Chapter 48 I’ll Stay with You

Book:Crush on You Published:2024-5-1

Yaffe shivers all over, “Dad has been doing this business for years, it’s impossible for him to ignore this obvious problem. He has handled so many projects and building designs, he wouldn’t make such a rookie mistake.”
“I don’t believe either, but now every evidence points to him.”
“So dad has already been taken away for investigation?”
Monismith nods weakly.
Yaffe keeps silent for a quite a while, “Mom, why haven’t you told me?”
Monismith opens her month for a bit, then says, “If we told you, you would ask your husband for help. You just got married. I don’t want our son-in-law to get too involved in our family issues, leaving them a bad impression that our family affairs are excessive and giving you a hard time in their family.”
Yaffe feels painful yet warm, “If we can’t handle this issue, we could only ask Quinn for help. If they know after dad’s problem got out of control, they may feel that we didn’t treat them as family at all.”
Monismit sighs, “You have a point. Go back tonight to have a word with him to see what he would say.”
“Dad’s not home. Let me stay with you tonight.”
“Just caught a cold, I’m not that fragile. As long as you don’t offend my eyes, I could live on for another decades.”
Yaffe grunts and takes the dishes back to the dining table.
Although Monismit doesn’t let Yaffe stay, Yaffe still companies her till ten o’clock before driving back to her villa.
It’s close to eleven o’clock when she’s back to the villa.
Quinn is still sitting in the living room dealing with his work with his charming eyes fixed on the laptop on his lap, and slender fingers moving fast upon the keyboard.
Yaffe doesn’t expect he would wait for her. Seeing he is busy, she eases her movements.
After Quinn sends the revised file to the special assistant, he looks up at her, “How is mom?”
“Just a common cold, don’t worry.”
“Good to hear.” Quinn points at the sofa in front of him, “Have a seat.”
She sits down obediently, considering how to bring up dad’s issue.
After a short while of hesitation she says, “Rich Man, I may need your help.”
“Yes?” Quinn responds.
The voice sounds a bit lazy and a bit fascinating.
“It’s my dad. He ran into some problems that I can’t handle.” Yaffe told him the whole story.
Thinking for some time, Quinn says, “That’s also what I intended to say. I’ve been busy taking care of Wiphy and company previously. I just knew it today. I believe in your dad’s integrity, and I’ll get associated men to do more investigations, and won’t let your dad affected.”
Tears begin to well up in Yaffe’s eyes, and almost roll down.
Quinn has known her not for too long, but chooses to believe her and her dad like this.
“Thank you, Rich Man.” Yaffe snuffs and sobs.
“Go upstairs and have some rest. I’ll let you know when I have news, and don’t let mom worried.
“Okay.” Yaffe feels a little embarrassed scratching her head and go upstairs.
Quinn smiles and looks at the girl with a little childishness. He doesn’t fetch out his cellphone until her figure disappears in the second floor.
“Quinn, what’s up in the middle of the night?” Quirico Kong speaks sluggishly with cheers of men and women behind him.
Quinn frowns, “Find a quiet place.”
“Just a sec.” Quirico stands up from the sofa, waving to the woman who intended to pull him back, and walks out of the box, “Now you can continue.”
“Help me find out what’s going on with Yannick Qin. I don’t know much about your circle. Who’s messing with him this time?”
“Oh, I see. Yannick’s got a good reputation in the circle. Someone must have a problem with that for a long time. But unfortunately the one behind didn’t expect you being Qin’s son-in-law.”
“So you knew who the man is?”
“I’m still investigating. Rumor has it that it’s a Ye.”
“Aurelia Ye’s family?” Quinn lowers his voice.
“No, even though Aurelia is dead, she is your sister-in-law anyway. Her family will still look up to yours and won’t be this stupid. I heard it’s a collateral relative. Do you remember the seminar for CCVDs we attended last time? Aurelia’s ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend is called Quaneisha Ye. She may have something to do with this.”
Cold light bursts out of Quinn’s eyes, “I’ll look into this person, you help push things for Yannick Qin, try minimize the impact on his future.”
“Understood,” Quirico wonders, “how is Wiphy? Not shy with strangers now? You see he is willing to join the group conference with you.”
“Got some improvements.”
“That’s good.” Quirico seems to remember something, “By the way, Molly asked me about the relations between you and Yaffe. Seems that she’s still into you.”
“My wife is Yaffe. Should you meet Molly again, just ignore.”
“Ok, as you wish. You go take care of Wiphy.”
Quirico hangs up the cell. He turns around just to see Molly standing behind, “What the… Could you make some noise when walking?”
Molly looks rather pale, “What did Quinn say to you?”
“He wants me to investigate something.” Quirico says. “You’re not fully recovered. What’re you doing here?”
“I’ll go crazy if I keep staying here. Quirico, do you think I don’t stand a chance?”
Thinking of Quinn’s words just now, Quirico feels awkward, “There are plenty more fish in the sea. You could pick another one.”
Molly read between the lines, “Why can’t he forgive me? Sometimes I wondered if he ever loved me. If he did, how can he wipe his feeling so thoroughly? I become like this for the child, and he is not soft-hearted towards me a bit.”
Quirico doesn’t know how to comfort her. In fact he hasn’t been good at getting along with Molly.
Molly seems to be made of water, and can burst into tears at any time, requiring meticulous caring.
No one has this much time to treat her like a goddess.
However, Quirico is not sick of her.
He pats her shoulder, “It’s not good to either side if you keep being like this. Quinn can’t see your sorrow. Get recovered soon. Everyone will get heartbroken some time, just walk out of it.”
After finishing his words, Quirico runs back to the box, fearing that Molly would keep bothering him.
Molly stands in the empty corridor, trembling heavily.
Yaffe tosses and turns all night fidgetily, and finally has some sleep towards daylight.
She rolls out of bed with dark circles under her eyes. Suddenly she comes to realize today is weekend, and then rolls back to bed.
She finally gets up unstably at almost eight o’clock.
Going downstairs, she sees Quinn and Wiphy coming back from exercise.
