The policeman nodded and smiled, “Yes. Miss Hudson, you are really something. I’ve never seen a young lady so calm when facing such a complicated matter. But are you really going to sue your uncle?”
“My husband taught me a valuable business aspect, he said that without destroying the old, one cannot build the new. If I say yes to my uncle’s unreasonable request and give him money this time, he will be more greedy and blackmail me again and again. Therefore, in case of any possible troubles in the future, I’d better root out the situation,” Estelle explained casually.
The policeman chuckled and commented, “That’s right. If you agree to his request this time, he will definitely blackmail you again in the future. Your husband is really wise.”
“Yes, he is awesome.”
“Do you need me to call him and ask him to pick you up?”
“No, thanks. I can go back to the company by myself.”
“Is he busy?”
“He…”
“I’m not busy.” A familiar voice came from nearby, husky and melodious.
“Star, I’m here to pick you up.”
“Mr…”
When Estelle was about to call Tim’s name, Tim blinked at her, motioning her not to say anything. Then he cleared his throat and asked the policeman, “Where should I sign my name?”
“Here,” the policeman motioned, pointing at the signature column of a document.
“Okay.”
Tim signed his name and then pulled Estelle out of the police station.
Outside the police station, Estelle saw the familiar MV Agusta again.
The perfect combination of pure black and sharp lines made the motorcycle look cool.
Tim handed a helmet to her and urged her, smiling, “What are you waiting for? Let’s leave here quickly. If the police find out that we are not a couple, they’ll suspect us, and we won’t be able to leave by then!”
Holding the helmet in her hands, Estelle asked with a slightly apprehensive expression, “Mr. Roberts, may I ask how you knew I was at the police station?”
“I saw it on the news. At this point, it’s not just me who knows, but a lot of others are aware as well,” Tim remarked with a dismissive snort and a roll of his eyes.
“Unfortunately, despite your diligent work to set the company on the right track over the past years, York’s disruptive behavior today has destroyed all your efforts,” he added.
Estelle felt a little frustrated. “Maybe… I’m not capable enough to manage a company.”
“You are born an artist,” Tim said in a firm tone, “I saw the ring you designed when I was in Lanster. It is amazing. People have their advantages and disadvantages. God is fair to everyone. He has given you great talent in jewelry design, so he won’t give you talent in other aspects. Moreover, if you are too perfect, others will be jealous of you and make things difficult for you. God is blessing you by making you imperfect.”
Estelle was amused by his words.
Tim had always been sharp-tongued. It was rare for him to comfort others like that.
Thinking about this, Estelle said, “Mr. Roberts, thank you for helping me and comforting me.”
Straddling the motorcycle, Tim put on his helmet and honked twice to urge her, “If you are really grateful to me, join me for a ride to a certain destination.”
“Where do you want to go?”
“You’ll know it later.”
Standing still, Estelle didn’t say anything.
Tim tilted his head and offered her a charming smile. “What’s the matter? You’re not keen on being my passenger, are you? Worried I might speed on the motorcycle?” he teased.
“No,” Estelle replied, donning the helmet and taking a seat on the back of the motorcycle. “I’m not afraid. In fact, the faster you go, the better.”
Tim gritted his teeth and said, “Okay. Don’t regret it.”
“I won’t regret… Ah!”
More than three years had passed. Estelle once again experienced the excitement brought by a motorcycle.
Tim rode his motorcycle fast. Regardless of the heavy traffic on the street, he overtook and changed lanes many times, leaving the cars behind one after another.
Several minutes later, the motorcycle was stopped at the foot of Mount Cloud.
“This is…” Estelle was stunned.
“Mount Cloud. Have you ever been here?” Tim asked as he pointed at the twisting mountain road ahead, “Do you dare to take a gamble?”
“Take a gamble?”
“Yes,” Tim swiftly uttered, “Estelle, you put too much pressure on yourself. Don’t you feel tired of living like this? If Rebecca hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have known that you came back for a child unrelated to you by blood.”
Hearing this, Estelle was stunned for a while and then asked, “What did Rebecca say to you?”
“She told me everything when she got drunk the other day.”
Estelle then took off her helmet and got off the motorcycle.
Estelle expressed in a serious tone, “Christina is important to me. I must save her.”
“Why must you save her? Do you have any relationship with her parents? Howard is a scum, and Christina’s mother is also irresponsible. She didn’t want to pay the medical fees for Christina, so she abandoned Christina. Humph. That woman is so smart. She knew that Rebecca was kind-hearted, so she put Christina at the gate of Rebecca’s house,” Tim snorted and rolled his eyes.
Mount Cloud was in the suburbs. It was December, and it was cold when the mountain wind blew.
“I won’t bother Justin and Rebecca with anything about Christina. Don’t worry. I can take good care of Christina,” Estelle asserted, fixing her hair disheveled by the wind and tucking a few strands behind her ears.
“Come on. The one you should take good care of is yourself. By the way, what are you going to do with your company? Do you need me to…”
“No,” Estelle refused him without hesitation.
Hearing her response, Tim, who had a short temper, stood up and stared at her. He then growled, “I haven’t finished my words!”
“I know what you are going to say.”
“Are you going to let your uncle ruin the fruits of your father’s painstaking efforts?”
“Of course not,” Estelle said and shook her head.
“What other option do you have to save the company from this current situation if you won’t allow me to help you? It seems you’re lacking funds at the moment, aren’t you? Have you heard that Cristofer plans to collaborate with a gem supplier in Africa? If they finalize their collaboration, he’ll gain a monopoly over all the gemstones from Africa in the future!” Tim’s voice dripped with hatred as he spoke.
He continued, “Cristofer is incredibly ruthless, determined to eliminate any opportunity for other jewelry companies to survive. However, fortunately, I’ve learned that the African gem supplier is rather eccentric, preferring to collaborate exclusively with married men. Since Cristofer isn’t married yet, he hasn’t been able to secure a partnership agreement.”
