“That’s nothing special for me, Daddy buys me new jewellery every year, for hundreds of thousands, without limits to the top, this one seems to be pretty cheap though.” Annie talked about her father, a well known man in the business which Harry probably will never be able to keep up with.
Harry’s face froze, but she quickly found her smile again, “Even if it’s a million worth, it’s from your dad. I think it’s more important to have a lover, that keeps us young.”
She moved her face closer to Annie, the patted on her perfect skin, showing Annie her natural beauty.
“You…” Annie’s face that had a ton of make up on it, was showing dark facets, even the make up could barely cover that she was turning colors in anger.
“Alright, I won’t keep you any longer.” Harry let her go, and gestured to her, “Let’s quickly talk about something more important.”
She pressed her lips together, and her face turned darker. “Abigail has been punished pretty badly, and I heard she was even locked in a cage, without food and water for almost a whole day, then Joshua even took her chanced to take care of Granny, instead, she has to sweep the backyard now.”
“I already know about that.” Annie’s face was taking a unnatural expression, she understood what Harry is trying to say, but she won’t give up easily.
“You know she took the blame for someone else right?” Harry pursed her red lips, and asked even though she already knew the answer, which put Annie in a difficult place.
“What do you want?” Annie jumped on Harry’s question.
“Actually, we both have the same goal, don’t we?” Harry blinked her eyes, and hugged her arms, then she smiled towards where Abigail was sitting, “I didn’t expose you today because I wanna give you another chance. I don’t see why we should hurt each other if we both want the same.”
Harry put on a fake smile, tell kept on talking about her thought, “You and I are going to be on the same boat, and I think we should team up against the others, only then we will be able to keep Joshua with us. I believe with our both intellect and beauty, it’s not a challenge for us, but…” She dragged out the rest of her sentence intentionally, till Annie pushed her angrily, “But what, just say it!”
“I don’t mind us sharing one husband, especially someone like Joshua, he has the foundation for it. What I wanna say is that in his heart, I am way pass you, so in the future, if we succeed, I am going to be his main wife, and you will be second.”
“That’s ridiculous.” Annie didn’t even consider what Harry said, and immediately denied her offer. Ever since her childhood, she never shared anything that she wanted to have, and only after she was sick and tired of it, someone else was allowed to touch it. Sharing her man with another woman? This was impossible.
Harry was prepared for her reaction, so she was not surprised at all, she was standing facing towards Abigail, and even if she was hidden well, she couldn’t be hidden from Harry’s sharp eye sight.
She turned her hips, and stood up straight, her eyes were filled with anger, that she laid on Annie, then she said in a louder volume, “Then I won’t have any other choice, you know I don’t mind working with someone else, like Abigail. To me, it’s just a cooperation, we are all friends, so it doesn’t matter to me if it’s you or Abigail, I can work with both of you. So if you have decided, then let’s just drop it.”
She moved her body, and turned elegantly, to leave for her own room.
Annie, who was really angry, humphed a few times, before she turned to kick in her own room door, and when she threw the door back into the lock, it made such a loud sound, that Abigail’s ears were hurting.
Abigail walked towards her own room, and stopped in front of Harry’s door. From her reaction before, she knew that Harry saw her. But why would she keep talking, why did she mention that Abigail was wronged?
The last few words were also directed to Abigail, she didn’t look at Annie, she looked towards the back, where Abigail was hidden, and that was clear.
Was it an invitation for her? Was she inviting her to a partnership? To win over Joshua?
Thinking about Joshua made her really uncomfortable those days, especially after thinking about what she has been through all of that day, her heart was broken. He was way beyond the line to force her to take the blame for something she didn’t do.
Her body was trembling, and Abigail had to hold on to the wall so she didn’t fall. She tried to walk towards her own room, then she buried herself in her blanket, and her tears were running down the cheeks, wetting her pillow and blanket sheets.
“Abigail, I am back!”
Who was that? It was a very familiar voice, and when Abigail raised her head, she saw a face that looked just like hers.
“Breslin, is that you?”
Abigail got excited, and she ran towards her sister to give her a hug.
“Breslin, I missed you so much, are you okay?” She ran and asked her. But, her sister was still so far away from her, and while she was running towards her, Breslin was getting further away from her, it didn’t matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t get closer to her.
“Breslin…” Abigail had to catch her breath, and called out towards her sister in disappointment, “Breslin, I am not doing well here, can you take me with you? I don’t wanna stay here anymore, not even one more minute!”
Breslin didn’t say anything, but she laughed at Abigail.
“Breslin, Breslin…” Her sister’s head was gradually disappearing, and only Abigail was left there crying, “Not even Granny wants to be with me, I feel so lonely.”
“Don’t call her Granny, you don’t have the right!” Joshua’s dark face appeared in front of her, he was heartless, and his eyes filled with hatred. He was holding a girl on his side, she was wearing a princess dress, and Abigail stared at them for a long time, until she recognized the girl. “Michelle? It’s you!”
