When Estelle heard this, her heart skipped a beat, and she suddenly realized that she had underestimated Alexander, who had been laughing and joking with them. She had thought Alexander was just chatting with her and didn’t expect that he had suspected the relationship between her and Cristofer since the two of them entered the villa. And every one of Alexander’s questions was a trap for her.
“Cristofer said that he pursued you for a long time before. But we all know that he is a super workaholic and stays in the company almost every day. He has no time to do such a thing as going after a girl at all,” Alexander continued and then shifted his gaze to Cristofer.
“So, Cristofer, Star is not your wife. To cooperate with me, you asked her to act with you and fool me,” he said firmly in English.
Cristofer then realized that he was too careless. ‘No wonder Alexander suspected me. So many things have given me away,’ he thought helplessly.
At this time, Gary said anxiously, “Alexander, what are you talking about? Estelle is my granddaughter-in-law. Why should Cristofer lie to you on such a thing?”
Alexander’s interpreter then lowered her head and interpreted Gary’s words for him in a whisperer.
With a suspicious expression, Alexander looked at Estelle and said, “Estelle, I want you to tell me the truth. Your eyes are clear. It is said that people with clear eyes are sincere and honest. I believe that you won’t lie to me.”
The next moment, all the others looked at Estelle, including Cristofer.
Not used to being stared at by so many people, Estelle couldn’t help clenching her fists uneasily. Then she nodded and said seriously, “I’m indeed the granddaughter-in-law of the Hans family. I swear that I’m telling the truth.”
After she said that, Gary was overjoyed and laughed. But Cristofer’s face was slightly darkened, and he was apparently lost in thought.
As for Alexander, he rubbed his chin thoughtfully without saying anything, wondering whether Estelle was telling the truth or not.
Seeing Estelle look at him calmly with her eyes full of sincerity, he thought for a while and said with a smile, “Since you have said so, I believe you, Estelle.” Then he changed the topic. “I heard that Hadale’s Hot Chicken is very delicious. I’ve wanted to eat it for a long time. Can you cook it?”
“Yes, I can. I’ll cook it for you,” Estelle nodded quickly. “What else would you like to eat? Just tell me.”
Alexander then looked at the interpreter next to him.
Taking his hint, the interpreter said, “Poached spicy slices of pork, spicy potato chips, and fried meat with pepper. Is it convenient for you to cook these dishes?”
“Yes. Um… Can Alexander eat so many spicy foods?”
The interpreter replied to her with a smile, “Yes. Don’t worry. He loves spicy food.”
With a hesitant look, Estelle said, “May I change the fried meat with pepper to another dish? My husband has stomach problems and can’t eat spicy food. If all the dishes are spicy, he will starve tonight.”
Hearing this, the interpreter nodded with a smile and interpreted her words for Alexander. Alexander then agreed to Estelle’s proposal and was more convinced that Estelle was Cristofer’s wife because she knew Cristofer well and was considerate toward him.
‘It is so difficult to act in front of Alexander,’ Estelle thought silently.
“Okay. Let’s have another dish then,” the interpreter said.
Estelle nodded and said, “Okay. I’m going to prepare dinner. It’ll be ready soon.”
After saying that, she walked to the kitchen as fast as she could, not wanting to stay in the living room anymore. When she entered the kitchen, she breathed a sigh of relief, then opened the fridge and took out the food ingredients she needed.
As soon as she closed the fridge, the kitchen door was pushed open, and the interpreter came in and said gently, “It will be tiring for you to prepare dinner for so many people by yourself. Let me help you.”
Estelle wanted to refuse her, but on second thought, she didn’t do that.
‘Maybe you’re not here to help me but to try to know if I’m really Cristofer’s wife by talking with me. Even if I say I don’t need your help, you will still stay here with me rather than go back to the living room, right?’
“Okay, thank you,” Estelle nodded slightly.
The interpreter then washed her hands and skillfully broke the eggs into the bowl.
“My name is Belle,” she introduced herself.
“Belle,” Estelle called her name. “Good to meet you. My name is Estelle.”
“It’s a nice name,” Belle said, smiling.
“Thank you. My father gave me the name.”
“Your father must love you very much to give you such a nice name.”
“Yes, he loves me the most,” Estelle confirmed.
“Did he enter the church arm in arm with you on your wedding day?”
The next moment, Estelle’s hand, which was cutting pineapple, froze. “He… He has passed away for many years.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Estelle smiled at her. “Why did you choose to go to work in Africa? Does your family approve of that? Africa is so far away from our country.”
“Because Alexander paid me a high salary. As for my family, they don’t care where I am or what I am doing,” Belle shrugged and said, “What should I do with the eggs now? Mix it with cornflour?”
“Yes.”
With that, Estelle explained the whole procedure of cooking the dish.
Hearing the complex procedures, Belle couldn’t help saying, “Oh my God, it’s so troublesome to cook this dish.”
“It’s not as troublesome as you think,” Estelle said with a smile, “I often cooked this dish before.”
“You often cooked it before?”
“Yes,” Estelle replied shortly, adding, “Cristofer has stomach problems, so I can only cook non-spicy dishes for him. Besides, he is picky about food. So, it’s not easy to prepare food for him.”
“Then what dishes do you usually cook for him?” Belle asked curiously.
“I’ve tried to cook almost all non-spicy dishes for him. He likes eating fish. I can cook fish with more than twenty different flavors and…”
Estelle suddenly stopped in mid-sentence. “Um… Am I talking too much?”
“No, no, no. To be honest, I was a little suspicious about the relationship between you and Cristofer just now. But hearing your story, I’m sure that you two are a real couple. Actually, there are many dishes you can choose to cook, but you choose a dish with such complicated procedures. Only when a woman cooks for those she loves, especially her beloved man, will she be willing to give so much time and energy to cook?”
