“Ann, lend me your phone please.”
“Certainly.” Immediately Ann gives her the phone, “You’re gonna call Little Manager He, right?”
Yaffe’s worry is a bit comforted by the nickname, so she smiles, “Yep.”
“Remember to delete the number, or I’ll give him nuisance calls later.”
Yaffe dials Wiphy’s number with a smile, but she only hears the busy signal. She tries several times, but the result is the same.
She frowns and returns the phone to Ann, saying, “If Dean looks for me, tell him I’m out and will see him later.”
“Your just got injured. Where are you going? I can go for you.”
“No, thanks. Give my words to Dean when he looks for me.”
After saying so, Yaffe leaves the office lamely.
The hurt is obvious and the pain is worse after she walks only tens of metres.
But at the thought that Wiphy’s can’t find her via the phone and he is in a totally strange environment, she can’t help worrying about him.
She walks to the staff apartment building with wounded feet.
When she arrives, she should sweat in early winter.
Many doctors finish their noon break. Some doctor feels confused and asks, “Dr. Qin, what’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing.”
While they are talking, several doctors come downstairs.
“What happens on the fourth floor? I hear a boy screaming.”
“Me too. I can also hear someone throwing something. But nobody answers the door.”
After hearing the words, Yaffe’s face falls, saying, “Dr. Li, I have to upstairs now. See you later.”
Then she runs upstairs, trying hard to ignore the pain from the foot.
She can hear the young voice even one corridor away.
She opens the door with shaking hands.
When she clearly sees the inside, she feels heartbroken.
Wearing the thin thermal underwear, Wiphy stands with bare feet on the floor full of broken pieces.
Several parts of his feet have been cut and bleeding.
Hearing the door opened, Wiphy turns back.
His pinky and delicate face registers terror and grievance. He is unlike 5 years old.
Yaffe steps on the pieces and comes up to Wiphy lamely.
Wiphy looks at her warily and steps back.
Yaffe is afraid he will be hurt again, so she holds his body forcefully and says gently, “I’m sorry, babe. My phone was broken by a patient’s family, so I didn’t receive your call. Are you scared? ”
Wiphy’s fierce struggling gradually stops because of her words.
Yaffe holds him to the bed, checking the wounds. She finds there’re some wounds on both his feet and the back of his hands.
She takes out a mini medicine cabinet from the drawer in the bedside and quickly treats with these wounds.
Seeing Yaffe’s way of walking, Wiphy types on the mini Ipad.
“What’s wrong with your feet?”
Yaffe knows Wiphy is cleverer and more mature than children of his age, so she doesn’t hide the truth.
“This noon a patient’s family made troubles. I got hurt while dealing with it. But it’s nothing serious, so don’t worry about me.”
Wiphy looks at her smile and continues to type on the mini Ipad.
“Why not asking my Dad for help?”
“Asking him to beat that family? The case is neither simple nor complicated. It can be worked out as long as it is properly dealt with.” Yaffe replies with a smile.
She takes his coat and puts on him.
“I still have some work. I’ll call your Dad to pick you up here, ok?”
“Why?” He types nervously.
“Your feet are injured, and they’re easily infected as you are in the hospital. Besides, I haven’t protected you well today, so I need to tell your father in case of his worry.”
Wiphy bends his head. His little finger slides on the mini Ipad, writing, “If so, Dad will detest you.”
“We’re adults. He won’t detest me because of such a small accident.”
“He used to detest a woman.” Wiphy types it but he deletes it soon.
However, Yaffe notices it.
She smiles and says, “Don’t be worried about us. How about carrying you downstairs?”
Wiphy nods, allowing her to carry him downstairs. Yaffe carries Wiphy to her office. Suddenly, she slaps her forehead.
Although her phone is broken, she can make a call to Quinn with Wiphy’s phone. Why does she make such an unnecessary move?
It seems what she broke is not feet but her mind.
She puts Wiphy on the bed. Just then, Anne comes in, saying, “Yaffe, Dean wants you.”
Yaffe says something to Wiphy and then leaves.
When she leaves, Wiphy takes out the mini Ipad and sends Quinn a Wechat message.
Wiphy: Dad, I seemed to make you a trouble by accident.
Quinn: What have you done?
Wiphy: Today Yaffe was bullied by a patient’s relative. Her ankles got sprained and her phone was broken down. Since I couldn’t contact her, I made a scene in her apartment. Then she came to comfort me and I forgave her. However, I happened to say you used to detest a woman because she didn’t take good care of me.
Quinn doesn’t reply this message for a long time.
Wiphy stares at the Ipad worriedly, guessing what is happening to his Dad.
So he types quickly on the Ipad.
Wiphy: If you detest her, please tell her clearly. I’ll marry her when I’m old enough!
Quinn: Go away! How dare you steal her from your Dad at such a young age!
Wiphy: Then what’s your plan? If you bully her or treat her unkindly, I’ll appall you every day!
Quinn: As if you don’t appall me now. Don’t bother me and watch Balala The Fairies.
Reading the reply, Wiphy feels his IQ was looked down upon.
So he turns off the Ipad, starting the cold war with Quinn.
Yaffe has thought she might be scolded and taught a lesson for a whole afternoon by Dean.
However, unexpectedly, Dean just tries to understand what happened at noon and lets her go.
When she arrives at the office, she finds Quinn there.
She glances at Wiphy, guessing it must be him who sends the message to Quinn.
Quinn looks at the limping woman, asking, “Is it serious?”
“Not that serious. I can walk. Send Wiphy home. Kids’ immunity is poor and they’re easy to get sick if they stay in the hospital for too long.”
“I’ll pick you up here. Don’t drive.”
“Ok.”
Quinn says nothing and carries Wiphy away.
Anne looks in the direction of Quinn and Wiphy, getting starry eyed and saying, “Yaffe, I’m green with envy!”
