Sophie turned around to look at the person who cleared their throat. The woman is dressed in an expensive white gown. And on her neck are pearl necklaces matching the Pearl earrings that adorned her ears. The woman looks to be in her sixties, some grey hair stood out of her perfectly straightened hair pulled out in a bun. She wore light makeup that accentuate the beauty that must have driven men crazy in her younger years and the cherry on top is that she looked like the spitting image of Chris.
” Mother”
” Matilda” Chris and Liam greeted at the same time, backing up Sophie’s conclusion that the woman was Chris’s mother. She muttered a hello shyly at the woman who stared at her from head to toe like she is scrutinizing her. She suddenly gave Sophie a warm smile before turning to her son.
” So this is the woman who stole my son’s heart?” The woman said with a smile making Chris squirm in embarrassment. Even though he is that old, his mother always manages to embarrass him like she is doing right now.
” Mother,” he said with a serious tone but the woman ignored him and faced Sophie instead. Chris knew his mother too well, he knew Matilda Morgan is already seeing her daughter-in-law’s potential in Sophie. He knows his mother and Sophie will get along well but he just doesn’t want her to scare the poor girl away from him with her smothering nature.
” The name is Matilda Yours?” The woman asked Sophie who smiled back politely at her.
” I’m Sophie, Sophie Harris,” Sophie said and Matilda nodded her head in approval. She extended her gloved hand at Sophie for a handshake who in turn took it eagerly.
” Nice to meet you Sophie, I hope we get along well in the future,” Matilda said with a cool voice but Sophie could hear the motherly threat in her tone. The tone of another is ready to tear you to pieces if you mess with her son’s heart. But none of that will happen since the relationship between her and Chris is condition based.
” My pleasures Matilda,” she said with an equally cool voice. She took a step back only to find out Liam already disappeared talking to a pretty lady from afar. But Chris just stood there watching the most important woman in his life right now.
” You are such a beauty, I don’t know why my dearest son didn’t introduce you to me earlier” the woman glared at her son who muttered here we go again while rolling his eyes.
” We only met a week ago,” Sophie said surprised by the haste in the woman’s tone.
” And yet he looks at you like you are the most wonderful thing on Earth” The woman cooed.
” Ma can you stop? Sophie and I are just friends” Chris cried out making Sophie’s heart clench a little at the word friend. She was happy when he called her his girlfriend and his reverting to the word friend didn’t sit well with her. But he can’t his mother about the kind of relationship they have she guesses.
” Mama knows better” Matilda clicked her tongue playfully.
” I think I need to talk to Laura Flinn. I might have a wedding to plan” Matilda said moving away from them after dropping such a bomb.
“There’s no wedding anywhere Ma” Chris sighed put trying to get his mother out of her fairytale.
” I didn’t say yours,” she said back moving to the next table where the celebrity event planner Laura Flinn is seated with other women of their age. Sophie wonders what it will be like to be as influential as them at that age. It might happen if she marries Chris but with what he told his mother. She doubts if that dream will ever come true at all.
” I’m sorry about My mom, she can be overbearing sometimes,” Chris said turning back to his beautiful date who replied with a fake smile.
The event started with auctioning, Few art pieces were sold at really expensive prices that Sophie thought they wanted to sell a whole metropolis. She sat there bored out of her mind trying not to think about the process that much. Chris even bought some to her astonishment. He offered to buy some for her but she rejected the offer. She just doesn’t see the entertainment in sitting there and hearing those prices but since the money is going to charity, she relaxed and didn’t object that much.
Not long after, A man dressed in a tailored suit approached their table, The man greeted them politely and Chris excused himself to follow the man to a corner leaving only Sophie there since Liam is still not back.
She suddenly feel pressed and tried to find her way to the restroom. She was successful after asking a few ladies who were not that eager to do so. After doing her business, she let out a breath she doesn’t realize that she was holding. That experience only did well to remind her that she doesn’t belong in that type of world.
