“Mr. Clinton!” Abigail shook her head, pleading him to not let out the secret, “Please.”
“Abigail, I…” Bill’s eyes were filled with pain and dissatisfaction, but he had a soft spot for Abigail’s pleading eyes. He turned his head, trying to avoid her puppy eyes.
When Abigail went back to the Caunter’s mansion, Harry was already awaiting her in the living room, he was holding a newspaper in his hand, beating it repeatedly in his other hand, “Abigail, how could you? You asked me to go shopping with you and I was kind enough to do so, but how could you treat me like that? You said you were going to use the bathroom but you went and had a rendezvous with Bill?”
Abigail saw the picture in the newspaper, it was Bill holding her in his arms, walking out of the hospital. But in the picture, the hospital was cropped out and it wasn’t in the background. Hence, it looked like the two were hugging intimately.
She never had thought that the paparazzi were stalking them so closely yesterday, they even managed to take this photo.
No wonder Joshua was able to track her down so fast. Her mouth gaping, she wanted to say something back to Harry, but she was just nodding the whole time Harry was talking to her. She didn’t know what to say and couldn’t remember if she said anything.
Harry was staring at her intensely as she kept her mouth shut.
Annie on the other hand was sitting all relaxed on the sofa as if it was none of her business. But she was obviously pleased with how the situation was unfolding, she was grooving her body and watching the drama from the sidelines.
Harry wasn’t backing down, but he was in a difficult situation, Joshua would definitely reprimand him later. The only benefactor of this situation would be that woman.
“Harry, you can take your leave,” Annie sensed what Harry was thinking about, Harry sweated profusely hearing her asking him to leave, he was on the verge of tears. Annie, however, was as happy as a clam at high tide.
Harry didn’t want to cave in, he shook his head, trying to look pitiful.
Joshua grabbed a handgun, he was already impatient from the beginning, he pointed it at her, “Leave, or else!”
Harry quickly ran out of the mansion, Joshua’s gun was point-blank at Abigail…
Annie was snickering, but she acted as if she was afraid to not look too joyous. Abigail gave up and submitted herself to fate, she put her hands on her abdomen tenderly.
“Yo, brother, grandma wants to meet Abigail. She said she’s going to jump if Abigail doesn’t come to her soon.” Stacy suddenly appeared in the living room and grabbed Abigail by the arm.
“Brother, let her go, or else grandma is going to jump!”
Joshua pondered for a brief moment, to everyone’s surprise, he put down the gun and nodded to Stacy.
“Go!” Stacy urged Abigail to leave, she was out of danger for the time being.
“Thank you,” After she calmed the grandmother down, Abigail sincerely gave her thanks to Stacy.
It was too dangerous, she almost died together with the baby in her stomach.
Stacy snorted and said indifferently, “You think I really wanted to rescue you? I was only trying to rescue grandma, and of course, to avoid you guys from causing me trouble!”
She squinted and looked straight into Abigail’s eyes, “You never saw my brother in action right? He doesn’t even blink when he kills, sends the bullet straight through your heart, sometimes the temple, he is freaking accurate. I’ve seen him in action, he took many lives before and he wouldn’t hesitate to kill you. Nobody stays alive after betraying him!” She stopped after seeing the horror in Abigail’s eyes.
Suddenly she laughed crazily, “Abigail, you didn’t forget that you killed Michelle, right? Keeping you alive and torturing you would be my pleasure, well, let’s say that it is another reason why I decided to save your life!”
Stacy’s cold-blooded words were pricking Abigail’s soul, she was shivering in fear and felt a shiver down her spine! Stacy’s grudge towards her never faded through time, her life in the Caunter mansion was only going to get harder.
She felt lost and dejected.
She touched her abdomen while monologuing to the baby, “My dear baby, I hope you will be able to overcome all hurdles and come to the land of living successfully.”
There was a storm at night, the flashes of lightning were sharp and dangerous. Every flash seemed like it gave the sky a deep cut, bleeding profoundly, over the horizon.
The rain was falling ruthlessly on the tree outside the house as if the sky was letting out its tears uncontrollably. When the lightning flashed, the water on the leaves and the branches looked rogue in the dark, it was as if the tree was bleeding. The tree swayed helplessly in the storm, it couldn’t fight back at all.
Abigail closed her eyes, she couldn’t stand the scene as it felt like she was looking at herself. She was as miserable as the tree in the storm, being devastated by everything in their surroundings.
The doorknob turned, Abigail twitched violently, is it Joshua?
Frightened, she raised her head slowly and looked towards the door. All she saw was a woman’s shadow, the shadow was silent and didn’t turn on the light. It was right then that a bolt of enormous lightning struck, everything in the small room was now visible.
With the help of the lightning, Abigail saw a person that was as alluring as a witch, “Miss… Spencer?”
Annie stared at her cautiously, as if Abigail would run away like a small helpless animal. Abigail quickly turned on the bed lamp.
“I’m here because I know that you are still awake,” Annie’s long and slender arms were behind her back, she was looking downwards at Abigail, as she was sitting on the bed.
Her brows were on point, she raised her brows as she squinted and looked Abigail up and down as if she was trying to guess how heavy Abigail was.