Michelle’s face was perfectly soft, her curled hair laying on her shoulders, but quickly, her face changed into a grimace.
“It’s you! You are the one who did this to me! You!” She reached out her fingers with long nails, and came closer to Abigail.
“No, it wasn’t me, it wasn’t!” Abigail tried to constantly back away from her.
“Yes it was you!” Joshua grabbed her from behind by her shoulder, and said loud, “Yes it was you! You destroyed my happiness, you destroyed our lives, you destroyed me Michelle, give her back to me, give her back!”
“Give me back my happiness!” Michelle was coming closer to her, her claws that were awfully close to the one of an eagle were wrapped around her neck, “You destroyed my happiness, I am going to hunt ou forever!”
“Michelle!” Abigail was feeling really bitter, she felt something hard hit her.
She opened her eyes wide, her face was pale, there was no sight of Michelle, but in front of her was Joshua.
Abigail looked around herself, and noticed that she fell out of her bed, and onto the floor. That must have been the hit she felt just now.
Joshua’s hand was on her shoulder, showing that he was the reason she fell out of her bed.
Right, it was just a nightmare. Abigail wiped off the sweat on her forehead, and she could feel the tears on her face, she cried in her dream.
Joshua pulled her up from the floor hard, and forced her to look into his eyes. His expression was even more scary than in her dream.
“You don’t have the right to call for Michelle!”
“What?” Abigail just woke up from her dream, she looked at Joshua all confused. She suddenly remembered that when Michelle threw herself onto Abigail in the dream, she called out her name, “I…” She suddenly remembered the situation in her dream, in which Michelle blamed her for destroying their life.
It’s true, if it wasn’t for that accident, they would have been really happy now. Even if Michelle has done things that shouldn’t be talked about, but Joshua surely wouldn’t care about that.
“I’m sorry.” She said to him genuinely.
“What does it help now, don’t you think it’s too late? You pushed Granny pretty hard too!” Joshua misunderstood why she was apologizing, and raised his arms, pulling Abigail off the ground.
“I…” Her collar was a little tight on her neck because of Joshua, and she had trouble breathing, she wanted to say something, but had no chance to do so. Her little face was turning blue because of oxygen lack.
Did he want her to die? Abigail’s lids were getting heavy, she was satisfied with what Joshua was doing to her, if he wanted her to pay what she did, why not take her life for it.
“Stop acting dead!” She thought she could finally die, but she didn’t expect him to let go of her lastly. She couldn’t hold her own body, and fell on the floor, while Joshua kicked her in disgust. She was about to fall into unconsciousness, but his kicks woke her again.
“You…” Abigail couldn’t speak because of her weakness. She tried her best to stand up, but her arms gave up under her weight, and she laid back on the ground.
“Get up now!” He kicked her again.
Fortunately Abigail was laying on her stomach, so the kicks didn’t affect her bump.
She was having cold sweat on her face, and she was so pale, just like a dead person. Her teeth were making sounds, and even though she tried really hard, but she couldn’t get up.
“If you wanna beat me or yell at me or even kill me, just go on.” She gave up, and stayed on the floor.
“Kill you?” Joshua stopped his kicks, and crossed his arms in front of his chest, then he shook his head, “No, I am not going to let you die this easy. We just started out little game, didn’t we?”
Game? Abigail shook her head and didn’t understand, she didn’t want to play his game.
She was sure that the pain he was planning to give her will be much worse than death, and if she had the chance to choose, she would rather die.
“Why won’t you just let me die?” Her pale face showed a bitter smile, her arms supported her enough to raise her upper body, she raised her head, and looked him into his eyes, “If I died, you wouldn’t have to be annoyed looking at me anymore!”
She looked at her hair, her clothes, her accessories, and smiled bitterly, “Joshua, why are you doing this? You aren’t just punishing me, but also yourself.”
She coughed, and when she finished, her face showed another smile.
“Why don’t you just admit that while you are stepping on my pride, you aren’t allowing yourself to feel good wither. Just let me die, then you wouldn’t have to look at me, and I wouldn’t remind you of Michelle anymore.”
Joshua let go of his hands, and his body stiffened. His flashing eyes were looking at her, while he was thinking about what she just said. It took him about one minute, then he clenched his fists, and his sharp gaze was resting on her.
“You want me to kill you? No, no, I am not going to let you go easily. Without my permission, you will not die, otherwise I am going to find your whole family, and kill them one by one.”
Joshua stomped out of the room furious, he had to admit, his anger was coming from her determination to die. He was the the master of this world, without his permission, she had no right to even think about that.
Abigail felt that he was still staring at her, even though he already left her room, and wasn’t looking at her, she still couldn’t wake up fully from her dream.
What was he saying just now? If she died, he will find her family and kill them all? That was really cruel!
She clenched her fists, and tried to get up, then she started screaming towards the closed door, it was her first scream since she entered this house.
And this scream was filled with disappointment, anger, and dissatisfaction.
