Sophie couldn’t stop smiling even after telling Chris what she saw in the apartment. The air blew her hair wildly as she stuck her head out of the car window. Chris shook his head at how childish she was behaving.
She had almost walked in on her two best friends making out in her living room but instead of being angry, the situation amused her. She remembered the last she caught them half naked and both parties denied everything claiming they only drank and nothing more. But now she has all evidence and they don’t even know. They were so engrossed in the act, they did not even notice when she opened the door.
” You are weird,” he said looking at her smiling face in the mirror.
” I’m not” she squeaked.
” they are adults you know,” he said. She nodded her head and made a funny expression on her face. He sighs.
” I should scold them” She suddenly switched to a serious expression.
” why? Sophie these people are adults” Chris scoffed.
“I don’t have a problem with them making out. But in case you have forgotten, my brother who is a teenager lives in that flat. What if he was the one who walked in on them? They can’t be that reckless” She stated with a fake annoyed tone but he just laughed.
” You are enjoying this too much” he chuckled and she let out a soft laugh.
He swept to a different lane confusing Sophie who knew that was not the way to his mansion. It was like he was going the opposite way.
” Are you getting too old?” She asked him with a grin on her face.
” Hmmm I know where I am going, Sophie. This is the way to my penthouse, not my mansion” He said with dry tone casting her a side glance.
” for a moment I thought old age was catching up to you”
” And I wouldn’t know the way to my own house? Besides I’m just thirty-five. I’m not old and I look too handsome for age” He said with a grin that matches hers. She started pouting immediately.
” Now we are acting cocky. Are we?”
” No, I’m not. I’m naturally cocky, that’s why you fell head over heels for me”
” Says who?”
They went back and forth arguing until his phone rang cutting their petty bickering short. It was his mom. Although Matilda Morgan calls him millions of times in a day but never at midnight like that. It must be urgent. He sighs before picking it up.
” Hey, Chris dear” The woman’s cheery voice echoes on the phone as he put the call on loudspeaker. Sophie’s expression turned neutral, free of mischievous glares and grins.
” Mom. Kind of strange you are calling me at this hour. Is there a problem? ” he asked with a slightly worried tone. He hopes nothing is wrong with his daughter.
” There is no problem my son. I have an urgent situation” She said.
” Situation?”
” Yeah. I have an event to attend outside the country from tomorrow till next weekend. I just want to let you know that I’ll be dropping Liya at your Mansion early in the morning. You know I don’t trust my granddaughter with the maids and since she missed you a lot. I figured she could stay with you for a while. ” She explained.
” I will not be in the mansion tomorrow. I took a month off work so I will be at the penthouse for a while. Or I can come and pick her up” He said and Matilda erupted in a series of giggles.
” You are taking a month off work? Because of that young lady? Oh my goodness!” She squealed much to Chris’s displeasure.
” Ma, stop acting as if you don’t know I do this every year. I take a month off to go on a vacation with Liya every damn year” He grunted and Sophie had to muffle her giggles. Mrs Morgan knew how to press her son’s buttons so well it makes her slightly jealous.
” I know but it’s just a little bit suspicious that this vacation manage to start on Sophie’s birthday. You are more whipped than a mocha frappuccino. Damn! It is so nice to see you like this again.” The woman went on and on much to Sophie’s amusement.
” Ma I..” he tried to say something but she cuts him off.
” And when are you going to tell that lovely girl how much you love her? You guys have to get married before I retire from event planning” Matilda whined more prompting Chris to end the call. The car grew silent for a moment.
He cursed under his breath, muttering how much of a big mouth his mother was. He had made the mistake of telling the woman how much he had fallen in love with Sophie and she had made fun of him generously. He wondered what was going on in Sophie’s mind.
” Sophie I..” He started but she place her finger on his lips silencing him for a while.
” Well, this is awkward. Since when?” She sighs deeply ignoring the heat rushing to her neck.
” The moment I lay my eyes on you outside that club. I was curious at first but All I knew was I wanted you at all cost. You were like a tiny grasp at freedom for me after being caged by the woman I loved for so many years. After I broke out of the cage I was forced into, you were the first woman that made my heart beat. It wasn’t normal I know but I couldn’t help it. I thought it was just curiosity but you have been driving me nuts since the day I met you. Everything about you drives me insane, your innocence, your beauty, and your big heart made it so hard not to fall more than I intended to.” His confession made Sophie’s heart explode. If she thought what she felt for him was intense before, she was wrong. What she felt at that moment was like five times more intense than before.
” Sophie ” he called softly expecting no answer from her so he continued.
” I am very proud to say I’m still falling for you each day. More than you can ever imagine and it’s okay if you don’t feel the same. I will understand but like I said the other night, I won’t stop trying to win your heart until you find me worthy because I love you with my all” His voice grew more huskier as he utter each word and each utterance sends shivers down her spine in the most sweetest way possible.
” You love me” She muttered very low under her breath and she repeated it louder and louder until it turned to a full scream of “You love me” with the brightest smile on her face. She stared at him again and repeated herself over and over again. He was taken aback at first but he smiled brightly when he realized the excitement in her tone.
” Ladies and gentlemen! Chris Morgan is fucking in love with me! Yay” Yelling at the top of her voice, she stuck her head out of the car as she repeated the statement. She tucks her head back into the car.
” Say it again,” She said to him as she erupted into a fit of giggles.
” I love you,” He said increasing the speed of the car.
” Again. Louder” She yelled.
” I love you Sophie Harris” He shouted and she burst into laughter pinching his cheeks lightly.
” But do you?” he asked.
” I am more than in Love with you Chris Morgan”
