It was getting dark, and the temperature began to drop. Cristofer took off his coat and handed it to Estelle. “Put it on in case you catch a cold.”
“No, thanks,” Estelle refused.
“I know you only love Mr. Mysterious and don’t want to be too intimate with me. But Estelle, your health is the most important now. Don’t make yourself get sick. York hasn’t signed the liver donation agreement. You still have a long way to go.”
With her mouth tightening into a thin line, Estelle took his coat over and wrapped it around herself. Then she felt the warmth of Cristofer’s coat and smelled the faint scents of smoke and alcohol. She thought, ‘No wonder your voice sounds like Mr. Mysterious! You smoked again, didn’t you?’
Cristofer then dialed the number of Dr. Stewart and then handed his phone to Estelle.
“My psychiatrist’s name is Dr. Stewart. You can consult her about any mental problems. Take your time. I’ll wait for you nearby. Don’t worry; I won’t eavesdrop on you,” Cristofer said gently, then turned around and walked away. After a few steps, he stopped under the big banyan tree not far away and looked into the distance thoughtfully with his back to Estelle.
“Hello, Mr. Hans?” Dr. Stewart’s voice came from the other end of the line, drawing Estelle’s attention back to the phone.
“Hello, Dr. Stewart. I am…”
“I think I may know who you are,” Dr. Stewart’s cheerful voice greeted her.
“What?” Estelle was stunned.
“If I’m not mistaken, you are Mr. Hans’ ex-wife.”
Hearing this, Estelle was surprised and then replied to her politely, “Yes, I’m his ex-wife. My name is Estelle.”
“Hi, Estelle,” Dr. Stewart said in a gentle voice, “Are you with Mr. Hans now?”
“No, no, no. I’m not with him. We didn’t get remarried,” Estelle explained quickly.
“Estelle, you don’t have to rush to clarify your relationship with him. I was just asking if you are in the same place now. Although I don’t know what happened between you two, I could guess something from Mr. Hans’ words and reaction when we talked before. Don’t worry. As a psychiatrist, I’ll adhere to my professional ethic of keeping my patient’s privacy a secret. You can trust me.”
Holding the phone in her hand, Estelle responded softly, “Okay. Dr. Stewart, I have something to consult you about.”
“Go ahead, please.”
“Do twins have telepathy?”
Hearing the question, Dr. Stewart thought for a while and answered, “Well, whether twins have telepathy has been controversial in academic circles. There have been many examples showing that twins may have telepathy. For example, a pair of identical twin sisters got the same scores in their college entrance examination. But I can’t give you a definite answer. I can only say there is such a possibility.”
“Then is it possible that a man knows by telepathy where his twin brother has been or what his twin brother has experienced?” Estelle asked.
Dr. Stewart immediately knew what Estelle was referring to. She said, “Mr. Hans has told you that he dreamed about the top of Mount Cloud last night, right?”
“Yes. He also told you about that?” Estelle asked back instead of answering her question.
“Yes. He called me and told me about his dream this morning and asked me to help him go to the top of Mount Cloud to see if the scenery in that place is the same as that in his dream. He also drew a picture of what was in his dream. When I reached the top of Mount Cloud, I found that the scenery in Cristofer dream was similar to what’s in the picture,” Dr. Stewart informed her.
Thinking about Estelle’s previous question, she asked, “Estelle, did you mean that Mr. Hans has a twin brother, and he learned about the top of Mount Cloud through telepathy with his brother?”
Biting her lower lip, Estelle said, “I was just speculating. This is the only explanation that makes sense. After all, Cristofer has never been to Mount Cloud.”
Dr. Stewart then asked, “Estelle, I have another thing to ask you about.”
“Okay, go ahead.”
“Has Mr. Hans’ brother ever been to a place where there is a huge tree full of pinky-white flowers?”
Hearing this, Estelle was shocked and couldn’t utter a word for a moment.
“Estelle? Estelle?”
“I… I’m listening. Yes, he has. The tree is a Malus Halliana tree. It’s very big and beautiful,” Estelle murmured.
Dr. Stewart tutted and said, “I’ve been a psychiatrist for many years, but it’s the first time I’ve seen twins sharing memories. It’s unbelievable.”
“Dr. Stewart, is Cristofer still struggling mentally?”
“Since I’ve known him, he’s been in poor mental health. He’s often irritable, depressed, and suffers from insomnia. His mental state is highly unstable. However, this morning, he told me he had a good night’s sleep. I believe it’s because of you,” Dr. Stewart explained.
Estelle forced a bitter smile and remained silent, thinking, ‘What a coincidence. Both Cristofer and Mr. Mysterious suffer from insomnia.’
“Miss Hudson, from what I’ve observed, Cristofer has dealt with mental issues for quite some time. What could help him isn’t medication but you. As his doctor, I truly hope you can assist him. Even if you no longer wish to be with him, please treat him kindly to prevent his condition from worsening.”
“What will happen if his condition gets worse?” Estelle asked.
“It’s hard to say. If his condition gets worse, he may hurt himself or even commit suicide.”
Estelle was stunned, saying, “Okay, I got it.”
After ending the conversation with Dr. Stewart, Estelle hung up the phone. When she turned around and looked in the direction of the tree, she found that Cristofer was not where he had been just now. She looked around and then saw him standing in the open space in another direction.
Then Estelle walked over quickly. Hearing her footsteps, Cristofer turned to face her and asked softly. “Did you bury the baby’s ashes here?”
In front of them was a flat gravel ground where there was no digging trace. Estelle clearly remembered that she had buried the urn of the baby here.
“How did you find it?” she asked.
“I didn’t look for it. My intuition guided me here,” Cristofer said, “And when I walked here just now, I suddenly felt sad. So I guessed that you buried the baby’s ashes in this area.”
Hearing this, Estelle was a little surprised and thought to herself, ‘Blood relationship is so amazing. Cristofer can even feel where I buried Mr. Mysterious’ baby.’
“Yes, I buried her ashes here,” Estelle said, “It’s quiet here, and it’s the place that is closest to the sky in Hadale. The stars in the sky will keep her company at night, and she will not be lonely.”
