Getting the answer from her silence again, Cristofer said, “The reason must have something to do with Mr. Mysterious.”
Hearing his statement, Estelle was a little surprised. “How do you know that?”
“Every time I ask you questions about him, you will fall into silence,” Cristofer explained, and then he added, “Just now, I asked you if you two slept in the same bedroom; you fell silent and didn’t answer me.”
“I did sleep in the same bedroom with Mr. Mysterious. But we were very busy every day and didn’t have much time to spend with each other. Forget it. It’s unnecessary for me to explain it to you,” Estelle subconsciously explained to him but then felt there was no need to do so.
As soon as she finished her words, she heard a squeal of brakes, and then the car stopped abruptly, nearly tipping her out of her seat.
After the car was stopped, Estelle’s first reaction was to look at the two children to ensure they were safe. Fortunately, the children were both in the child seats with their seat belts fastened.
Seeing that they were fine, Estelle breathed a sigh of relief and said to Cristofer unhappily, “The children are with us. Could you drive carefully?”
Cristofer quickly turned to see if the children were okay.
After confirming that they were fine, he shifted his gaze to Estelle with an evident mixture of feelings and asked, “You mean you have never got laid with Mr. Mysterious?”
Biting her lower lip, Estelle asked, “Does it have anything to do with you?”
“Hahaha!” Cristofer’s face suddenly lit up with joy when he thought of a possibility.
“You were with him for such a long time, but you two have never got laid. Is it because he can’t do that?”
‘Gosh! Cristofer, grow the hell up! I’ve had a child with Mr. Mysterious before. But unfortunately, I lost her. Never mind. I won’t argue with you on this matter. After all, it’s over between you and me. And I really don’t give a damn about what you think of the relationship between Mr. Mysterious and me.’
Still, Estelle was upset that Cristofer judged Mr. Mysterious like that. Then she said, “Could you watch your mouth and show some respect for him?”
Cristofer nodded, “Sorry. I mean no offense.”
“Then can you just drop the topic? The kids can hear us,” Estelle said, shaking her head.
“Okay, fine. Well, Star, why did our relationship become like this?” he asked, feeling a sense of loss.
“Maybe it’s because of fate,” Estelle answered, smiling bitterly.
“Do you still hate me? Will you hate me forever?” Cristofer asked again.
“I don’t even know how long I can live. So, I can’t answer your question,” Estelle snapped back.
“So, you mean maybe you will hate me until the last moment of your life?” Cristofer stubbornly asked again.
“Life is short. Just let go of the past and enjoy your life. Countless people envy your current life. You should cherish it. Besides, your business is growing rapidly, and tens of thousands of employees are working for you. Thinking about your work is more important than thinking about our relationship, Cristofer.”
Beep! Beep!
Beep—
Suddenly, they heard a string of angry and impatient blows of car horns.
It was rush hour. Cristofer suddenly stopping his car just now had caused a traffic jam, and the drivers in the cars behind them were unhappy about it.
“Let’s go. Don’t keep others waiting,” Estelle urged him.
Nodding, Cristofer started the car and pulled away quickly.
They suddenly fell silent, and the car became quiet as well.
Seeing that the two children were also silent, Estelle frowned slightly and reminded Cristofer, “Don’t talk about those topics in front of the children in the future.”
Thinking that she was blaming him, Cristofer was slightly annoyed, so he raised his eyebrows and deliberately asked, “What topics?”
“Topics about… You know what I mean.”
“I don’t know what you mean,” Cristofer snapped quickly.
“Why are you so childish?” Estelle asked helplessly.
“I’m always like this. It’s not the first day you have known me.”
Estelle didn’t bother to talk to him anymore.
Cristofer’s behavior made her think about when he was in high school. At that time, he was childish and overbearing, just like what he was just now.
Thinking about this, Estelle felt it was funny and couldn’t help smiling.
When Cristofer was in high school, he was a straight-A student and was famous and popular in the school. He was full of youthful enthusiasm, bursting with vitality, and somewhat rebellious.
When they were in love, he made her feel like he was the gentlest man in the world. His voice, tone, and expression were very gentle when he talked to her.
Alas. Time changed everything. Cristofer is different from before.
His employees will be surprised if they know that their cold, ice-like, and distant boss used to be a sunny boy.
“Here we are,” Cristofer said to Estelle, bringing her back to the present.
When Estelle opened the door and was about to get out of the car, Cristofer gently pulled her arm, motioning to her that he had something to tell her.
Nodding, Estelle sat back in her seat and waited for him to speak.
“Uncle Luke called me and said that Grandpa has been better than before. He asked me to take you and the kids to visit Grandpa on Saturday.”
“Shall we make it on Sunday?”
“You have an appointment on Saturday?” Cristofer asked.
“… Yes.”
Cristofer’s face was slightly darkened again when he heard this. “With whom? Tim?”
“No,” Estelle said helplessly, “It’s Rebecca. She’s a staff member of the TV station now and is working on a new TV program. We have an appointment to meet at the TV station on Saturday. And I want to try to look for a liver donor for Christina through the TV program.”
Cristofer’s expression softened when he heard this.
“Okay. I’ll tell Grandpa we’ll go to visit him on Sunday. I’ll come to pick up you and the children on Sunday morning,” he said.
After thinking for a while, Estelle nodded.
Then she asked, “How is Grandpa Gary now?”
“He’s much better but still not in a good condition.”
“Then spend more time with him, will you?” Estelle asked gently.
“Okay.”
Estelle then unfastened the seat belts for Yohan and Yvonne and helped them get out of the car.
“Yohan, Yvonne, say goodbye to Dad,” she said, holding their hands.
Yvonne waved goodbye to Cristofer while Yohan winked at Cristofer secretly.
Yohan then quickly asked, “Dad, didn’t you promise Yvonne that you will tell her a story tonight? Why are you leaving now? Won’t you coax her to sleep?”
