Upon hearing this, Cristofer felt a pang of anxiety. “If I return to my previous state, will my current personality disappear?” he asked.
“It’s difficult to say. The manifestations of this condition can differ from person to person. But Mr. Hans, I must inform you that each personality represents a distinct individual within you. Although they all belong to the same person, one may not be aware of their actions when in a different personality or may not even know about the existence of other personalities.”
“I understand what you mean. So, if I revert to my original personality or develop a new one, I’m likely to forget what happened between Estelle and me when I’m in my current personality, right?” Cristofer clarified.
Dr. Cruise shrugged helplessly and said, “As a psychiatrist, I can only treat patients based on their condition and can’t predict their future outcomes. However, I can assure you that taking medication regularly can help stabilize emotions and contribute to better mental health.”
Hearing this, Cristofer nodded, deep in thought and with a tight frown.
Seeing him like this, Dr. Cruise smiled and offered comfort, “Don’t be too pessimistic. If you can maintain your current mental stability, you’ll be able to spend your life with Miss Hudson as you are now. I noticed when I saw you both at the welfare house that she would protect you, shielding your left arm with her body from time to time, which clearly shows her care for you.”
At that moment, Cristofer’s serious expression softened into a smile.
“She’s always protective of me. Back when we were in school, someone kicked and hurt my leg. Since then, she never allowed that person to come near me,” Cristofer reminisced.
Dr. Cruise couldn’t help but chuckle. “You both must have had a joyful youth.”
“Yes, those were truly happy days, the best time of my life. Unfortunately, we can’t turn back time,” Cristofer said with a hint of regret.
“But fortunately, you can still be with her in another persona,” Dr. Cruise encouraged. “Let go of the past and focus on being good to her in the future.”
“Alright,” Cristofer said, nodding firmly. “Dr. Cruise, I’ll be leaving for abroad soon. Could you please provide me with a list of the medications I need to take? I’ll buy them accordingly in the future.”
Dr. Cruise was not surprised by the request. “No problem. When are you planning to leave?”
“I’m still involved in a lawsuit. Once this case is successful, I’ll leave immediately,” Cristofer informed.
Dr. Cruise replied, “Alright. I’ll prepare the list of medicines and instructions as soon as possible and send it to you.”
“Thank you, Dr. Cruise. Take care,” Cristofer bid farewell.
“You’re welcome.” Dr. Cruise chuckled and added humorously, “Mr. Hans, I hope we never meet again because that would mean you’re in good health, and my medical skills are exceptional.”
Amused by the remark, Cristofer responded with a smile, “Okay. Let’s hope for that outcome, then. Goodbye.”
It was nighttime, and there were only a few people around. Dressed in black, Cristofer tried to remain inconspicuous.
As he walked out of the hospital and was about to mount his motorcycle, his phone suddenly rang.
“Hello?”
“Mr. Hans, I’ve sent Miss Hudson and the kids back to Rose Garden,” Ron said on the other end of the line.
“How are they? Are the children all right?”
“They are fine. But you have pissed Old Mr. Hans off today.”
Hearing Ron’s concern, Cristofer replied with a helpless expression, “The fewer people who know about my plan, the better. Once Estelle and I settle down abroad, I’ll explain everything to Grandpa. I feel guilty for making him worry about me. Ron, after I leave with Estelle, please take care of my grandfather and Uncle Luke.”
“No problem. But Mr. Hans, are you sure you don’t need me to go with you? Or should I accompany you with Vincent?” Ron asked.
“I won’t take him with me. The Hudson Group is in disarray, and I need him to stay here and assist Estelle in managing the company,” Cristofer explained.
Taking a deep breath, Ron spoke sincerely, “I understand. Mr. Hans, I wish you all the best.”
“Thank you,” Cristofer said gratefully.
“By the way, today, Miss Hudson mentioned that Geoffrey seemed to have known your address at Rose Garden,” Ron remarked.
“Uncle Nelson is quite capable, so it’s not surprising he knows where I live,” Cristofer replied.
“But Geoffrey went to your apartment and took Yvonne away today!” Ron’s voice quivered with concern, “It was Geoffrey’s subordinate who brought Yvonne to the Hans’ Residence.”
“What?!” Cristofer’s expression darkened immediately as he questioned further.
“Mr. Hans, Mr. Lopez knows that you won’t change your mind no matter what he does to persuade you. He wants to frighten Miss Hudson so that she may initiate the breakup with you,” Ron explained with lingering fear.
“No,” Cristofer stated firmly, his face tense, “Uncle Nelson did that to threaten me. He wants to show me that if I don’t comply with his demands, he might harm my children and Estelle at any moment!”
Just then, Cristofer noticed a man slowly approaching him from the side.
When Cristofer saw clearly who the man was, he said on the phone, “Stay downstairs and protect them tonight.”
Before Ron could reply to him, he hung up the phone quickly and stared at the man walking toward him.
“Mr. Hans, you are really a people person. You even gave up your bright future just for a woman with cancer,” Geoffrey smirked.
Cristofer straightened his posture, his voice heavy with sarcasm as he said, “It’s quite late, so why did you follow me all the way here instead of staying with Uncle Nelson, Mr. Lapdog?”
Geoffrey chuckled in response, “You’re right. I am indeed a lapdog. I’ve served Uncle Nelson for over ten years, behaving like a fawning dog in his presence every day. However, he always disregards me. He’s willing to give everything to you and never considers giving me anything in return.”
“What’s your point?” Cristofer asked, curious about Geoffrey’s intentions.
“I can assist you and Miss Hudson in leaving here without Uncle Nelson’s knowledge. He won’t be able to find you again,” Geoffrey offered.
Cristofer squinted at him without saying anything.
Geoffrey’s sudden laughter echoed, and he continued, “Having Ron guarding at Rose Garden is useless. Uncle Nelson has deployed numerous men there, and Ron is no match for them. If Uncle Nelson wants to capture Miss Hudson, your children, and the old maid, do you think they stand a chance of escaping?”
