“But I’ll tell Yvonne stories every night, which means that I will also need to stay in the hotel every night. The suite you are staying in is small, and there are not enough rooms.”
Room 0826 was a business suite, and its three bedrooms were all small.
Yohan was a boy, while Yvonne was a girl. As Yohan grew up, sleeping in separate rooms was better for him and Yvonne.
Three bedrooms were just enough for Estelle, Aurora, and the children to live in, and there was no extra room for Cristofer.
While Estelle was thinking about what to say to refuse him, Cristofer asked, “Are you off duty?”
“Not yet.”
“Wait for me. I’ll pick you up.”
“No, thanks. I…”
“Estelle,” Cristofer interrupted her immediately, and a bitter smile appeared on his face. “I didn’t mean anything else. I just think that if I go to pick you up, the children can see you earlier.”
Hearing him call her name in a husky voice, Estelle was stunned. “What did you call me?”
Upon hearing her question, Cristofer was confused.
‘I called you Estelle just now. Is there anything wrong with it? I used to call you like this.’
“Cristofer, what did you call me just now?” Estelle asked again.
“I’m sorry,” Cristofer said.
“Why do you apologize?”
“I should call you Star rather than Estelle.”
Estelle was speechless and thought, ‘Cristofer, it seems you didn’t understand what I mean. Never mind.’
Just now, when Cristofer called her name, his husky voice and gentle tone were the same as those of Mr. Mysterious, and she almost mistook him for Mr. Mysterious again.
After thinking for a while, she decided to ask the question she wanted most.
“Cristofer, may I ask you a question?”
“Sure. Go ahead,” Cristofer urged her gently.
“Um… Were you the only one who went to the cemetery to visit your parents’ graves that day?”
Cristofer was stunned and then asked, “You mean I should take someone else with me? Who? Miss Wilson?”
“No, I didn’t mean that. Have any other people visited the cemetery to visit your parents’ graves these years?”
“Uncle Luke and Grandpa.”
“Is there anyone else apart from them?”
Not knowing why she asked such a question, Cristofer was a little puzzled. But he still patiently answered her, “Except us, there should be no others who have ever been there to visit them.”
“Is there really nobody else that has gone to visit their graves?” Estelle asked again.
“Who else do you think would go to visit their graves?” Cristofer, somewhat puzzled, asked her too.
Thinking of something, he said, “You mean Gretchen? She’s in prison now. I won’t let her visit my parents’ graves even if she’s not in prison. She’s the murderer who killed my parents.”
Hearing his answer, Estelle nodded and didn’t say anything.
She thought, ‘Cristofer, it seems that you still have no idea that you have a twin brother.’
“Star, what would you like to know? Why don’t you just ask me directly? It’s pointless to beat around the bush,” Cristofer said.
“Nothing,” Estelle replied and then changed the topic. “I’m going to your company to pick up the children. I’ll be there in about half an hour.”
“I’ll go to pick you up with the children. Just wait for us at your company,” Cristofer responded, “I happen to have some updates about looking for a liver donor for Christina to tell you.”
“Okay…”
So many years had passed, and Cristofer was still the person who knew Estelle the best. He knew how to make Estelle unable to refuse him.
About half an hour later, Estelle received a call from Cristofer.
“Star, we’ve arrived. We’ll wait for you downstairs. Take your time.”
“Okay,” Estelle replied. Then she packed up her belongings and went downstairs with her handbag.
When she left the company, Cristofer, who had been standing by the car and waiting for her, opened the car door for her.
Meanwhile, Estelle headed straight for the rear door and got into the back seat to sit with the children.
“Mom, I miss you so much!” Yohan was always like the sun, which could give her warmth.
Seeing this, Yvonne said in a childish voice. “Mom, I also miss you so much!”
Sitting between the children, Estelle held the children in her arms happily, and the tiredness from work suddenly disappeared.
“Did you behave well today?” she asked them in a gentle voice.
“Yes!” Yvonne said and nodded repeatedly.
Then she stretched her short and fat little finger, pointed at Cristofer, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, and continued, “But Dad didn’t behave well today. Mom, you told us that we shouldn’t lie to others. But Dad lied to Yohan.”
Cristofer, who was about to start the car, smiled helplessly when his daughter suddenly “betrayed” him.
He said to her dotingly, “Didn’t you say you would keep it a secret for me, Yvonne?”
Estelle’s face darkened slightly.
Then she seriously told Cristofer, “As parents, we should set good examples for our children. How could you lie to Yohan?”
“I…”
Before Cristofer could say anything, Estelle continued, “Cristofer, it doesn’t matter that you are inexperienced in caring for children. Practice makes perfect. I believe you will learn to take care of them as long as you spend more time with them. But as their father, you shouldn’t have lied to them.”
“Estelle, why don’t you ask Yvonne what I lied to Yohan about?” Cristofer said and sighed helplessly.
Hearing this, Estelle looked at Yvonne.
Yvonne giggled and then said in a low voice, “Dad lied to Yohan that the game only has three hundred and fifty levels.”
“Yohan is so interested in playing the game, so I downloaded a PC version for him and let him play it on my computer. But the game has too many levels. If he kept playing the game, it would take him a long time to clear all the levels. I was in a hurry to pick you up, so I lied to him that there are only three hundred and fifty levels, and he has cleared them all,” Cristofer explained.
Hearing this, Yohan, who was nestling in Estelle’s arms, was surprised and frustrated.
He asked a bit angrily, “Dad, you lied to me? So, I didn’t clear all the levels?”
“You indeed didn’t clear all the levels. But Yohan, which is more important between the game and your Mom?”
Immediately understanding what he meant, Yohan answered, “Mom! Mom is the more important!”
“That’s right. Your Mom was waiting for us. It’s not appropriate to keep her waiting too long. So, we should pick up your Mom at that time rather than continue playing the game.”
“I see,” Yohan nodded immediately.
