Vincent looked hesitant as he began, “This morning, Mrs. Hans went to the police station with your brother for the interrogation. Later on, she dropped the lawsuit, which means you won’t be accused of kidnapping.”
Cristofer asked, “Apart from kidnapping, what else did Victor do to frame me?”
“He also committed burglaries. He stole medicine, groceries, and clothes. Strangely, he stole a wedding dress, too. I can’t figure out why he took the wedding dress. Is he planning to marry Mrs. Hans? That wedding dress is the priciest one in the store.”
Cristofer disagreed, shaking his head, “He didn’t steal the wedding dress.”
“It wasn’t him? Then who did it? Mrs. Hans?” Vincent asked.
“It was me,” Cristofer admitted calmly.
Vincent’s eyes widened in shock, “What? Mr. Hans, you…”
Cristofer clarified, “The wedding dress is in my old hospital locker. Ask Ron to go there and fetch it for me.”
Vincent nodded, “Alright, I’ll call Ron right away. The wedding dress is worth two hundred thousand dollars, while the other stolen items aren’t as valuable. If we return it to the store, you’ll only face a minor charge and avoid jail.”
Cristofer ordered, “Don’t return it to the store. Go to the wedding dress shop, settle the bill, and then have Ron bring the dress to me.”
Vincent could probably guess what Cristofer was thinking and wanted to say something to persuade him. But seeing Cristofer like this, he thought it was more important to solve the problems first, so he just said, “Okay, I’ll do it right now.”
Then, Vincent looked at Cristofer’s handcuffs and said with frustration, “Mr. Hans, I’m starting to regret my choices. I should have convinced you to listen to Ron. Ron knows all about what happened between you and Mrs. Hans when you were Mr. Mysterious. He knows who she really is and why she was with you.”
Cristofer just smiled faintly, waved his hand, and replied, “You go on with your work.”
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and someone entered. Cristofer turned to see the newcomer and jokingly asked, “Are you here to check if I’m alive or to make fun of me?”
“Both,” Geoffrey replied in a teasing tone as he walked into the room with his cane, glancing at Cristofer’s legs. “Well, now you’re in the same boat as me. If Nelson finds out you’re also disabled, he might just stand up from his wheelchair in anger and try to beat me to death.”
Cristofer chuckled without getting upset and asked, “Tell me, where did you find Victor?”
“You’ve misunderstood Nelson this time. Victor approached Nelson himself, claiming he could help. Nelson just wanted to use him to break you and Miss Hudson apart, and he offered Victor millions of dollars as a reward. But he didn’t expect Victor to be so greedy, wanting to kill you and take the entire Hans family’s assets.”
Cristofer sneered, his expression darkening. “I won’t let him succeed.”
Raising an eyebrow, Geoffrey asked, “Do you have a plan to deal with Victor?”
“Yes, but… I’m trying to figure out how to protect the innocent,” Cristofer replied.
Understandingly, Geoffrey nodded and said, “I see. It’s a tricky situation, especially with Miss Hudson involved.”
Cristofer then smiled at him, asking, “Mr. Field, is our deal still on?”
“Of course. What do you need me to do? Smoke Victor out?”
“I’ll deal with Victor. You just need to protect Estelle and her mother.” Before Geoffrey could say anything, Cristofer continued, “I know you have the ability to protect them well. Your men are so capable that they even knew how many properties Nelson has given me. It’s just a piece of cake for them to protect two women.”
Hearing his words, Geoffrey burst into laughter. “Sure enough, I can hide nothing from you.”
“I don’t care what you want, so I didn’t bother to expose you before,” Cristofer quickly snapped.
Geoffrey then heaved a long sigh and said, “I have never expected that we two would cooperate.”
“We have different goals, but by cooperation, each of us can get what we need. So why not?” Cristofer shrugged his shoulders.
“You’re right. Hope we can get what we want soon.”
Two days later, the police came to the hospital again.
“Hunter Hans, since you have compensated the stores for their losses, the stores decided not to sue you. From now on, you are a free man again,” the police said as he removed the handcuffs on Cristofer’s wrist.
“Okay. Thank you,” Cristofer said, moving his stiff wrist.
“Besides, we didn’t find any information about you in the population registration system. You need to register your information as soon as possible.”
“Got it.”

Later, Eva and Vincent came to visit Cristofer.
When Eva saw Cristofer lying on the bed weakly, the rims of her eyes turned red. Then she helped Cristofer sit up with Vincent, saying, “Mr. Hans, although I once said that you were a selfish capitalist and would get your retribution, I didn’t expect that my words would work. I shouldn’t have said those words.”
With a wave of his hand, Cristofer shook his head, indicating that he was okay.
“Mr. Hans, don’t worry. We didn’t let that Fake person interfere with the company’s affairs,” Eva continued.
“Then who’s dealing with the company’s affairs these days? You and Vincent?”
“No, it’s… Mrs. Hans,” Eva said in an embarrassed tone.
Hearing this, Cristofer was a little stunned and deeply frowned.
Eva quickly explained, “You have transferred the shares of the company to the three children. Since they are still underage, Mrs. Hans is managing the company for them as their guardian. She has been very busy these days.”
“What about Victor?”
Hearing Cristofer’s question asking about Victor, Eva was pretty annoyed as she vented, “Victor just lazes around in your office all day. It’s annoying to see him there, honestly.”
Cristofer asked, “Didn’t he want to take control of the company?”
Shaking her head, Eva replied, “Nope. He simply eats snacks and plays games in your office daily. Maybe he knows it’s unlikely Mrs. Hans would let him run the company, so he didn’t ask for anything. He just does whatever she tells him to do like he’s content being her puppet.”
Cristofer understood, saying, “I see.”
Eva then lowered her voice and added, “Mr. Hans, when I arrived, Mrs. Hans wanted me to tell you she has her own reasons. She plans to explain everything when you return. She hopes you’ll take care of yourself. If she needs your input on company matters, she’ll ask. Also, she mentioned the kids and her eagerly waiting for you to return home every day.”