“What… are you here for?” Abigail was surprised by the random visit, her eyes were wide open, they were filled with innocence and puzzlement.
Annie gazed at the sky through the window briefly, she then strutted towards the side of the bed.
“Joshua is back,” Annie looked as if she was just trying to have a conversation with Abigail, but Abigail didn’t like how the conversation started at all.
“I see,” answered Abigail softly, she didn’t think that Joshua being back was something to talk about. If possible, she hoped that he would never come back.
“You don’t wish for his return?” Annie was right on spot about what Abigail had on her mind, her eyes were smiling, it was subtle yet vivid.
Abigail had no reaction, she neither nodded nor shook her head. Her attention was solely on Annie, what was Annie’s intention to drop by in the middle of the night? Did she really just want to let Abigail know that Joshua was back?
“Change rooms with me.”
Annie finally revealed her motive, her sharp eyes peering intensely at Abigail, it was as if Abigail would be pierced to death by her gaze if she said no to the request.
Abigail shivered, she looked around her room. Her room was simple and lacking in decorations, it was the plainest room in the Caunter’s mansion. So why would the fussy Annie want to switch rooms with her?
“What’s wrong, you don’t want to?” Annie frowned, she was getting impatient.
“You…” Abigail declined to comment, she was still wondering about why Annie made such a request.
“Hurry up,” Annie yanked Abigail off the bed and forcefully pushed her towards the door.
“Wait!” Annie suddenly stopped and gawked at Abigail, she looked at Abigail’s pyjama disdainfully. She clicked her tongue and ordered Abigail to change clothes with her.
Annie’s cute little pyjama was tight and exposing, she was proud of her figures and was swaying her body around showing it off to Abigail. Abigail shook her head violently, as the pyjama wouldn’t be able to cover her tummy.
“I’ll… I’ll put on one of my casual clothing,” answered Abigail, she kind of knew what Annie was scheming, and hence she moved her slightly bloated body, she tried to suck in her stomach as much as she could and avoided Annie’s gaze. She pulled out some clothes from the cupboard and proceeded to change them in the washroom.
“Hurry up, such a slowpoke. What’s wrong with changing it here? Ain’t nobody is going to look at you!” Annie was cursing while she took off her pyjama, she flung it into the cupboard and said, “My room is the fifth one from the left.”
She pointed at the door, beckoning Abigail to leave.
“Wait,” she stopped Abigail once again, “Which are your favourite perfumes? Give them to me.”
“I… I don’t use…” Abigail answered honestly. Annie was shocked at first, she then nodded plainly and said, “True, you reek of poorness, you don’t need no perfume. Whatever, hurry up and leave, and don’t let Joshua see you!”
Abigail was unwilling to leave just because Annie told her to, but she was also glad that Annie was going to be there instead of her. Recently, Joshua would come by her room whenever he was back, and he would spend the whole night galloping her body, she was rather worried about her health because of it.
She tried to protect the baby in her tummy as much as she could, but she was still worried that something would happen to her baby.
Annie’s room stank heavily of perfume, Abigail felt faint the moment she stepped into the room. She wanted to stop for a bit, but she could already hear footsteps coming from the stairways, she couldn’t afford to stop any longer, she quickly hid into the room.
Abigail couldn’t get a good night’s sleep last night, she was exhausted and fatigued, her body trembled vigorously from the lack of rest. Even so, she couldn’t rest peacefully due to the smell of the perfume in Annie’s room.
It was only until daybreak, that she started to fall asleep after a whole night of tossing and turning. But she was abruptly awakened by Annie, “Wake up!”
It wasn’t very bright out yet, she couldn’t really read Annie’s expression, she could only see Annie grabbing her arm.
She grimaced, her sleepiness vanished in an instant, she looked blankly at Annie.
“Go back to your room right now, and remember, you are not to tell anyone about tonight!”
Abigail went back to her room obediently, her room reeked of alcohol. She stared at Joshua who was fast asleep and understood where the stench was coming from.
She climbed into the bed quietly and all tiptoed and chose a spot that was furthest away from him. To her surprise, a large hand swooped her over within a second, and she was wrapped tightly by the familiar and solid arms.
“You smell nice now, don’t ever use perfume again,” muttered Joshua unconsciously, he put his nose on her hair satisfyingly, sniffed hard a few times, and fell into a deep slumber.
Abigail was nervous and her body was all stiff, she only relaxed after she was sure that he wasn’t awake anymore.
Annie was in a good mood, she had obvious eye bags under her eyes, but she was smiling blissfully. She put away her hand mirror and ignored the eye bags she had.
Though her face immediately turned frosty the moment she saw Abigail, her smile vanished, “I can’t believe that you get to enjoy that sort of ecstasy every night. Is Joshua blind? Why would he choose you?”
She berated furiously, mocking Abigail.
Abigail swayed her body but wasn’t planning to answer. Annie said it was paradise, but to her, it was only torturous hell. If she could, she wished that she never needed to go through that ever again.
Annie’s purposely lowered her voice as she went on the phone, she was giggling happily.
“Hello, dad? Are you still sleeping? Such a lazy bum.”
