
Those eyes were exactly the same as she remembered.
But this time, she didn’t cry or feel sad, she just ached for that man.
Why?
Kennedy narrowed her eyes as she watched the woman who made her feel strange but hung up on.
She showed different emotions every time she saw him.
Alice realized that she had inadvertently shown emotion by looking at him, and greeted Kennedy with a new expression.
-Hello.
Alice was so nervous that she even stuttered a little.
She was already very calm.
-What’s the matter? -she asked.
-What kind of question is that! You couldn’t talk to me the other day, so you came to see me at work? And you took my special elevator?
-No!
-I’m sorry, my brother explained to you what happened, maybe because I was too excited and you didn’t hear me clearly,” she hastened to explain. Now I apologize to you, I’m sorry. I mistook you for someone else.
Kennedy was speechless.
She stepped forward and approached Alice.
-Really?
Alice stepped back slowly to avoid Kennedy.
All she had to do was reach out and hug this man.
But he didn’t know her anymore.
She couldn’t do that!
Alice nodded slowly as Kennedy watched her.
-I’m sorry I said those things to you the other day because I mistook you for someone else. But I really didn’t mean to.
-Do you have proof? -Kennedy wasn’t going to stop, he maintained his stance, “How can I be sure it wasn’t a trick to get to me?
Alice was speechless.
She thought, “What are you thinking, you think he was trying to hit on you?”
Kennedy beat her to it.
-If you were really wrong, why are you here now?
-I’m here to…
How was I supposed to explain?
Alice bit her lip and didn’t answer. If she said she was applying for a job as an assistant secretary, he would think she was coveting it.
But if she didn’t, what would she do if she became one?
-For what?
Alice was still thinking about how to answer when Kennedy asked again. Her deep voice seemed to have a magical quality.
Alice then told him what she wanted to do.
-The interview.
Hearing this, the handsome man raised an eyebrow.
-And the position?
-Assistant secretary.
After saying this, Alice quickly covered her mouth and looked at him with wide eyes, horrified.
He had spoken the truth.
Indeed, Kennedy’s eyes grew even more complicated and, from his expression, Alice knew Kennedy was questioning her motives.
-I’ve just finished my interview and I don’t know if I’ll get the job yet… -Alice tried to explain.
