Chapter 11 Fate Plays Tricks on People

Book:t9 Published:2024-5-1

Michelle, a girl who looked drop-dead gorgeous, she was smiling at her and asking for advice from her in a few minutes ago, and the next moment, she was losing her life in the car accident.
Is this fate playing a trick on people? The two people she most wanted to be happy had lost their happiness…
Abigail Hanson was gathering her hair that fell by her earlobes, and she shrank tightly as she could to calm down her heart.
An officer pushed through the door, he picked up the file she was holding and looked. The officer sized up her attractive face and finally sat across from her.
“Tell me what happened.” The officer questioned her in gender and soft tone as if he couldn’t bear to be too harsh on her.
“I…”
Abigail found out that she didn’t know much about what happened. She was scratching her scalp painfully with her hand and tried to recall her sister’s intermittent story.
“It was…” she was trying to sort out and process her sister’s words haphazardly.
The officer looked at her and held the pencil in his hand. He was thinking for a while and didn’t write down a single word. “It must be terrifying when things happen.” The officer saw her incoherence as the result of being overly frightened.
“Alvin, can you come in for a while?” The officer shouted at the door and a young police officer walked in. Abigail stared at the two men with confusion.
“You go to the scene of the accident have a check and retrieve the fingerprints from the car.'”
Fingerprints? Abigail’s heartbeat almost stopped, and her mind went blank. If the officer went to retrieve the fingerprints, then the truth would be revealed soon…
“No!” She screamed, startling the two policemen who were talking to each other.
The whole world seemed to be at a standstill, Abigail’s face was pale and her forehead was full of cold sweat, her lips trembled and opened several times, but she couldn’t spit out a single word.
The two policemen stared at her face in bewilderment and wondering why she reacted the way she did.
What should she do?
It was the only thing she thought about.
The awkwardness was resolved when the officer’s cell phone rang abruptly.
“Please come in.” As the officer hung up the phone, the door opened again and a man who wore a black suit with a briefcase walked in.
“Hello, Officer Cliff.” The visitor greeted the officer familiarly. “I’m representing Mr. Caunter; my litigant and the deceased are in a relationship and he wishes to settle this matter privately.”
“I agree!” Abigail didn’t expect such a dramatic turn, she didn’t have much time to think about what kind of character Mr. Caunter was. There may have some changes in her future and she can do anything if her sister was safe!
The officer nodded and smiled. “Since both sides have agreed to have a private settlement, it would be best.” After that, the officer was walking out with his men.
“Hello, Miss Hanson.” The lawyer took a glance at the information left on the officer’s desk. He addressed and introduced himself, “My name is Nathan and I’m representing my litigant to have a negotiation with you.”
Abigail nodded, and she was relieved that her sister was safe.”
“According to the Application of Law of Traffic Accidents, a person who causes the death of one person, he or she is fully responsible for the accident and the person will be sentenced to three years in prison.”
