Soon, his eyes were fixed on one of them. He pointed at the wedding dress and said, “You may try on this one.”
Mila then gathered up her skirt and walked over.
When the shop assistant took the wedding dress chosen by Cristofer off the hanger and showed it to Mila, she was amazed, and her eyes brightened.
She quickly exclaimed, “It’s so beautiful.”
The wedding dress was pearl white and embroidered with red petal patterns from the waist to the hemline. From a distance, the wedding dress looked like a waterfall on which countless rose petals fell, looking breathtakingly extravagant.
“I’ll try on this one,” Mila’s smile widened.
“Okay.”
However, the shop assistant said with an embarrassed look, “I’m sorry, Miss Wilson. This dress is not your size.”
“Then, do you have one in my size?” Mila inquired, looking upset.
“Yesterday, a couple who also liked this wedding dress bought the one in your size. The one in my hand now may be too large for you.”
Mila liked this wedding dress very much, but the one in front of her was one size larger for her. She was less than 1. 6 meters tall. If she wore this wedding dress, she would look shorter.
Mila was quite fond of this particular wedding dress, yet the one before her was slightly larger in size. Standing less than 1. 6 meters tall, she worried that wearing it would make her appear even shorter.
“Could the dressmaker alter it to fit me?” Mila inquired.
“Certainly. However, altering the wedding dress will require at least a week. With your wedding scheduled for this weekend, there might not be enough time for the alterations,” the shop assistant informed.
Experiencing a twinge of disappointment, Mila ran her fingers over the floral patterns on the gown, her eyes reflecting a hint of resentment.
“We can wait,” Cristofer interjected unexpectedly. “Seeing that my fiancée likes this wedding dress, I am inclined to fulfill her desire and have her wear it at our wedding. I’ll reschedule the wedding. Kindly request the dressmaker to expedite the alterations.”
“Hold on,” Mila quickly interrupted, “Could you ask someone to try it on and let me have a look? If it doesn’t suit me, then I’ll choose another one so that you don’t need to alter it, and my wedding won’t have to be postponed.”
The shop assistant’s eyes swept around the store, and then she said with a pleasantly surprised look, “Miss Wilson, why don’t you ask your friend to try it on? The dress doesn’t fit any of the shop assistants in our store, but it’s in the right size for your friend. You may ask her to try it on.”
As she spoke, she looked in a direction.
Hearing this, Cristofer followed her eyes and saw that Estelle was helping Eva slowly walk toward the rest area.
Then he squinted at them, seeming to think about something.
Eva was frightened when she saw him and couldn’t help shivering. With a fake smile, she greeted him, “Hi, Mr. Hans.”
Looking at her feet, Cristofer asked with a frown, “What’s wrong with your feet?”
“I sprained my ankle. It doesn’t matter. I’ll be fine after having a rest. I won’t delay my work! I promise!” Eva explained.
Without saying anything, Cristofer nodded slightly and then shifted his gaze to Estelle, who was standing beside Eva. His face had no expression, and no one could tell what he was thinking about.
Eva then immediately explained to him, “Mr. Hans, this is Miss Hudson. It was she who kindly drove Miss Wilson and me here.”
“She drove you here?” Cristofer raised his eyebrows and asked. “When did she learn to drive?”
Seeing Cristofer, Estelle was both speechless and helpless, thinking, ‘Didn’t Eva say Cristofer wouldn’t come here?’
Just now, when she saw Cristofer, she thought it was Mr. Mysterious coming closer.
Only after overhearing his exchange with Mila did she realize she had misidentified Cristofer as Mr. Mysterious.
On their way to the airport, Mr. Mysterious had died three years ago and wouldn’t return to her anymore.
He had hidden his identity meticulously, revealing it only to a handful of people. She couldn’t even arrange a proper funeral after his death.
During that time, it was Rebecca who relayed to her the news of Mr. Mysterious death.
“Estelle, the rescue efforts were in vain, and Mr. Mysterious has gone. Justin is at the hospital to arrange for his funeral. I’m deeply sorry for your loss…”
At the thought of the painful past, Estelle felt heartache.
“Ah… It hurt.” Eva winced, feeling a sharp pain in her arm.
It was not until Estelle heard her voice that she came back to the present. Then she quickly loosened her grip on Eva’s arm and apologized, “I’m sorry. I was in a daze just now.”
“It’s alright,” Eva responded with a dismissive gesture. “Miss Hudson, are you acquainted with Mr. Hans?”
“…”
“I didn’t mean to ask about your privacy. Miss Hudson, just forget about my question.”
“Yes,” Estelle replied, nodding. “We were once a relative.”
‘Relatives? Used to be relatives?’ Cristofer snorted, and a mocking smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
When Estelle admitted she knew him, he was wondering how she would explain their relationship. But he didn’t expect she would say that they used to be relatives.
“I see,” Eva said with a smile. “You helped me for the sake of Mr. Hans, right? Miss Hudson, Mr. Hans’ wedding is this weekend. Did you come back to Hadale to attend his wedding?”
“Ahem!” Cristofer frowned and cleared his throat.
Eva quickly caught on and fell silent.
Standing nearby, Mila let out a sigh of relief and thought to herself, ‘So they were relatives in the past.’
However, she still felt something was wrong.
‘Since they were relatives, why did Mr. Hans put this woman’s photo in his wallet? Is it because they are in a good relationship? If so, I should develop a good relationship with her.’
‘I shouldn’t have made things difficult for Eva in the hotel. Will this woman tell Mr. Hans about it?’ Mila thought, regretting her rudeness.
Plucking up her courage, Eva managed a smile and addressed Estelle in a softer tone, “Miss, I recently learned about your relationship with Cristofer. I appreciate your help today. May I know how I should address you?”
Estelle, who wasn’t particularly interested in engaging further, responded in a monotonous tone, “You can address me as Miss Hudson.”
“Alright, Miss Hudson. It’s nice to meet you,” Eva replied courteously.
Estelle simply nodded and offered a polite smile without saying anything further.
