Wendy feels weird by the King’s words. She feels the King wants more from her… “I promise, your King! I will try my best to make the Majesty recover!” Wendy says without thinking that much. The Empress nods then praises, “Good! If you make the Majesty recover, I will treat you well, young girl!”
“Thank you, my dear Royal Empress!” Wendy thanks them. They stay for a little while then leave back to their royal palace. Zhuge goes to Sung’s medicine, while others leave as well. So Wendy and Lacey now stay alone in the room. Lacey doesn’t move her eyes away from Sung at any minute. Her hands glue with Sung’s hands all the time. She turns to Wendy and asks in grief, “Doctor, you will make the majesty well, right?”
Wendy drinks a sip of tea from her teacup near the China traditional big square table, replying without looking at her, “Yes, I will!” Lacey looks back to Sung, sighs, “As before, he would always get better no matter how many times he got injured. I knew my sister must protect him somewhere…” Wendy feels a little touched, she feels Lacey has changed a little. Lacey sighs then continues, “My dear sister was the Royal Princess Yasmin. She passed away three years ago.” Lacey looks in agony while she says that, which causes Wendy’s attention. She doesn’t worry about Sung that much now, she worries about herself, she feels like everyone knew her real identity after she’s gone.
“I’m sorry to hear that. Princess Lacey, may I ask what kind of woman she was while she’s alive?” Wendy asks, she wants to figure out how they thought about her? Lacey sighs, begins her story, “She’s not that good sister but she saved my Majesty many times, even sacrifices her life… I used to think I love the majesty more than her! While I’m not! Every night I was thinking how courageous she had but I was not! I checked myself did I want to sacrifice my life for the majesty?? Well, I didn’t even know about this simple answer…” She wipes her tears on her cheek, “My sister and I were not close to each other, as we were kids, she always got what she wanted. Such as the love from the King and the Royal Empress, they even gave her the “Royal name” after when she’s at the very young age. It’s not fair. I hated her so much that time deeply. No one cared about me, and my heart to the majesty! Finally, one day, I got my chance from my majesty and I could move into the palace! Later on, he was mad with my sister because of Zoe, so I was thinking he loved me only! Unfortunately, I realized I could never replace her after she died…”
“Do you still hate her, my dear Princess?” Wendy sighs and asks.
Lacey takes a big breath and says, “No! I used to think I hated her, but I’m not. All these three years after she passed away, I couldn’t help thinking about our playtime’s when we were kids. She’s been very nice to me honestly, she’s a good sister to me. The day she died, I felt absolutely scared, I realized I loved her so much, and I didn’t want to lose her at all!” She begins to weep again, “I didn’t know why I feel like that? Until now, even I get the Royal Princess position, I don’t feel happy.”
With her words, Wendy recalls her old memories with young Lacey, how they chased each other in their big garden… she feels sorry for Lacey. “I think… she would be happy if she hears your words today.” Lacey is about to cry, “I hope so, I owed her an apology. If I didn’t tell on her that day, then she… she wouldn’t..” Wendy knows her, if she didn’t tell on her that time, no one would misunderstand her and ignored her. She could remain alive. Anyway, Wendy feels happy that Lacey changes and regrets what she did. It seems that she doesn’t know about her real name, which makes Wendy feel safe.
After a while, Zhuge comes back with his medicine for Sung, following him are some generals. They just came back from the war. They won this time again, and Sung has been branded as “The General” this time. “Did they find the assassin?” Wendy asks to Zhuge.
Zhuge shakes his head, “Not yet. The assassin came from the North country maybe, we didn’t know how many of them have mixed into our guards… General Chen has ordered to watch here, so our majesty’s safe now. Don’t worry.”
Wendy nods and warns, “We better be more attention, who knows how are they gonna slip here again?” A middle-aged general, General Chen, comes forward to check on Wendy carefully, “Who is this woman??”
“Oh, it’s my new doctor. She saved our majesty this time.” Zhuge comforts General Chen. While, he keeps checking due to his job, “And where do you come from, Doctor?” Turning to Zhuge, “Well, Doctor, I do believe you, while that’s my job to be careful with people here.” Wendy smiles and looks into his sharp eyes, “I’m from City Edina, I came here several months ago.”
“Oh, okay. By the way, I heard a famous case from City Edina. It’s about a married woman who murdered her husband and ran away. Did she get caught??” General asks. Wendy shakes her head, “No, I didn’t hear about it. I didn’t pay attention to those cases in my hometown.” Chen laughs, “Oh that’s fine. It happened a few days ago. Have you eaten the bamboo shoot?? I heard it’s delicious!!”
Wendy laughs, “To be honest, General Chen, I’m a foodie! So I eat bamboo shoots a lot around July or August, you may fry or make soup with them, really cool and delicious!”
“Wow, that sounds nice! When I passed your city before, I tried one time with frying. It’s so tasty!” General Chen says with satisfied. Wendy knows he’s testing her, while she doesn’t afraid of his testing. She used to stay there like three years, so she knows everything about City Edina. “Then you may go to that small restaurant near the Crystal river next time, the owner there can make the best bamboo shoots! You must say my name there, then they will give you some delicious Osmanthus rice wine as well! I am a good friend with them!”
“Ok, I will!” He seems less security with Wendy now. Zhuge comes to her and whispers, “Hey, don’t put into heart. He is a nice person, he just did some basic checks.” Wendy laughs back, “I know, I don’t mind at all, Doctor.”
“Let me feed him then, Doctor Zhuge.” Lacey takes the hot medicine from Zhuge then holds Sung up. “Princess, please don’t move him. He has wounds, it’s kind of dangerous for him right now.” Wendy stops her immediately. Lacey frowns, “But how I gonna feed him??”
“Let me help you then, Princess Lacey. I know how to do with him.” Wendy moves to Sung, holding his neck up, making sure his neck is on her soft laps. Lacey hands her the medicine and nods, she doesn’t think that much. She trusts Wendy. Looking him closer this time, she sees his wound clearly. One small wound is on his neck, this point is very close to the aorta, which is seriously danger, it may lead people to die in a few seconds. Wendy takes a deep breath… Such a poor man, what have you suffered while I was not here? Wendy thinks. He seems not calm while he sleeps at all. He skin turns darker now and his face looks sorrow. She takes the spoon and feeds him slowly, one spoon after another.
Lacey feels worse while she can’t help anything here, “I am a useless wife and Princess… I can’t even help him taking the medicine.” She cries and wipes the dark soup run out of his mouth by a handkerchief. “Brother Zhuge said you were amazing, so I feel you can save my majesty, right?” Wendy doesn’t watch her, she feels her emotion is not stabled recently. She keeps repeating the same thing today. “No worry, I will make him recover, my dear Princess.”
After the last spoon of medicine, Sung wakes up suddenly! “Who are you??” His glares look frightened. Wendy moves behind to Zhuge at once. “Sung, you wake up! No worry, she is the doctor in my clinic.” Zhuge explains with excitement.
“I have so many doctors here, why you asked a woman to treat me??” Sung replies with his cold glares. “I will send her out if you don’t like then.” Zhuge replies. Wendy feels a huge heartache without any reason. His cold tone and glares break her heart into pieces.
