Estelle offered a helpless smile and replied, “What are you talking about? I’m occupied with work and looking after the children day in and day out. I hardly have the time to even think about finding a boyfriend.”
“Why, then, do you insist on staying overseas?” Rebecca suddenly recalled something and lowered her voice, asking, “Is it because of… Mr. Mysterious?”
Upon hearing the familiar name, Estelle’s hands, resting on her thighs, momentarily stiffened.
“I remember that the anniversary of his death is very close to your father’s. It’s just a few days apart. Did you return this time because of…” Rebecca’s voice trailed off.
When Estelle arrived at Randaw three years ago, she got the news that Mr. Mysterious was dead.
Understanding Estelle’s reluctance to return to Hadale over the past few years, Rebecca was aware that the unresolved grief from Mr. Mysterious’s death played a significant role. Hadale held a trove of painful memories for Estelle.
“Estelle, there’s a renowned church in Hadale. It’s said that anyone who makes a wish there has their wishes come true,” Rebecca suggested.
Rebecca sincerely wished for God’s blessings to grant Estelle a future filled with happiness and well-being.
“Alright,” Estelle agreed.
Eventually, Cristofer’s car was towed away, and the traffic jam was cleared.
Without delay, Rebecca stepped on the gas and quickly drove off. However, they were still twenty minutes late.
In an airport convenience store, Yohan was purchasing milk for Yvonne, who had expressed her hunger and desire for milk.
“Yohan,” Yvonne called out, her hand firmly gripping Yohan’s hand as she gestured towards a certain direction. “Mommy is over there.”
Seeing Estelle and Rebecca, Yohan paid the bill in a hurry, picked up Yvonne, and ran toward them.
He shouted excitedly, “Mom, Auntie Rebecca, I miss you so much!”
“Wow! Yohan, you are more handsome than before!”
As soon as Rebecca saw Yohan, her eyes lit up with joy.
She added, “When you grow up, countless girls will definitely fall for you and want to be with you.”
Hearing this, Yvonne pouted and put her arm around Yohan’s neck.
“Yohan is mine!” she said in a sweet voice.
Yvonne was so cute that Rebecca became more excited when seeing her.
Reaching out her hands to her, Rebecca said, “Come on, sweetheart. Let me hug you! You are so cute!”
Yvonne was a little scared and turned to look at Estelle.
Observing Estelle’s affirmative response and smile, Yvonne extended her arms, allowing Rebecca to lift her up.
“Estelle, they’re really good-looking, especially Yohan. He’s like a younger version of that man!”
“That man? Who are you referring to, Auntie Rebecca?” Yohan asked in confusion.
Rebecca hurriedly explained, “Well… I’m referring to a popular star. He’s so handsome that women scream with excitement when seeing him.”
Yohan scratched his head and asked, “Auntie Rebecca, is he a star of our country?”
“Yes. You have been abroad, so you may not know him,” Rebecca responded quickly, smiling.
“Am I as handsome as him?”
“Yes,” Rebecca nodded calmly, “You will be more handsome than him when you grow up.”
Yohan scrutinized Rebecca and remarked solemnly, “Auntie Rebecca, your micro-expression gave you away. The man you mentioned isn’t a celebrity. When someone lies, they tend to glance down to the left subconsciously. You should be cautious of your micro-expressions during negotiations; otherwise, your opponent will catch on easily!”
His insight left Rebecca momentarily speechless.
She playfully reached out and pinched his cheek, smiling as she said, “I see, little boss. We haven’t seen each other for a few years, and you’ve become much sharper.”
Observing their interaction, Estelle couldn’t suppress her laughter and suggested, “Alright, it’s getting late. Yvonne needs to sleep early. Let’s head back.”
Rebecca then drove Estelle and the children back to their hotel.
Knowing in advance that Estelle and Aurora were returning, Rebecca had generously arranged accommodations for them, reserving a room in a hotel.
However, Estelle was taken aback when she realized that the hotel was none other than the Grand Hotel of Hadale City. Arriving at the hotel the previous day, she experienced mixed emotions.
To appreciate Rebecca’s kindness, she went ahead with checking in and agreed to stay temporarily. She planned to change hotels in a few days, though.
Before long, the car gradually halted at the entrance of the Grand Hotel of Hadale City.
Parking wasn’t Rebecca’s strong suit. Despite her best efforts, she struggled to position the car in the correct parking spot.
Seeing this, Estelle suggested helplessly, “Let me do it for you.”
“You can drive?” Rebecca was a little surprised.
“Yes, I learned to drive abroad. After all, driving the children to school every day is more convenient.”
Estelle got into the driver’s seat and parked the car quickly and skillfully.
“My God. Estelle, you are awesome!” Rebecca marveled at Estelle’s parking skills.
Once the car was parked, Estelle switched off the engine and exited the vehicle.
“Let’s go,” she announced.
Thankfully, the room that Rebecca had arranged was situated on the eighth floor instead of the twelfth.
Aurora had been waiting in the room with a mixture of anxiety and anticipation. The moment she spotted her two grandchildren, she rushed forward.
“Yohan, Yvonne, are you both okay? How could you travel here on your own without informing us? Didn’t your mother instruct you to wait for us at home?” Aurora inquired, her brows furrowed in concern.
“Grandma, I miss you so much!”
Yohan stepped forward and hugged Aurora.
The next moment, Aurora’s serious expression immediately softened. She hugged Yohan and patted his back gently, saying, “Don’t do that again, okay?”
“Okay, Grandma,” Yohan said and nodded. “I just miss Dad, so I want to return to see him.”
“But your Dad has…”
“I know he’s out there fighting the bad guys. He’ll be back soon, won’t he? He’s been away for so long, and I really miss him a lot,” Yohan expressed.
Aurora couldn’t help but sigh and replied, “Are you hungry? How about I make some noodles for you?”
At that moment, Yvonne, who had been standing nearby, chimed in sweetly, “Grandma, I don’t want noodles. I want eggs!”
“But we don’t have any eggs here. I promise I’ll get you some eggs tomorrow, alright?” Aurora told her.
Yvonne pouted, her stomach audibly growling in hunger.
“Yvonne hasn’t eaten anything the whole day. The airline meal was awful,” Yohan informed.
“I’ll head out to buy eggs right now,” Estelle responded, reaching for her handbag.
She continued, “There’s a supermarket near the hotel. I’ll go there to grab some groceries.”
“It’s quite late already. I’ll come along,” Rebecca offered.
Estelle shook her head, saying, “Don’t worry. I’m familiar with this area. I won’t get lost. You must be tired from the long drive. You can rest here. I’ll buy some meat and cook up a tasty meal for you.”
“Yeah! Estelle, I want to have the chicken soup you cook!”
“Got it.”
Estelle then walked out of the room and went downstairs by elevator.
Upon reaching the first floor, the elevator doors gradually slid open.
Her heart skipped a beat the next moment when she saw the man standing just outside the elevator.
