“Estelle, who’s the woman talking to you?” Impostor Mr. Mysterious suddenly asked.
“Don’t you recognize her voice?” Estelle replied.
“I… I can only recognize your voice, not any other woman’s.”
“It was Rebecca.”
“Rebecca?”
“Yes, she was worried about me and came to pick me up,” Estelle explained, taking a deep breath. “You’re not in a good mood right now, sir. I think you need some rest. I’ll contact you after Christina’s operation.”
“How soon will you contact me?” Impostor Mr. Mysterious asked.
Estelle replied, “… I don’t know. It depends on Christina’s condition.”
“Estelle, I’ll give you three days. If you still don’t come to see me after that, then I will…” Impostor Mr. Mysterious paused and let her hear the wind outside by sticking his hand out of the window.
Estelle understood his implied threat and felt her heart racing.
“Could you hear that? The wind is strong outside. If you abandon me too, I’ll jump from here.”
Before Estelle could respond, the call abruptly ended.
Rebecca, overhearing the conversation, realized it was the fake Mr. Mysterious who had called. She asked, “Was that the fake Mr. Mysterious on the phone?”
Estelle confirmed, “Yes. Rebecca, did Justin tell you that this Mr. Mysterious is an impostor?”
“Yes,” Rebecca confirmed. “Estelle, don’t you find it strange that this fake Mr. Mysterious suddenly appeared right after you and Cristofer announced your relationship at Grandpa Gary’s birthday party? It seems like he wants to prevent you from being with Cristofer.”
Estelle pondered this and responded with confusion, “But, Rebecca, you didn’t see him just now. He looks exactly like Mr. Mysterious. His voice is identical, and he knows so much about Mr. Mysterious and our past together. If he’s not Mr. Mysterious, then who could he be?”
Shaking her head, Rebecca admitted, “Estelle, you’re smarter than me. I have no idea who he might be.”
Rebecca then drove Estelle to the Roberts Real Estate Group. Upon arrival, they were informed by Justin’s secretary that he was not present.
Concerned, Rebecca inquired, “Where is he? He told me to meet him here.”
The secretary replied politely, “It appears that something urgent has come up with Mr. Hans. Mr. Roberts left hastily and instructed me to inform you to go to Mr. Hans and Miss Hudson’s former marital home.”
“Thank you,” Rebecca responded promptly.
“Did he mention what happened to Cristofer?” she asked.
“No, but Mr. Roberts appeared quite serious. I suspect it’s a significant matter,” the secretary replied.
“Understood. Thanks again,” Rebecca said and quickly escorted Estelle out of the office. She then drove at a rapid pace to the previous marital house where Estelle had resided alone for four years.
On the front lawn of the villa, they spotted a black MV Agusta motorcycle. Upon entering the villa, they found Justin waiting for them, seated on the living room sofa.
Rebecca was anxious and quickly walked over, “Justin! What’s going on? Tell Estelle right away!”
With a somewhat serious expression, Justin directed his gaze at Estelle, a blend of emotions in his eyes, and said, “There’s no need to rush. Miss Hudson, it would be best if you went to see Cristofer first.”
“Is something wrong with him?” Estelle asked anxiously.
“You’ll understand once you see him,” Justin replied.
Estelle nodded and made her way upstairs to the bedroom. Rebecca tried to follow, but Justin intervened.
“Let them have some privacy for their conversation. We can wait downstairs,” Justin suggested.
“But…”
“Listen to me, okay?” he insisted.
“Okay…”
When Estelle reached the second floor upstairs, she noticed the bedroom door slightly ajar. Gently, she pushed it open, intending to enter. However, before she could step inside, she overheard Cristofer’s pained groans, and his voice filled with discomfort.
“Why are you still here? I told you I’m fine. Don’t worry. Remember what I just said. Meet me behind Mount Cloud in the evening three days from now.”
Pushing the door open fully, Estelle entered the room and asked, “What do you and Justin plan to do behind Mount Cloud?”
Cristofer, leaning against the head of the bed, looked surprised when he saw Estelle. He quickly covered himself with the quilt up to his shoulders.
“I thought you weren’t coming back tonight. What brings you here?” he asked.
Ignoring his question, Estelle asked, “What happened to you?”
“Me? I’m okay,” Cristofer replied with a smile, trying to appear relaxed. “Why do you ask?”
“Why aren’t you staying at Hans’ Residence? Why are you here?” Estelle asked.
“I just wanted to be alone for a while, so I came here. I promise, I’m really fine,” Cristofer explained.
Estelle approached and sat on the edge of the bed. She noticed the smell of disinfectant and iodine drops on the floor. Without hesitation, she threw over Cristofer’s quilt.
“Estelle, don’t…” Cristofer wanted to stop her, but it was too late.
His left arm was wrapped with a thick layer of gauze through which blood was seeping.
“Did your arm get injured again? What happened?” Estelle asked.
Reaching out to pull the quilt to cover his arm, Cristofer said, “I hurt it by accident. It’s not serious. I’ll be fine in a few days.”
“He is talking nonsense.” Justin’s voice suddenly came from the door. Walking into the room, he sighed and said to Estelle, “The doctor said that his arm was seriously injured before, and it was a miracle that he could recover despite the sequela. But this time, his arm was hit hard three times, and he was more severely injured. Even God can’t cure him.”
Hearing this, Estelle was stunned. “… What do you mean?”
“His arm is completely injured now.”
Estelle’s mind went blank when she heard Justin’s words. “Who hurt him? Is it Mr. Lopez or someone else?” she asked.
“I don’t know. You may ask him about it,” Justin said with his arms folded, keeping frowning.
Estelle then turned to look at Cristofer.
With a faint smile, Cristofer said gently, “It doesn’t matter if I’m injured. Are you planning to seek revenge for me?”
“Absolutely!” Estelle replied impulsively. “Tell me who hurt you, and I’ll find a way to make them pay for what they did!”
“Estelle…”
“Was it Mr. Lopez who hurt you? How could he do such a thing? That’s a serious crime! He may be powerful, but I can report him to the authorities and make sure he faces the consequences!” Estelle said angrily.
Cristofer chuckled and gently patted her hand. “I appreciate your concern, but there’s no need to go that far. You can go now. Don’t waste your time on me. Mr. Mysterious is waiting for you.”
“Cristofer!” Justin exclaimed, but Cristofer interrupted him.
“Let’s end the topic,” Cristofer said. Then he turned to Estelle and continued, “I’ll keep my promise. Since Mr. Mysterious is back in your life, I’ll let you go and give you my blessing. I’ll explain everything to Grandpa. Don’t worry, Estelle. You can be with Mr. Mysterious now.”