Making her way back to their table, she bumped into a wall. She almost fell but a hand reaches out to steady her. She cursed under her breath and looked up only to realize that it wasn’t a wall after but a real-life Calvin Klein model. The man was dressed in a dark blue suit, a few inches shorter than Chris but still tall anyway. His pale blonde hair was cut short and styled to perfection.
” I’m sorry” She muttered shyly but he only offered her a smile.
“It’s okay, it’s my fault. I was too busy on my phone” He said with a deep baritone voice.
“That’s kind of contrasting,” Sophie thought. His face looks so cute and boyish compared to his voice. He is like a piece of chocolate cake. It tasted good but the pleasure might take your soul.
” My name is Brandon. Can I know yours or can I call you mine?” Brandon said smoothly making Sophie blush at his sudden flirty tone. This man has no shame. Not even five minutes after bumping into each other and he was already flirting with her. His vibe is screaming Playboy already.
” I’m Sophie. Is this how you always ask for a lady’s name?” She had to ask him out of curiosity.
” No actually. Just beautiful ones” He said and she nodded not buying his answer but playing along anyway. She started walking towards the table, Chris and Liam are not back yet but this stranger is not leaving her alone instead.
” Has anyone told you that you look beautiful tonight?” he said in that flirty tone again. Now he is trying too hard, she was about to give him a reply when a familiar icy cold voice beat her to it.
” Yeah, I did and that is all she needs to hear Kane.” Chris suddenly appeared out of nowhere glaring at Brandon with chilling cold eyes. Sophie had to gulp. She had never seen Chris look at anyone with such murderous intent since she met him. If looks could kill, Brandon would be buried seven feet deep with his body parts butchered into pieces. If the other man is affected by the threat, he showed no signs of it turning to Chris with a silly smile.
” Chris Morgan? Fancy meeting you here. I had no idea this beautiful lady belong to you?” He said more like a taunt annoying Chris more. But Chris changed his demeanor to a cool one, offering a fake smile at the man in front of him.
” Now you know and you will do well to stay away from her” Chris replied with a warning and the man raised his hands in a mock surrender.
” Good luck getting her to stay away from me” Brandon taunted one more before facing Sophie once again ignoring a fuming Chris.
” Goodnight Beautiful” he blew her a kiss before walking away from their table.
” can’t even leave for fifteen minutes. Some creep is already all over my girl” Chris muttered under his breath, Sophie couldn’t get the rest but she caught the word “my girl” tempting her to ask.
” What was that? He was just being nice” She said and he stared at her with the funniest expression Sophie ever saw.
” Flirting and being nice are too different things, Sophie. No one starts being nice all of a sudden to a beauty like you without a hidden motif” He stated and Sophie had to suppress a smile. So this man is jealous?
” Someone is jealous I see?” Sophie teased.
” I’m not jealous. I’m just regretting a few things I guess” he said awakening Sophie’s curiosity.
” Regret? How?” she asked.
“If I had decorated your neck with my marks instead of buying you that necklace. All this won’t be happening but that’s only a preparation for the future I guess” He said coldly shutting Sophie’s mouth temporarily. She looked at him with wide eyes unable to utter a single word.
“The party is over, we are leaving” Chris declared grabbing her hand and her purse from the table. He leads her away from the party.
” What about Liam?” she asked when they got to the entrance.
” he is a grown man and besides he is probably buried in a girl’s pussy as we speak so we don’t need to worry about him” he replied not slowing down his pace. She is having a terrible time catching up to him being not used to wearing heels.
” Your mother?” she asked again hoping he would slow down.
” We didn’t come here together besides she has her driver,” He said leaving her hand when he got to where his limo was packed. He opened the door for her and helped her inside. He ordered the driver to start driving closing the blinds. Sophie’s breath and heartbeat started a marathon as he stared at her like a beast stalking his prey.
” I think we need to get something clear Sophie. I’m not just your sugar daddy, I own you” he said before claiming her lips in a dominating manner.
” You are mine and mine alone. May God forbid I see you blush in front of another man again, I’m going to take you in front of him so hard it will never leave your mind again who you belong to”
